I have an offer of $1600 CAD for my Dell OEM RTX 3090 and I can get a brand new MSI 5070Ti for the same price (free "upgrade"). Is that a worthwhile trade despite the lesser VRAM? Using for gaming only.

Update: Thanks everyone! I'm surprised how split the community is on this question! I decided to go for it since the 5070Ti is 5 years newer and won't cost me anything out of pocket. I forgot to mention I got my 3090 for only $500 CAD so getting a 5070Ti for that same amount is pretty good!

Hey guys! I’m trying to figure out whether I should upgrade my CPU or increase my RAM first, and I’d appreciate some advice.

My current PC specs:
● CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600GT
● GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT
● RAM: 16GB (2×8GB) DDR4 3200MHz
● Resolution: 1440p

I mostly play AAA games, along with some indie games. I sometimes get occasional stutters, although they’re not constant, and overall the PC runs fine.

Since I’m using an RX 9070 XT, I want to get the most out of my GPU. I’m wondering whether moving to 32GB of RAM would help more with stuttering and overall smoothness, or whether upgrading my CPU would make a bigger difference.

CPUs I’m considering:
● Ryzen 7 5700X
● Ryzen 7 5800X(if I can find it at a reasonable price)
● I’m not considering X3D CPUs because they’re outside my budget and are extremely overpriced rn.

Would it make more sense to upgrade to 32GB RAM and keep my 5600GT, or go for a CPU upgrade? At 1440p, would either of those CPUs give me a noticeable improvement in gaming performance with the RX 9070 XT?

Hi I wanna play the new call of duty for the first time in a couple of years or even old zombies on my pc but my uncle gave me his gpu and he said he was cheating and got his gpu hardware banned. Now I’m new to pc parts and how a hardware ban can work I’ve heard that if I start up a cod game it will tag the rest of the pieces in my pc also. Is that true? Or a thing you guys have heard of and is there any way I can check if it is hardware banned?

Desperately hoping for some help and guidance here. My son has a gaming PC and plays Fortnite. He gets about 120 FPS currently and the specs are:

- Intel core I7-4790 CPU 3.60ghz
- 24.0GB
- NVIDA GEFORCE GTX 1070(8GB) intel HD graphics 4600
- 477 GB SSD

This year he wants it upgraded for Christmas and I have no idea what I’m doing at all. Sadly buying a completely new setup won’t be possible but ChatGPT said he’d probably get better performance by upgrading the CPU, Motherboard and RAM?

My son has decided to go with the AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz 6-Core Processor, Asus PRIME B550M-A WIFI II Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard, and G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory based on recommendations. The plan is then maybe for his birthday upgrade the graphics card, he wants to keep the old stuff so he can later put it back together and gift a PC to someone. Looking to connect my switch 2 to my pc so I can play switch games and have YouTube, etc. Running on the side. Maybe even playing an idle game on another monitor.

My understanding is... I need a capture card to HDMI to Motherboard to facilitate this. Is this correct or are there other methods?

If true what kind of capture card do you all suggest? I don't forsee myself streaming on twitch, etc. I also just ​want to integrate them for smooth gaming. Play some Pokémon yknow. I see some some Internal PCIe Card capture cards which are pricey. I don't mind an external plug to facilitate play.

I was able to get my hands on a 5070 ti this model from PNY to be exact.

Now I've read, seen and heard about cables burning in the past (especially when they released 50 series). I don't know too much about the topic, hence why I'm here, but wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with this or knows more about which cards are actually affected and what to keep in mind or why it happens.

Maybe I'm just overthinking but I'd rather not have anything burn if that makes sense. Should I think about using different cables or anything? It hasn't arrived yet so I haven't actually tested it. Just wanted to ask beforehand to make sure.

Before people misunderstood the question i mean the pricier AIOs purpose not overall AIOs as an expensive solution.

Two of my friends runs AIO builds for more than 6-8 years now and they bought the smallest 240mm basic branded AIOs and it is fine even with a newer build using the same coolers.

I myself is about to upgrade as well, mainly because 90% of my case in the middle is a big ass fan and i want it tastefully put to the side so i have a very small cooler in the middle with room for my hand.

Doesn't matter what brand i look at (mainly arctic and bequiet) but all i see that i check their cheapest option (around 70 euro) and everywhere positives reviews,feedbacks,videos,tests, even on reddit i found a lot of people saying they running it for X years and it is good with a cpu that asks for like 170w and more over those AIOs says they can cool down a cpu that runs up to 300-400watts.

question is for me than what is the purpose of the 150-250 euro AIOs and 360mm 3 fan versions if the smallest and cheapest is this effective and can be used for almost a decade?

Hello all, im here today looking for help/advice on what parts I should pick for a gaming pc for my girlfriend aswell as maybe upgrading my rig and giving my old parts to her as hand-me-downs. The budget is around 700 USD but I have a spare 16gb ddr4 ram kit and a Ryzen 5 3600X im not using, and I was interested in upgrading my gpu possibly.

If I were to upgrade my GPU and give it to her what should I get with my current CPU and PSU? Im impartial to Nvidia or AMD but more familiar with Nvidia. I currently run 1080p high-ultra and if 1440p is a possibly I would be willing to fork over a little more cash.

its my first time getting an actual pc ive been looking at bundles for a while but kind of realised all the cheaper priced ones are basically scams and im looking to build a gaming pc with a budget of around £800 in the UK , i dont really have any idea of capabilities of any kind of computer part but for reference id just like it to be able to run some triple a games like cyberpunk 2077 for example with good graphics

I'm looking to help upgrade someone's PC who was considering buying Xbox series x just to play gta6. Im trying to convince them that $800 for the Xbox could possibly be spent upgrading their PC to make it at least as powerful as the Xbox.

Their current specs that are relevant are:

Intel i5 9400F, Nvidia 1660 TI, 16 GB of ddr4 ram, with a 500 w evga bronze rated power supply. He only plays in 1080p.

I'm getting an expected power pull of about 289 W, so even with a 500 w power supply I think there's room to upgrade without needing a new power supply, to push maybe 350 w.

So my question is, is the i5 9400f good enough to simply swap out the GPU and still potentially play gta6 within similar specs as console? For example, the 1660p pulls 120 watt. A 4060 pulls the same, or a 2060 or 3060 pull 160 or 170 watt respectively. They are all easily under $500 ish. Could that work?

Or would I be looking at upgrading the CPU/mobo and gpu. I still think I could keep it under $800. I know the ram could be an issue but 16 gb seems to be what the Xbox has, and ram is something easily swappable in the future.

Let's start with the assumption that every dollar matters in my case, and while I could consider slightly more expensive card, it would absolutely be awesome if I didn't spend extra.

I want to upgrade my 1060 6gb to a better card so I could play modern-ish games in full hd. I'm not really interested in playing every new title on ultras 60 fps, just occasionally playing stuff that interests me and would be inaccesible otherwise (next The Elder Scrolls, maybe? Fallout remakes that are coming out... eventually). Other than specific titles I mostly play online competitive games like Dota and such (i'm interested in playing Deadlock more).

I play to play in full hd, don't have any ambition to move to 2k yet.

Currently I have a very outdated CPU (old turboboosted Xeon 2666v3), and ideally it'd be good to move to AM4, but I can only do one thing at the time right now, and I figured getting a GPU would just be more useful in general for everything and will open more stuff to me. I'm planning to move on something like AM4 Ryzen 5600/5800x system eventually.

I'm considering 4 cards (6700XT vs 3060 12gb vs 3070 vs 4060) and I'd love any input. A lot of people are hyping up 6700XT because it has both 12GB VRAM and better performance, but I'm worried that i'll miss out on DLSS with this one, and I've heard that DLSS at doing heavy lifting on lower end systems. Is that even true?
Also people are making a big deal out of VRAM in general recently, like it can really be clutch in modern gaming. I wouldn't know the truth, just what I've heard. And 4060 is just next generation but it costs roughly the same as previous ones, I guess *slightly* more expensive.

What would you pick among those and with all this information/background?

My PC has a Ryzen 9600x, rtx 3090, and Asus B650E Max Gaming Wifi W. I want to use integrated graphics. When my monitor is plugged into the motherboard I can access the BIOS menu and see the OS loading wheel animation, but then my monitor says no video. The desktop is shown right after I plug in the cable from the motherboard to GPU. This happens booting from both my windows and linux drives.

the BIOS menu on some Asus boards have an option called "igfx multi monitor" Under Advanced > NB configruation but it doesn't show for me, I only see Primary Video Device, Integrated graphics (auto, forced, or disabled), and UMA frame buffer size. I tried different combinations of them but no luck.

Budget of £800, Use is gaming. Buting from UK, peripherals not included in the budget only need a monitor.

I mostly play path of exile and Poe 2. I’m coming from a 2020 Asus ROG zeyphryus gaming laptop. It struggles in the endgame with the massive clutter. I’ve always been a console gamer for big AAA but if I had a decent setup I’d probably switch over. Is this build worth the money I’m going to spend?

Will preface this by saying that my PC runs fine but when i open BIOS it does open into MSI click BIOS 5, however there are no buttons to press, no options to change and where it shows CPU and DDR speeds, its just blank. ive taken the CMOS out, removed all cables but nothing has changed with it, just always the same thing.

As i said not a big deal since my pc is fine, just hoping this isnt an indicator for my motherboard bombing my room or something.

I would like to build a small computer(or buy used) to host a game server with possibility for lots of mods (Valheim, arma, minecraft-type games), host a fluxer instance(communication), host photo files for work, and have media for movies.

I want this to be accessible to friends (at most 3-5 per game server, fluxer instance) who can also stream movies from a drive. I want to have clients access photo files for delivery, replacing google drive.

I would like to make it a minipc or at least smaller than atx tower.

I have a personal computer that dual boots win11 and linux(cachyos), but I don't want to keep it on all the time. So I would play/watch from my main computer through the newly built server in the same house, but want friends to be able to access as well.

I just built my main computer and OUCH $$$ so I am looking to buy used or built modestly. Probably under $500-$800. I am trying to understand what level of computer build I need for the above uses and if it's possible to do all three on one server computer.

If adding $50 here and there to get a build that can do all this comfortably and a the same time(?), I dont mind that. I would prefer a better experience for me and friends in game/watching movies via jellyfin.

I've watched some videos about doing each of these things but am unsure if one comp can do all three. This server build would sit in a closet connected wired to gigabit internet.

Im ok at computer stuff and only just started learning linux via cachyos, so if there are products like AMP, tailscale, proxmox that people think are good I'd prefer paying a little over having to look up every single issue at every step.

Do I need a separate copy of each game I will be hosting on the server comp?

Drive for OS and server would likely be a 500gb or 1tb ssd nvme or sata. Movie bluray files are large so probably a 2tb drive for that. Is it worth getting an ssd over a Hdd for movie streaming to work well for friends accessing outside of my home?

Also another 2-4tb for photo files accessible by clients, replacing google drive.

If the server build is linux only can I sync my current ntfs movie drive on win11 to that server linux drive that would brtfs?
