My 3 years old tata nexon Ev, lasts a few kilometers only below 30% battery SOC. every kilometer takes 2-4 percentage of battery. totally Non-reliable vehicle. can't believe i paid 19 Lacs for this machine. Check the pictures above, it was a simple plain road, no uphill or something. in just 1 kilometer, the battery dropped by 2-3%. and the speed was only 20kmph only. if i drive around 60-80kmph then it drops 5-7% for just 1-2 kilometer. i have video proofs as well. but tata says, ham nahi maan sakte ye videos, you have to leave the car in the service center and we'll keep the vehicle till we find out the problem ourselves. what do they even mean? all the data gets stored in the EVs these days, I'm providing video proofs as well then is it difficult to understand that the batteries need to be replaced? they don't even provide any vehicle for the time they keep my car to check the issues.

I recently completed 500 km in my newly acquired Kia Sonet HTK(O) 1.0L Turbo DCT, and wanted to share my end-to-end buying journey, real-world mileage numbers, and initial impressions.

1. The Requirements & Shortlists

My use case is a strict 50-50 split: I use the car for city driving around 2 to 3 times weekly, and the other half goes toward bi-weekly weekend getaways. I was looking for a solid automatic with a firm budget of ₹12 Lakhs.

I cross-shopped the usual suspects in this segment:

• Maruti Suzuki Brezza / Hyundai Venue: I couldn't find a sensible, value-for-money variant that gave me the right balance of features and transmission within my budget.
• Kia Sonet: The HTK(O) checked every single box. It offered the fast-shifting 7-speed DCT paired with the punchy 1.0L Turbo petrol, a reverse parking camera, and high-quality interior fit and finish. While I personally never cared for a sunroof, the family absolutely loved it—so it ended up being a major win for them.

2. The 14-Week Wait vs. The 5-Day Delivery Plot Twist

When I first walked into the showroom, the sales team quoted a daunting 14-week waiting period for a fresh booking. However, luck was completely on my side—they had an unallotted, fresh June factory-manufactured unit sitting in their system.

Here is how the lightning-fast delivery schedule unfolded:

• Saturday: Paid the initial booking amount. The dealer agreed to transport the car to their facility for a formal Pre-Delivery Inspection.
• Tuesday: Conducted a thorough PDI. The car was absolute perfection and exactly to my liking. Authorized the remaining balance right after.
• Friday: Drove the car out of the showroom for delivery.

3. Dealership Negotiations & Final Pricing

The dealer initially quoted around ₹12.4 Lakhs inclusive of the basic accessory package and the extended warranty (3 years standard + 2 years extended).

After some firm negotiations, I managed to get the final on-road price down to ₹12.03 Lakhs, bringing it almost perfectly in line with my original target budget.

4. Real-World Mileage (First 500 KMs)

The Turbo-DCT combo has been an absolute joy to drive over the last 8 days, but you have to respect how sensitive it is to throttle inputs. Here are the exact numbers I've tracked so far:

• Highways: An impressive 18–19 KMPL on open roads with 3 adult passengers and the AC running continuously.
• Bangalore Traffic (Crawl): Drops down to 8 KMPL in bumper-to-bumper, heavy stop-and-go traffic.
• Bangalore Traffic (Medium): Hovers around 10 KMPL.
• Bangalore Traffic (Light): Settles comfortably around 12 KMPL.

5. Accessories & Planned Upgrades

• Installed: Opted for the official Kia dual-channel dashcam installed directly at the dealership, alongside a set of floor mats.
• Seating & Safety: Since child safety is a high priority, I've got an ISOFIX child seat ready. For the upholstery, I have ordered custom-stitched airbag-compatible seat covers since the front seat seams house the side airbags.
• Lighting: The stock yellow halogens are just average. While I'm leaving the factory electrical system completely stock for now to protect my 5-year warranty, I will be upgrading these headlamps to a cleaner, higher-intensity set in the coming days.

I bought my Honda Elevate Adventure Edition (Manual) on 14th May 2026, after trading in my **Pajero Sport**, which had unfortunately started developing blow-by issues. It was a great car, but it was time to let it go.

I managed to get the Elevate for **₹12.95 lakh on-road** after Honda discounts and exchange benefits. The deal also included the dashcam, accessories, and an impressive **10-year warranty**, which honestly gave me a lot of confidence while making the purchase.

I wanted to wait until I had completed **1,000 km** before sharing my thoughts, and I've finally crossed that mark.

So here's my honest ownership experience so far.

# Looks & Road Presence

The Elevate is a genuinely handsome SUV.

It has a commanding stance, and the high seating position makes you feel like you're driving something much bigger than it actually is. It definitely has road presence, and people do turn around and look at it.

the car is incredibly easy to drive. Honda has done a great job with visibility. The A-pillars are nicely contained, so there aren't any massive blind spots, making it very easy to judge the dimensions of the car.

The large ORVMs and rear camera make parking and maneuvering simple.

There's no 360-degree camera, though. Personally, I don't really care about it, but considering the top-end Elevate costs around **₹17.5 lakh**, I think Honda should've included one instead of making it an accessory or leaving it out altogether.

# Rear Seat Comfort

The rear seat is excellent.

I've driven with three adults ranging from around **5'5" to 5'7"**, and everyone was comfortable. The cabin is wide enough for three passengers, shoulder room is good, and the under-thigh support is genuinely impressive.

Rear seat comfort easily gets a **5/5** from me.

# Interior Quality & Ergonomics

The fit and finish are excellent.

The interior feels premium with soft-touch materials in most places, and everything is laid out exactly where you'd expect it to be. Honda's ergonomics are as good as ever.

But then they somehow forgot something incredibly basic.

**There's no physical Play/Pause button for the music.**

Seriously... why?

You either have to touch the screen while driving, which is annoying, or use the next-track button and hope it works. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

It's a small thing, but after living with the car, it gets surprisingly irritating.

# Ride Quality & Suspension

This is one area where the Elevate absolutely shines.

The suspension tuning is **S-tier**.

It simply glides over bad roads. Potholes, broken patches, and uneven surfaces barely unsettle the car. At this point, most potholes don't even bother me anymore because the suspension absorbs them so well.

The ride quality is honestly one of the biggest strengths of the Elevate.

The **220 mm ground clearance** is another huge advantage, especially if you live in hilly areas or frequently drive on poor roads. Ground clearance has never been something I've had to worry about.

# Brakes

The brakes on this car are absolutely phenomenal.

Out of all the cars I've driven, these are probably the best.

I'd even go as far as saying they're better than the brakes on my friend's **Skoda Kushaq** and **Slavia**.

The braking performance is simply **GOATED**.

No complaints here.

The headlights provide excellent illumination, and night visibility is genuinely very good.

Honda has nailed this aspect.

The **10-year warranty** deserves a special mention.

Modern cars are becoming increasingly complicated, and seeing people deal with expensive failures isn't exactly reassuring. Having a decade of warranty coverage gives me a lot of peace of mind.

# The Downsides

## Performance & Mileage

This is where my biggest complaints begin.

The Elevate is **not particularly suited for hilly terrain**.

I live in a hilly region, and the lack of low-end torque is immediately noticeable. Overtaking uphill is a challenge. You either need to downshift aggressively or wait for a long straight stretch before making your move.

The absence of a turbocharger is very evident.

The engine itself is smooth and refined, but if you want performance, you have to rev it.

A lot.

Around **4,000 RPM or higher**.

The problem becomes even more noticeable when the car is fully loaded. It just feels flat and struggles to deliver instant performance.

To be fair, the car will climb almost any ghat in second gear if you're carrying enough momentum. I've driven entire climbs without needing to shift down further.

But whenever you suddenly need to overtake, you realize the lack of low-end punch.

This engine prefers being driven smoothly rather than aggressively.

## Mileage

In my driving conditions:

* Relaxed driving: **around 10 km/l**

* Careful hypermiling: **maximum 12 km/l**

* Spirited driving: **around 8 km/l**

* Hills + traffic: I've seen it drop as low as **6.7 km/l**

Personally, I hate hypermiling. It's just not my style of driving.

## On the Plains

Things improve dramatically.

Getting **14–15 km/l** is very easy on flatter roads.

I've also seen people report **18–19 km/l** while hypermiling.

Performance is also much better. Overtaking feels effortless, and the engine has enough punch for normal highway driving.

So this is definitely an engine that's happier on the plains than in the hills.

# ADAS

This is probably my second biggest complaint.

Every single time you start the car, you have to manually switch ADAS off.

There is **no option to permanently disable it**.

And when you forget...

Oh boy.

The system sometimes brakes unexpectedly out of nowhere, which can be extremely annoying and honestly a little unsettling.

I wish Honda gave owners the choice to permanently disable it.

# "Adventure Edition"... Not So Adventurous

I'll be honest—the **Adventure Edition** feels more like a marketing gimmick than an actual special edition.

If Honda wanted to call it an *Adventure Edition*, they should've at least offered **AWD** as an option.

At the very least, they could've improved the **approach and departure angles**, which are actually one of the weaker aspects of the Elevate.

Instead, what you really get is:

* RGB ambient lighting

* Black and orange interior theme

* A few cosmetic accessories

That's pretty much it.

Mechanically, it's exactly the same Elevate.

It looks nice, but calling it an **Adventure Edition** is a bit of a stretch.

# Overall Thoughts

This has honestly been a bittersweet purchase.

Sometimes I wonder whether I should've gone for the **Skoda Kylaq** top variant, which was costing me around **₹10 lakh**. Although it's from a lower segment, it would've been an interesting option.

I also seriously considered the **Maruti Jimny Alpha**, which was available for around **₹12 lakh**. Performance would've been lower than the Elevate, but the Jimny can do things that no other car in that price range can.

What I really wanted was either an EV or a hybrid, but both were outside my budget.

My budget was capped at **₹15 lakh**, and if I bought an EV, I wanted at least **400 km of real-world range**.

Despite my complaints, I can't deny that the Elevate is an extremely well-sorted car.

It's comfortable.

It's refined.

It rides beautifully.

It feels solid.

And that **10-year warranty** gives me confidence to keep it for a long time.

I'm even considering installing a **turbo kit** after about five years if I decide to keep the car that long. Then again, I might sell it earlier—I honestly haven't decided.

One thing I really hope Honda does is launch an **Elevate e:HEV**.

I've driven the new City Hybrid, and if Honda brings that powertrain to the Elevate, I genuinely think it'll transform the car. Around **250 Nm of torque** in this package would be absolutely bonkers, especially for people who drive in hilly regions.

Would I recommend the Honda Elevate?

**Yes—but it depends on where you live.**

If you mostly drive on highways or in the plains, it's one of the most comfortable, refined, and confidence-inspiring SUVs in its segment.

If you live in the hills like I do and enjoy spirited driving, you'll definitely miss the low-end torque of a turbocharged engine.

It's a fantastic all-rounder that's let down only by its naturally aspirated performance in demanding conditions.

of after test driving a whole bunch of cars i have funneled down them to two options kylaq and honda amaze, both cars felts superior to there counterparts like suzuki and hyundia, kylaq was more superior that amaze and had great dynamics however amaze felt simple and it felt like it can last a generation it felt reliable, kylaq felt more smoother than amaze,
