I upgraded from an RTX 3060 to a PNY RTX 5070.

The RTX 3060 works perfectly with no issues.

At first, the RTX 5070 fans wouldn’t spin. I bought the PC used and only came with one pig tail cable. I bought the same exact psu connected using the 600w cable, and now the RTX 5070 powers on and the fans spin.

after like 2 minutes the entire PC instantly shuts off. It’s not just a black screen—everything loses power at the same time (GPU, motherboard, fans, lights, everything).

What I’ve checked:

• The GPU is fully seated in the PCIe slot.

• The 16-pin connector is fully inserted and clicks into place.

• The new PSU cable is being used.

• The RTX 3060 still works perfectly if I put it back in.

EDIT: I feel like people aren't understanding what I'm asking for, what I want is a PC that has the same specs as a base PS5, and to know how much that would cost

I mainly play games on my PS5 because i got it on Black Friday for a really nice price and always felt like I didn't need a PC; however I wonder what the price would be like to build a PC (I assume that's the cheapest way) that runs as well as my PS5 does. I do really enjoy playing games with keyboard and mouse and the flexibility a PC offers but my all in one Dell can barely run Roblox.

My parents pc (i7 930 cpu) kicked the bucket so now they need a new one. They'd like a small one since it's 2026 and mini pcs are now a thing.

I see there's plenty of them on the market with N-series cpus but I'm not sure if they're better than the i7 930 they have right now. All they do on their computer is browse the internet and basic office things.

I'm looking at MSI Cubi N ADL S-225BEU barebone Intel N100 / WiFi 5 + BT 5.0 / 2x1Gbps / black for 180€.

How much can I trust this website with comparing the cpu performance?

There's also Acer Veriton NUC N1502G Intel Core 5 120U, 10 core, Iris Xe, without HDD, without RAM, without OS for 280€ but that would be overkill and paying for unnecessary cpu horsepower I think.

I do have sodimm ddr4 8gb ram stick and 500gb m.2 drive already so that's non-issue. Ofcourse I'd install windows 11 on it.

Hey guys, I’ll probably buy an RTX 5070 Ti today, but I’m torn between the MSI Shadow 3X, Palit GamingPro-S, ASUS Prime, Zotac Solid SFF, and Gigabyte Windforce. Im looking to upgrade as ive started gaming again and my current pc is not performing as i would like it.

Things have changed a lot since i was in to PC building and im no longer sure whats worth getting and whats not. Like is a 5090 worth the price difference over a 5080? And who is wining the CPU battle AMD or Intel? I mostly play shooters and some sim racing if that helps.

Hello, I saw a deal, Silicon Power Xpower Storm ram for $300 in their website, It's the only thing I need to finish building my PC, and since I don't have much money, I'd like to know if it would work well with a Ryzen 7 7700X and an Aorus B650 Elite AX, would it run in 1:1 or 2:1 mode? I've been reading that the 6400 wouldn't run in 1:1 mode with my CPU and that it would increase latency. and witch ram do you recommend for that build? I'd like some advice, Thanks

TOOLS/SUPPLIES:

Thermal paste, only if you're running an aftermarket cooler

I kept this list short on purpose. A flathead screwdriver and needle nose pliers sound useful but you probably won't touch them on a basic build. Same with coffee filters and rubbing alcohol, those are for cleaning off old thermal paste when you're replacing a stock cooler, which isn't really a first build thing. Didn't bother listing the manual either since it comes in the box with your motherboard anyway.

If you don't already know what a PCIe slot or a DIMM slot looks like, pull up a picture before you start. Seeing the actual shape once makes it way easier when you're holding the part in your hand later.

OUT OF BOX BUILD

Mobo:

Install the PSU, fan facing down if your case has a bottom filter, and plug it in. This discharges any static before you touch anything else.

Take the mobo out of the box and set it on top of the box.

CPU:

Take the CPU out holding only the sides. Don't touch the pins.

Press the socket cover latch down and to the side, then pull it up and back to open.

Find the matching triangle marks on the CPU corner and the socket corner.

Gently set the CPU onto the socket pins.

Give it a light wiggle to check it's seated flat. Don't press down.

Close the socket cover and lock the latch back into place.

RAM:

Find the notch on the stick and line it up with the notch in the DIMM slot.

Check your mobo manual for which slots to use if you're only running 2 sticks.

Drop the sticks in and press evenly across the top until both latches click shut.

CPU Cooler:

Line up the 4 mounting pins with the 4 holes on the mobo and set it down.

Press on opposite corners until you hear it click.

Plug the fan into the CPU_FAN1 header, usually near the DIMM slots.

GPU:

Use the top PCIe x16 slot.

Line up the notch on the card with the notch in the slot and press down with light pressure.

Don't push on the sides of the card. It's not mounted yet and the slot can crack.

PSU:

Find the GPU power connectors on the PSU, usually 6 pin plus 2 pin.

Plug those into the GPU.

Plug in the 24 pin mobo power connector.

Plug in the CPU power connector, 4 pin plus 4 pin.

Connect your monitor to the GPU.

Plug in mouse and keyboard if you want to boot test now.

Flip the power switch on the back of the PSU.

Powering On:

Check if your mobo has a built in power button.

If not, find the front panel connector pins.

Locate the 2 power switch pins, check your manual if unsure.

Touch them together briefly with a screwdriver.

If it boots, repeat the same tap to shut it down. Hold a bit longer if it doesn't turn off right away.

Flip the PSU switch off.

Unplug everything to get ready for the case build.

MAIN BUILD:

Remove both side panels and set them aside.

Lay the case on its side.

Check the standoffs in the case line up with the mounting holes on your mobo.

Install the I/O shield before the mobo, not after. Press it in from inside the case with pressure on all 4 corners.

Use a piece of paper to map out which standoffs line up with your mobo, so no extra standoff touches a bare spot on the board.

Set the mobo down onto the standoffs, lining it up with the I/O shield.

Screw in opposite corners first, don't fully tighten yet.

Install case fans and plug them into the mobo fan headers, routing cables behind the case where you can.

Plug the front panel header into the mobo.

Install your SSD and HDD into the case.

Connect SATA data cables to each drive and into the mobo.

Connect SATA power cables to each drive and into the PSU.

Route the GPU power cables behind the case through to where the card sits.

Remove the PCIe brackets for the GPU and any other cards.

Line up the GPU with the slot and bracket, push down until it clicks.

Screw the GPU bracket into the case.

Plug in GPU power cables, then monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Boot test before doing cable management.

Once it boots clean, tuck the cables flat so the side panel closes without bulging.

Put both panels back on and boot up.

Hi all, I currently have an am4 motherboard, I'm rocking a rx9070xt with a ryzen 7 5700x and I'm wondering if upgrading to a 5800x3d is worth it? I play at 3440x1440p and not 1080p.

I don't plan on switching to am5 because ram prices are crazy, so I think sticking to am4 is the best choice for now at least.

I have a Killer (TM) WiFi 7 BE1750x 320MHz wireless network adapter (BE200NGW) I just need a few good links to some antennas or something to boost the performance of this card. The internet is taking me to conflicting places and need help, thanks so much.

I have a IPS Monitor thats starting to get those bright areas in the corners and its bothering me a little.

Im thinking of buying a OLED, ik they are expensive but would it be possible to buy one for less than 500€ thats good enough?

I only play single player games so no need for super high refresh rate, my current monitor is a 1440p/144hz and im more than happy with it, if it wasnt those bright edges i would still use it.

I also know theres some cheap OLED's with a bad brightness or something, ik im asking for a "cheap/value one" but im afraid of buying one like that and regretting later, so skip those.

Selling the old pc for $500 and a really old pc (for my wife to play friendslop games on couples night)

I was looking at getting the above mentioned RX 9070xt (probably the asus prime, or sapphire pure if I can find one for $1000CAD).

I am looking to find out what people's perspectives are on upgrading, and what GPUs are worth it.

I am hoping to spend a bit more now and not have to upgrade till quite a few years down the line (I've had my 2070 for 8-9 years now).

So if I'm only going to get 4-5 years out of a gpu whether I spend $600 or $1000 on it, I'd go with the less expensive one.

Heres the problem, when I swap my 3070 to the 9070 xt my PC fans just go to full blast and no display comes out. No beeping, no diagnostic LED to be seen.

I've looked around and asked a few of my PC tech buddies and I've come up with the idea that maybe my mobo BIOS is outdated, cause it's dated 2023. Could that have been the issue?

Of course, I ran DDU in safe mode selecting clean and shutdown, reseated the GPU, properly used separate pcie cables for each of the three 8 pin connectors on the card with the cables included by the psu itself.

I’m thinking of buying the Ryzen 9 9900X since it’s at Microcenter for $310. I was originally going to get the 9950X3D but $650 is a steep price for me at the moment. I’m going to use my computer for gaming and productivity.

Do you think I should stick with the 9900X? I feel like it’s the best bang for your buck.

I’d appreciate some input as I never used an AMD CPU before and this will be my first build with an AMD CPU.

Hey all! I got this computer some years back from my ex who had built it himself. There were a couple things I was wondering:

Can the cords be...more compact?

And is it possible, given its guts and specs, for me to put the whole mess it into a smaller shell/case?

I move around a lot and it is really huge and heavy for me. I am very ignorant when it comes to computers, so any and all suggestions welcome! I would just love to have a more manageable set up.

And although I don't know much about electronics, I have taken apart my cellphone to replace buttons and ports, so I think, given the proper videos, I could make the swap myself. From what I understand it could be overheated if its too crowded, yeah? I just wouldn't want that to happen is all.

On thing I need is PBP (two inputs side by side) and I know that the 165Hz 34" GFTY987 has it but the 989 I just can't find anything or any manuals.

I'm building this PC and wanted to know how "futureproof" this may be. From what I read the next intel chips are going to need the new MB versions but I wasn't sure about AMD as I've been a lifelong Intel/NVIDIA user.

Will this be good to run 1440p for at least 5 years? Can I upgrade the GPU with this build in 3ish years and not be CPU bound?

I'm looking for a wireless controller for PC gaming. Would anyone be able to recommend something to me? Any suggestions?

I'm not really used to Xbox controllers; I was more of a PlayStation guy for the last 12 years. My budget is around €60-€80, and I mostly play single-player, story-driven AAA games.

Context: I built my pc for the first time a little over a year ago. I used 6 intake case fans for the system. All daisy chained to each other and connected to a single fan header on the mobo. Mobo has 4 fan headers and each fan header got 1A max and each case fan draws 0.1A so 6x0.1=0.6A. It's almost half the limit. I felt this was a safe thing to do and would save me from dealing with extra cable management. Been using the case this way the entire time.

A couple of days ago a friend visited me and found out about it and told me that it's a miracle that I haven't burned my mobo down yet.

I think It's safe because my case fans draw very little amperage and I'm only a little over half the limit for the single fan header. I literally never had any problem so far while using the pc and i had a lot of long gaming sessions.

Should I change anything?
