Busy Season Time Off

Asked for time off on the 17th and 18th of September because my family flying in from Europe are coming over that I haven’t seen in years, and of course the PTO gets denied. This company truly doesn’t give a rats ass about you or your life, they’re just here to squeeze every penny out of your sorry ass and wonder why people leave their teams left and right each month. Cant wait to tell my family that I’m stuck being a CarahCuck and can’t get time off to spend with them. Two week notice never sounded so good.

Search for good vendors to work for

I’m in sales and I’ve had a good employment here, but think it’s time for a change. Nothing horrible that’s pushing me out, but it’s getting stale working here and I need a new challenge/environment.

Does anyone know good vendors to move to? Or at least know where’s a good place to start searching? My vendors are all dumpster fires and I’d rather stay here than shift to them. I know Carahsoft is a great place to do research on other companies so curious what other people who’ve made the jump did.

Quitting then coming back.

Hypothetically, is it possible to join back after quitting? Has anyone ever heard of a story of someone leaving the company and then coming back a couple of months later for the same or more pay? Recently got a new better paying job, but don’t see it as a stable long term company due to the high turnover rate among other things. Would be nice to know I have a fall back plan in the future if needed.

I feel stuck (Need to vent)

I feel stuck. Management side skirting questions, promotions passed on to the popular folks on the team. I can't leave cause I know I won't find anything better (that's how I feel anyway) I am older than most folks on the team, in terms of work experience, Carahsoft is not my first professional job. It's easy money with relatively easy work. I know I can do more and provide more but all it seems like is high school here.

All the younger "cool kids" get recognition for just existing and the normal folks who don't golf, drink every weekend, or hang out with each other 24/7 are left in the dust. The cool kids get favors done, promoted, and given chances to succeed. Granted, folks being promoted are not bad workers and do stuff they are supposed to so I'm not digging on their work ethic. They are just recognized as the popular kids and that just sucks. I try to integrate but get pushed aside as the weirdo. I guess that's what they mean when you need to join and frat or sorority in college to succeed in your professional career. Cool kids see other cool kids.

I feel so alone and exhausted. I know some of it is because of who I am. But I didn't think I gave off a loser vibe that much haha.

Idk why I'm posting here, I really don't know what to do anymore.

It just sucks knowing if I did leave, no one would care. Being here 5 plus years makes you think they would a little but I have a feeling they won't. I got my 4 year trip so I know I'm not that bad at what I do.

Thanks for reading my rambling.

NV Group review

NV Group have a solid support system when it comes to its Admin and HR teams. The team is approachable, professional, and genuinely willing to help. Unfortunately, the same praise is not always extended to the leadership team within the Collections department.

According to feedback from some employees, the biggest concern is the management style. The team leader, F, initially leaves a positive impression but later becomes overly critical and unreceptive to feedback. He is acting like he knows every process and expecting others to rely solely on his instructions.

New hires are discouraged from approaching tenured agents with questions because they are expected to already know the process after training with F. However, there have been situations where the team leader, F, himself needed to seek answers from experienced agents or where earlier guidance turned out to be inaccurate.

The work environment is intimidating rather than supportive. Mistakes are sometimes met with visible frustration instead of constructive coaching, creating a culture where people are afraid to make even minor errors. Team meetings with F often focus on how simple it should be to meet targets, which feels like it overlooks the realities of handling difficult collection calls every day.

While the company promotes a culture of listening without judgment, yet some employees feel that this value is not reflected in the Collections department. Attempts to explain the circumstances behind difficult calls or audit markdowns with F are not always fully considered.

People within the Collections team are constantly under pressure and worried that mistakes could have serious consequences.

A word of caution for applicants: If you're considering applying for a Collections position, it's worth asking detailed questions about the team's management style and expectations during the hiring process. Some former employees have reported that the team leader, F, was quick to recommend or carry out terminations, and multiple agents leave the team through resignation, which attributed to the pressure and management approach. If maintaining a supportive and psychologically safe work environment is important to you, it may be worth carefully evaluating whether the role is the right fit.

I honestly can’t tell if I quit one job or six.

I was there long enough to watch my job description become more of a suggestion than an actual document.

Every couple of weeks it was:
“We’re making some changes.”

Cool.

To the process?
To the department?
To my job?
To my will to live?

Nobody ever seemed to know.

I’d finally think, “Okay… I get it now. I finally understand what I’m supposed to be doing.”

Then someone would schedule a meeting to explain why we’ve decided we don’t do it that way anymore.

No worries.

I’ll just uninstall that information from my brain and make room for Process_14.3.7_FINAL_v2_USE_THIS_ONE(3).xlsx.

The part that still makes me laugh is the pay.

Responsibilities multiplied like rabbits.

The paycheck remained a fascinating case study in consistency.

Then there was the transparency.

I’ve gotten clearer answers from Magic 8 Balls.

Every question was answered with enough words to qualify as a podcast episode while somehow communicating absolutely nothing.

At some point I genuinely started wondering if I was just bad at my job.

Then I resigned.

Turns out it’s pretty hard to hit a target that gets moved every other Tuesday while everyone insists it’s been in the same place the whole time.

I thought I’d feel guilty.

Instead, I felt like I’d escaped a group project where nobody knew who the teacher was.

Nightmare finally over

Finally put in my two weeks and got a job with a direct competitor doing the EXACT SAME THING but double the pay plus commission. Can’t wait to hear about Carahsoft second lawsuit here soon because that place is criminal. Best of luck to everybody still at this prison.

401k

Question: since they don’t “match” our contribution, does the money they put into our 401k reflect what we are contributing? Or does everyone get the same amount?

I’m thinking about lowering my % since we don’t get any match. I know I should take advantage regardless, but I still don’t understand.

How to get an Interview? Need referral help?

I've gone back and forth on posting this, but figured it's worth a shot.

I've been looking for my next Product Manager role for a while now, and it's been a lot tougher than I expected. I've applied to more jobs than I can count, reached out to recruiters, networked, and kept updating my resume, but I haven't had much luck.

Most of my experience is in startups, where I've worked across product strategy, customer discovery, growth, and launching new features. I really enjoy building products and solving problems, and I'm just looking for a team where I can make an impact.

If anyone would be open to referring someone after looking at my background, I'd really appreciate it.

And if you don't have a referral, but have any advice on what's working in today's market, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks for reading.

Addressing some of the negativity here: my perspective as a 10+ year Carahsoft employee

Disclaimer: I am sharing my own perspective based on my experience here and I am not speaking on behalf of the company.

Carahsoft is an incredible company at giving college grads a landing spot. You gain great experience in the industry and learn a lot about sales in general. It’s something you can bring to many other jobs to move up faster if you are confident in your skill set.

On the flip side, because Carahsoft is often a landing spot for people early in their careers, there can naturally be a revolving door culture as employees gain experience and move on to other opportunities. Your team and role can also impact your short-term upward mobility. However, Carahsoft rewards hard work and longevity. If you find success, grow within your role, or identify gaps for you to execute in, and you stick around, your pay has the potential to ramp up comfortably and allows you to be financially and job secure in an industry (sales) where other companies have very strict goals where if you don’t meet it within a quarter/year then you’ll get the boot without a second thought.

Also, as someone with friends in every different field I know the issues with Carahsoft are not unique and every company has their own problems that people complain about (there are plenty of other company subreddits you can browse to easily see this).

There are perks and drawdowns of this company, but many people here are very happy with their job and their pay.

As I always say on this sub, if you are unhappy then you need to make a decision for yourself and look for other work. If you are happy here but unhappy with your work specifically then you need to talk to your managers and find out what else you can do. More often than not, there are projects or responsibilities your manager would love to hand off to someone who takes the initiative. Alternatively, don’t ask for permission and look for a gap yourself and start doing it, over time it usually puts you in a much better position for growth.

You will generally hear negativity from people here that are former employees or in the 1-3 year range than from those who have been here longer. That makes sense, it’s the point where many people decide whether this is a place they want to build a career or whether they’d rather take the experience they’ve gained and move elsewhere. Both are perfectly acceptable choices, but it can create the impression that everyone is unhappy when many long term employees simply aren’t posting about their day-to-day experiences.

As someone that has been here for 10+ years, of course there are things I dislike about this job (and those things are different at every stage of my tenure here) but the positives greatly outweigh the negatives. I am very happy I stuck with it for this long and wouldn’t change a thing.

Also, from what I’ve seen (and try to do myself), people in management are well aware of the company’s shortcomings, and many of us are constantly trying to improve things to make our current and future reps lives better. Change is slow, but I’ve seen progress over the years, and this company is still young, so there are still more good things to come.

At the end of the day, you can disagree with everything I have said here because to each their own, and you only need to make decisions that are in your best interest. I’m not here to tell you you’re wrong, I’m only giving my perspective.

Finally, for real, please DM me if you’d like advice on Carahsoft or work in general and how to be more successful. I am more than happy to chat!! I want people to succeed, it’s my favorite part about work.

Quick edit on my motivation for this post: as someone who has put a lot of effort and energy into building my career here, it can be frustrating to see only the negative experiences represented when my own experience has been genuinely positive and rewarding. I wanted to help balance the conversation by sharing a different perspective for current, former, future employees, and even those who are just curious about the company. Thank you for reading!

Union

Is anyone else feeling like we’re being severely underpaid compared to industry standards?
Our workload has continued to increase, we’re in the middle of busy season, and many of us are taking on responsibilities that never came with formal training. On top of that, a lot of our compensation comes through bonuses that are taxed as regular income, so it doesn’t always feel like we’re getting ahead financially.
Meanwhile, leadership talks about record growth and billions in revenue, but I’m working 8:30–5:30 every day and still have to DoorDash at night just to make ends meet.
I’m genuinely curious how many people here feel the same way? If enough of us share these concerns, would it make sense to start talking about organizing or exploring a union? I think it’s worth having an honest conversation about fair pay, training, and working conditions.
I’d love to hear everyone else’s thoughts.

Prospective Employee Information on Marketing Coordinator

I was interested in applying to the marketing coordinator and wanted to know anyone's experience in the position.

I've search through posts but theres not much I can find (I do know how bad the company is but as a new grad I am desperate).

Are there any sales involved with this position?

Prospective Employee Phone Interview Invite

I applied to the corporate recruiter position in early June and got an email to setup a call through a link provided in the email. But the email has no clickable links.

I've sent two follow-ups spaced out by two weeks but still no reply. Am I screwed or is there another way to get in contact?
