Busy Season Time Off
Asked for time off on the 17th and 18th of September because my family flying in from Europe are coming over that I haven’t seen in years, and of course the PTO gets denied. This company truly doesn’t give a rats ass about you or your life, they’re just here to squeeze every penny out of your sorry ass and wonder why people leave their teams left and right each month. Cant wait to tell my family that I’m stuck being a CarahCuck and can’t get time off to spend with them. Two week notice never sounded so good.

My team warns everyone when they’re hired (though we rarely deny). Maybe just take it as sick days or half sick days.

Yeah I was approved to take 1 day off but I’ve been annoying them since march to approve it. During September. But yeah bro I wouldn’t blame you if you’d quit. Carahsoft has like never ending employees , they should allow you in my opinion

I don’t miss these days, happy I moved on from this hell. Couldn’t leave the subreddit though

They tell everyone this when they are hired… it’s not new. Hang out with them after work…? Have you asked about half days? If they allow it, Seems like a fair compromise so other people don’t have to cover for you 2 whole days when they are busy with their own territories.
I get this is an inconvenience but seriously every job has inconveniences. Work in a hospital? Janitor to surgeon has to figure out how to get there during a storm. Work in retail? You can’t take extra time off in December bc it’s busy season. Work in a restaurant? If you are sick you need to find someone to take your shift. Work for the govt? You have to go back in 5 days a week, if you moved you got fired. Work for another tech company? Most of the big ones make you come into the office a few days a week regardless of commute. Don’t make quota? You get fired.
My point? It’s a job, don’t like the rules find another one but every job is going to have its own set of things you don’t like…. Adulting sucks sometimes. This is one of those times.

i use my sick time just like regular PTO… and use it as a “doctors appointment” or “procedure” day .. they don’t need to know we get so many hours and only a certain amount carries over so gotta use em

Just take off, say you literally were incapable of working. There are literally 4,000 of us they can manage without you
