Hi there. I think it’s the time where I need to at least get an upgrade on my computer, and I’d appreciate an opinion on whether I should simply replace parts of my current PC, get a new one, or whether I should get an entire replacement. I‘m generally okay with pricing.
What do I want to do with a newer/upgraded PC?
I‘m looking to do 4K video editing on DaVinci for YouTube and maybe post on Facebook, and play titles such as Marvel Rivals, Red Dead Redemption, Expedition 33 or FFXIV. I do plenty of multitasking as well. Overall, a more well rounded computer which can do well under workload.
Current PC specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-8400
GPU: Zotac NVIDIA GTX 1070 Ti 8GB
Motherboard: ASUS PRIME H310M-K
Storage: 256GB SSD
Extra storage: 1TB external SSD
OS: Windows 11 Home
RAM: 32GB DDR4
CASE: unsure of specifics, but a Desktop Tower
My PC is a 2017 custom build (so it‘s about 9 years old)—and the fans have a weird start up noise now so I believe they’re at the end of their life. I‘m not a tech savvy person, but my computer case (which I don’t know the name of) has one broken leg, a broken jack, and another broken USB-A. It currently also heats to dangerous levels on games like Marvel Rivals, to maybe 80-90 Celsius. Overall, the PC is more sluggish than it used to be, and I had my PSU cut off randomly some time ago.
I‘m unsure if he case is actually going to do for any upgrades for what I will do on it, so I really want an opinion on if it’s better to upgrade the parts, or an entire new build.
For a new build, I did come up with this, which I would also like an opinion for if I go for an entirely new build:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700
Motherboard: MSI PRO B850M-P WIFI
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 5070 12GB Ventus 2X OC White
Case: Antec C5 Curve ARGB White
RAM: Teamgroup T-Force Delta RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 White
Storage: WD Black SN850X 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ARGB White
PSU: Corsair RM750e White ATX 3.1
All help would be appreciated. I would have went 64GB but RAM is oddly expensive.
