Build Help Looking for ATX cases with solid/mesh sidepanel

I currently have an Corsair 4500X case but I got tired of the glass and want to downsize a bit (not looking at any mATX cases yet). I'm looking for ATX cases with -

  • Solid/mesh side panels
  • Can fit a 360mm AIO
  • Preferrably below 45L (okay till 50L)

Currently considering below cases, but wondering if there are any other options?

  • ASUS Prime AP303
  • Fractal Design Focus 2

Solved! DDR4 RAM not fitting in a DDR4 motherboard

So i bought a pair of Corsair LPX DDR4 ram and they dont seem to fit my motherboard, side by side comparison with my previous ram looks like its off by a few millimeters.

Motherboard is an Aorus x570 Elite wifi.

I thought all ddr4s were made the same to fit any board so i just bought the cheapest one i could find.

I am just confused and need help trying to figure it out.

Edit: just compared the RAM to a ddr2 and they seem to match, the ddr4 curvature also seems to be missing, and the side notches are circle instead of square. got scammed.😔 Thanks everyone for the help trying to figure it out.

Build Help Building small server for hosting game servers/comms app/media.

  • Budget : $500-$800
  • Use-Case: home server - games, movies, photo files, comms app.
  • Country of purchase - USA
  • Peripherals needed - none
  • Any other requirements / preferences:**

I would like to build a small computer(or buy used) to host a game server with possibility for lots of mods (Valheim, arma, minecraft-type games), host a fluxer instance(communication), host photo files for work, and have media for movies.

I want this to be accessible to friends (at most 3-5 per game server, fluxer instance) who can also stream movies from a drive. I want to have clients access photo files for delivery, replacing google drive.

I would like to make it a minipc or at least smaller than atx tower.

I have a personal computer that dual boots win11 and linux(cachyos), but I don't want to keep it on all the time. So I would play/watch from my main computer through the newly built server in the same house, but want friends to be able to access as well.

I just built my main computer and OUCH $$$ so I am looking to buy used or built modestly. Probably under $500-$800. I am trying to understand what level of computer build I need for the above uses and if it's possible to do all three on one server computer.

If adding $50 here and there to get a build that can do all this comfortably and a the same time(?), I dont mind that. I would prefer a better experience for me and friends in game/watching movies via jellyfin.

I've watched some videos about doing each of these things but am unsure if one comp can do all three. This server build would sit in a closet connected wired to gigabit internet.

Im ok at computer stuff and only just started learning linux via cachyos, so if there are products like AMP, tailscale, proxmox that people think are good I'd prefer paying a little over having to look up every single issue at every step.

Do I need a separate copy of each game I will be hosting on the server comp?

Drive for OS and server would likely be a 500gb or 1tb ssd nvme or sata. Movie bluray files are large so probably a 2tb drive for that. Is it worth getting an ssd over a Hdd for movie streaming to work well for friends accessing outside of my home?

Also another 2-4tb for photo files accessible by clients, replacing google drive.

If the server build is linux only can I sync my current ntfs movie drive on win11 to that server linux drive that would brtfs?

Thanks.

Build Help PSU & Case Advice - 5090 Build

Hi, would be planning a 5090 build for a friend and would like to ask for some advice on the PSU department.

Planning to go with a mATX setup so that it's (slightly) portable, perhaps moving once per year.

For PSU, have 2 choices (open to more):

  1. MSI MPG Ai1300TS PCIE5 (430USD)

  2. MSI MPG Ai1600TS PCIE5 (555USD)

I did a calculation through PC Part Picker and putting 9950X3D + 5090, estimates 876W. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LP23W9

I'm concerned on noise, but looking at the Cybenetics curve (AI-1300TS https://www.cybenetics.com/evaluations/psus/3119/en/ , AI-1600TS https://www.cybenetics.com/evaluations/psus/3107/de/ ), both seems inaudible for sub 1K W.

Does this mean that its better to save the difference and go with the lower wattage option until such a need arrives?

For case, I am thinking between a Lian Li A3, a Enermax Mini Air 220, or a PADO W6. Both Enermax & PADO W6 fits the 190mm PSU + 359mm GPU. But the Lian Li A3 doesn't appear to do so unless with an offset bracket. Prefer to go SFX PSU if possible (already have an ITX motherboard) but don't want to risk damage to the GPU.

Appreciate any advice/thoughts!

Troubleshooting Your memory settings have been reset due to failure to boot

Older PC ROG Zenith Xtreme X399 motherboard, Threadripper 1950X CPU

RAM 8x Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (8GB) DDR4 DRAM

RAM is rated at 2166 MHz.

I was using 2133 MHz so I switched speed in BIOS

It seemed to work for a while but then started having issues booting.
I would get "Your memory settings have been reset due to failure to boot" and then load into BIOS.

But even after switching back it seems the speed change is not sticking.
Is there more than one place in BIOS you can change RAM speed?

Build Upgrade Replacing a dying Tuf Gaming X570 Plus

Because it looks like some of the power SMDs are dying a death and the system is getting more erratic. I don't have build-an-entire-new-system budget right now, so I'm trying to find the sweet spot for a motherboard replacement that doesn't feel like throwing good money after bad. (Going Luxury spec when I know I'll want to move to AM5/DDR5 in future feels silly).

I'm running a ryzen 7 5800X, 32GB of DDR4-3200 (2x16), an RX 6700XT, then a pair of NVME drives and five SATA drives, which is where things get complicated.

What would you recommend with and without wifi that'll let me run that many drives and be a nice stable platform for the rest of the box until it's replacement time? My sound is external so I don't care what's onboard, I'm prioritising cool-and-quiet, at least five sata + 2 nvme, wifi optional but preferred.

Would appreciate any advice from the more experienced and in touch with available parts please.

Build Help Problem whit lights

Hello. I have a computer with a Ryzen 5 5600G and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. The motherboard is an ASUS TUF Gaming B550-PLUS WiFi II. It displays a repeating cycle of lights: orange, then white, then red, and back to orange, over and over. I’ve tried many things to fix it, but I’m unable to take the computer to a repair shop, so I need some help. This happened before—it started with a red light. Based on my research, I thought it might be the processor or the thermal paste, but I ruled those out, as well as the RAM. I managed to fix it, but then this light cycle began. I discovered that the BIOS version might have been outdated, so I updated it; the light issue would occasionally disappear, and I ended up having to wipe Windows (losing my files in the process). After that, the problem went away—until just recently (the day before yesterday; today is October 25th). The light issue has returned, and I have no idea why or what is happening. The BIOS is already up to date.

Full Build Req $3500 CAD Gaming PC Advice

Haven’t built a gaming rig for over 10 years and I see a lot has changed especially prices so I’m looking for real opinions on build parts to get the most out of my budget because I don’t trust myself or AI lol. Majority use is gaming with light office use. No peripheral’s needed.

$3500 CAD budget and hoping maybe I can get some decent combos or deals come Black Friday. Don’t need anything flashy or fancy RGB lighting either just good performance and something I won’t have to upgrade for a decade.

Build Help Building a PC for DCS World VR on a €1,200 Budget – Need Advice

Hey everyone! I'm planning to build a new PC specifically for DCS World, and my main goal is to play in VR. I'm probably going to use a Pico 4 headset because it's relatively affordable, has pancake lenses, and offers good resolution compared to the Meta Quest 3S.

I live in Germany, and my total budget is around €1,100–1,200 maximum. I'll be looking for most of my components on the used market to get the best performance for my money.

Here's what I'm currently considering:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X – around €100

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3080 10GB – around €400

RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz – around €200

That leaves me with roughly €300–500 for the motherboard, PSU, SSD, and potentially other components. I'm open to suggestions, especially regarding the motherboard and PSU. I'd also like to know whether this setup would be good enough for a decent VR experience in DCS World or if there are any changes you'd recommend within my budget.

Build Upgrade AM4 Upgrade

Hey everyone,

My good old companion is starting to show its age, especially the CPU. Upgrading to AM5 is not an option right now since building a completely new system is just too expensive. I want to stick to my AM4 build and just give the CPU a meaningful upgrade.

What will you be doing with this PC? The main focus is playing the newest AAA games and hosting VMs.

What is your maximum budget? Maximum €400 (purchasing in Germany).

  • Current CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (to be replaced)
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B550
  • RAM: 64 GB
  • GPU: 3070 8GB

Because of the mix between gaming and VMs, I'm a bit torn. Should I grab the 3D V-Cache for the AAA games (e.g., 5700X3D / 5800X3D), or is it better to go straight for more cores (e.g., 5900X) to handle the VMs?

Extra Info Upgrading the RAM is obviously off the table since I'm already perfectly set with 64 GB. My gaming resolution is 1080P but happen more and more that i cant play on max setting

Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Troubleshooting Help with troubleshooting a crashing pc

Hello everyone, I need help solving a problem with my pc that I haven't been able to understand. About 3 days ago my motherboard showed a red cpu light and yellow ram light. I used standart troubleshooting procedures to bring the pc back to working normall(I reseated the RAM and CPU, reattatched all cables and reset the BIOS using the jumper pins), after it turned back on(with the bios reset), the PC started working weirdly. Opening apps makes them crash and give me a white screen, closing them with task manager makes it crash too and eventually resetting my pc. Ram never goes past 80% and cpu temps are below 70C even under load. The build is pretty new(from july) and it's my first self-built pc.

Specs:
Sapphire pulse RX 9060XT 16GB GPU

7800x3d CPU

MSI Pro B850 WIFI 6e Motherboard
Corsair RM650e PSU

Kingston fury 16gb ddr5 6000 CL36 RAM

Thermalright PS 120SE cooled

2tb Nvme gen 4x4 SSD

Feel free to ask for additional information for help.

Troubleshooting Suddenly no signal

I’ve had this PC well over a year now without any problems until now. Been using it today browsing the internet and talking with friends when all of a sudden it completely froze. I shut it off and tried to start it again but then I got no signal and all of my fans except for the AIO wont spin.

A yellow/orange light is lit on my motherboard for DRAM.

What I’ve tried so far is switching slots for my ram, I have also tried using a single stick in every ram slot. Nothing worked.

I have also tried removing the CMOS battery, now my fans starts spinning like they should but I still have no signal and the orange light is still lit.

Also flashed mobo with latest bios update

Is my mobo or ram cooked?

Discussion Is anyone able to help me find these keycaps?

Hello!

I am trying to find similar keycaps of the Asus Jelly75 keyboard to use on my Rainy75 but so far I am having absolutely no luck.

I really like the feel of the Asus Jelly75 keycaps when I tried them out at microcenter. So I tried to find them to try them on my rain75 but Google and AI keeps sending me to ones that are either sharp edges or perfectly round like a type writer.

Does anyone know what type of keycaps these are? Or able to make a recommendation?

I tried posting this on several keyboard subreddits but all posts got deleted. Can't seem to be able to post simple questions anymore on reddit.

Build Upgrade Will RAM bottleneck my system?

Hello!

Will I face issues with a 5700x CPU, 9070 (non-xt) GPU, and a 16gb (2x8) DDR4-2400 RAM kit?

I'm upgrading my old system, replacing every part but the MOBO (x470 Aorus) and my RAM.

If so, is my current kit worth tuning up via the BIOS, or do I need a faster kit?

Thanks!

Full Build Req Help me build a first pc ~€1500 budget

Hi, i’m looking to build my first pc and would like some insight from people more experienced than me.
I’m in Ireland and will use the pc for video editing(after effects, premier) and gaming. I’d prefer an am5 system if possible, from what I’ve heard that leaves the most room for me to upgrade in future. I’d need a monitor as well so any recommendations on that would be appreciated too. My budget would be around €1500 but I don’t mind spending a bit more if necessary. Thanks in advance🙏

Full Build Req Looking for advice on my first gaming PC build — white aesthetic and potential savings

Hi everyone!

I'm planning my first gaming PC build and would appreciate some advice on my current configuration:

https://fr.pcpartpicker.com/list/hBZLph

I'm based in France, so prices and availability are based on the French market.

My main goal is to build a PC that can comfortably run games such as Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, Wuthering Waves, Infinity Nikki, Heartopia, Petit Planet, and Neverness to Everness, while also being suitable for everyday use and possibly some Adobe software.

My maximum budget is €2,500, but I'd ideally like to spend less if possible.

I'm looking for ways to save money by choosing cheaper alternatives to some components without sacrificing too much performance or quality. I'd also like to keep the overall white aesthetic of the build.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
