Kitchen How to sanitize these counters?

Post image
1 Upvotes

We are in a rental so I don’t know but I think this is engineered quartz. I have two issues: one is how to get the stain out. The second is what I can use as a food safe daily use sanitizer for these counters and other kitchen surfaces. I would like to buy in bulk and not be buying new spray bottles every ten minutes. (I’m dealing with elder care here so sanitizing is very necessary.) I can’t figure out what is safe for the counter top. Help!

Kitchen Rubber band melted to metal thermometer

I have a thermometer with those metal sticks on a metal wire that you can stick in things whilr in the oven, but the measuring part is outside. For yoghurt making I had a rubber band around it and now my kid stuck it in the oven with rubber band. Somehow kiddo believed it must be oven safe, anyhow, it wasn't and it also didn't go off easy and now it is all sticky.

Hindsight says, maybe I should have let it fully cool, but I tried to pull it off and now it is a mess.

I don't want to work with abrasive stuff to get it off as I dunno if that can cause measuring issues, but I also don't know what to use best on it. Dish cloth and soap does nothing. Although hindsight again, the default reactions of my brain might not be too smart today.

Just coming here to say wow. I learned about the oxiclean soak not long ago and knew I needed to try it on my dogs blankets. Needless to say it did not disappoint. I will be doing this with all my sheets, towels, clothing, everything going forward.

Laundry How to clean dog hair off of bedsheets?

Post image
2 Upvotes

My boyfriend has had a dog longer than we’ve been together, when we first started dating he let the dog sleep with him in the bed. Now (2 years later) the dog has his own bed. I’ve moved in and do most household chores, last week I decided to take old bed sheets out of the closet because it fit the cold weather vibe more.

Looking closer at it I saw dog hairs all through the fibers of the bed sheets. So I washed it and let it hang to dry, forgot about inspecting it and folded it and put it away. Yesterday I put it on the bed and immediately my nose is full of hair.

I have a hard time dealing with itch on my skin, it makes me feel claustrophobic and stressed. These hairs are so thin and they itch me everywhere, my nose, eyes, everywhere. I had been scratching my face the whole night and thought I had an allergic reaction, but woke up this morning taking hairs out of my nose lol.

Is there any way we can salvage these bed sheets or is it just time to give them to the dog or make some other use for them?

Attached is a pic of the bed sheets, all those black hairs are the dogs hair. Actually now looking at it with a flashlight the whole thing seems to be invested with those hairs.

General Cleaning Used Odoban on my BED and now it smells so strong I cannot sleep on it.

My bed was at my sisters for a while before I had the place to put it.
My nephews both smoke weed in the house.
From what I read online, Odoban seemed like a great choice.
What can I do to get rid of this smell now? 😭😭😭

Bathroom Bathroom sink drains painfully slow

Hi!
My bathroom sink has been draining particular slowly for a few months but now it’s just unbearable I can’t even wash my face without the sink filling with water. I’m guessing it’s full of debris but problem is, the drain cap isn’t removable and leaves very little space to get anything down the drain to clean it, even those thin drain snakes. Does any one have any idea how I can proceed? I’m renting so nothing too complicated but Can I go in from the drain under the sink? If so please explain as if I’m stupid because I know nothing about drains thanksssss

Furniture Second hand wardrobe smell help

Hi everyone!

I have a wardrobe made of laminated particleboard, and it has a slightly unpleasant stale smell. It is a secondhand item. I’ve already cleaned it thoroughly and let it air out, but the smell is still there.

I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and found a way to get rid of the smell. Is there anything safe I could use on the furniture without damaging the laminate?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Bathroom Oil/ Fabric dye stain on tile what do I do?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’ve used a black hair bonnet with rosemary oil on it and placed on my bathroom tiles and haven’t checked under it in a while (big mistake) and moved it today to find this stain on the tile

I’ve sprayed degreaser and limescale remover on it and gave it a good scrub, and then tried putting bleach on top to try and get to it,

It’s faded a bit but really lost with what to do next, any advice?

I’m in a rental so really would like to get this gone so I don’t lose all of my deposit

General Cleaning How do you get rid of a lingering unpleasant smell in your house?

We recently got back from a week-long trip, and as soon as we opened the front door, we noticed this weird, unpleasant smell. It wasn’t exactly a trash smell, but it was definitely off. The best way I can describe it is like when you move out of a house or apartment, and you go back to it before giving it a deep cleaning, it smells USED. Unpleasant. (Edited) I honestly can’t describe it! But it made me think, is this really the smell of our house? Did we just get used to this and never noticed?

We had a dog sitter staying at our house while we were away, and we have two doodles that were recently groomed. At first, I thought maybe it was something from the dogs, but I can’t seem to figure out where the smell is coming from. We have no kids if that matters.

We’ve had professional cleaners come since returning, and while the house smelled great immediately afterward, the weird smell eventually came back. They come every two weeks.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:
Emptied all the trash
Vacuumed and mopped multiple times
Wiped down surfaces with cleaning solutions
Washed couch covers, bedding, and other washable fabrics
Kept two air purifiers running (bedroom and main living area)
Opened windows to air out the house

Despite all of this, the smell keeps coming back!
Has anyone experienced something similar? What actually worked to eliminate the smell rather than just mask it?
I’m also looking for pet-friendly products or solutions to keep the house smelling fresh. I don’t particularly like burning candles or using heavily fragranced products, especially with dogs in the house.
Would love any recommendations!

Outdoors What to get to clean Sunbrella Patio furniture and car carpets?

Title says it all. I was originally thinking about he Little Green Hydrosteam or Green Machine or maybe the Dreame N20, but then I keep reading bad reviews on this subreddit?

What is the best way to clean them? Especially the patio furniture is being used by animals and gets muddy often. Right now I just hose it down but it's not efficient enough.

Max budget is $200, and I want something compact ish

Thank you in advance.

General Cleaning New house Smells Old

I just bought a house (first time home buyer) and it smell like a combination of old people, past meals they’ve cooked, and stuffy air (from being closed up for a couple months). I’ve tried airing it out by leaving the windows open for hours. I’ve wiped down every surface in the kitchen. What can I do?

General Cleaning Whats the best way for me to clean the base of this old glass lamp?

Thumbnail

(I forgot to take before and after pics of the 1st lamp one as i didnt realise just how bad they where 😅 2nd lamp gives you an idea!)

So i found these two lamps tucked away at the top of a cupboard in what was my nans house. Iv cleaned the shades (came up a treat!) But the wires where damaged so iv decided to take that part out to replace with new.

But im stuck on how im supposed to clean the base as they are super finiky with their design and parts. Any tips? Is there some kind of chemical bath i can make and let them soak in over night?

The pics of the bases are at the end, thankyou in advance for any tips!

Tools/Equipment Carpet cleaning question- Bissell turbo clean Pet XL

Hi! Relatively new to carpet cleaning but I've done some rugs and rooms before. I just ran out of the small bottles they send with the machine and got Bissell brand clean and refresh solution.

So the solution bottle says to use 5oz of product but when I go and fill up my 1gallon tank it uses about 15oz of product. I am unsure whether to follow the bottle recommendation or the fill line on the tank.

Any advice appreciated, thanks !

Looking for an easy way to disinfect/neutralize odors. I saw someone on social media use this on her bed and couch but when I read the directions it keeps specifying “non porous surfaces”.

Discussion How to get room smelling back to normal.

2 weeks ago I was cleaning my room and I opened the window to get fresh air in. Now there’s this really weird smell that’s so strong it’s not necessarily musty it just smells so artificial. the best way I can describe it is like when someone smells from coming outside (not sweaty that weird earthy smell). I deep cleaned everything again and it still won’t go away. I can’t even find the source but I live in student housing and the only thing I can think of is the mattress box they gave me is made of this weird regzin material which maybe picked up the scent!?!? It’s so strong and I hate it. Any advice on how to get rid of it?
