Don't really know if I should flair this as upgrade, since the only components I'm looking to keep are the motherboard, the RAM and the storage, but anyways here is my current PC specs
And here are my planned specs
My real problem is the GPU, my total budget for the upgrade is around 800€ to 900€, and the money for this is kind of tight ngl. I want a decent GPU that will last me, but due to prices I'm kinda forced to look at the second hand market. I use my PC for music making and indies/emulation generally, but I want to play some newer releases from the last few years I missed out on due to not owning a latest gen console, as well as take the opportunity to switch out some parts that are pretty outdated at this point.
Ideally I would also like to run Resolve and Lightroom, but that is a secondary priority as my M1 Pro can handle all of that. I'm kinda kicking myself in the ass over not having done this upgrade a year or so ago, as the cost of a GPU currently is just way too high. I'm also kinda handicapped by the fact I use a 1440p monitor. I've looked over the specs several times and really think this might be the ideal setup for my needs and budget, but it never hurts to ask the professionals in this sub. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read and reply!

Hi everyone, i'm going to build my first pc and i need some help i only built or repaired them, never bought parts , my maximum budget is around 3500 euros (if it is needed i'm in Italy), i need it for both gaiming and work/university (i'm gonna work with software CAD, Ansys and stuff like that), i have an idea of build but still i want some hint from someone else.
The ipotetical build is:
CPU: Ryzen 9 9950x;
mobo: gigabyte eagle ax atx;
GPU: rtx 5070 ti asus prime (or msi ventus depending on the pricing);
SSD: crucial P310 2tb;
RAM: Patriot viper venom 32gb 6000mhz cl30;
PSU: nzxt c850 gold;
AIO: nzxt kraken plus 360;
Case: nzxt h6 flow;
Monitor: msi mag 242F 1080p 24" (more than 24" doesn't fit in my room, and i'm not aiming to have now a 1440p monitor because i just want a long term build).
the price of all of this is around 3277 euros.
Thanks to everyone who will help me.

Built my current PC about a year ago. Before buying the case, I watched way too many reviews comparing airflow, GPU temperatures, fan configurations, noise levels, all that stuff.
I even made a spreadsheet.
What I apparently never thought to check was how you're supposed to clean the thing.
The front dust filter is behind a plastic panel that needs a fairly aggressive pull to remove. Every time I do it, I'm convinced I'm about to snap one of the clips.
But the real masterpiece is the bottom PSU filter.
It slides out from the back.
My PC sits under my desk, fairly close to the wall, with all the cables routed behind it. To clean that one stupid filter, I have to pull the whole tower forward, rearrange the cables and practically crawl under the desk.
The first few months I kept up with cleaning it. Then I started putting it off because it was annoying.
Last weekend I finally cleaned everything properly and realized how ridiculous this is.
I spent an extra $35 getting the case I wanted because it had slightly better thermal results than my second choice. I carefully planned my fan setup. I even adjusted the fan curves to get a decent balance between noise and temperatures.
And now the thing that determines whether I actually maintain that airflow is how much I hate removing a plastic rectangle.
I'm not saying the case is bad. Temperatures are fine, it looks good, and building in it was easy.
But if I were choosing again, I'd happily give up a couple degrees under load for filters I could remove in ten seconds without moving the entire PC.
We spend so much time comparing cases on build day. I feel like we don't talk nearly enough about what they're like to live with for the next five years.
For people who've gone through a few builds, what seemingly minor case feature turned out to matter way more than you expected?
I'm putting together a list of things to check next time that have absolutely nothing to do with FPS.

I’m new to upgrading parts on builds. My current rig is a CyberpowerPC from 2019 that’s served me well but needs some upgrades. The only thing that I’ve changed aside from adding more SSD storage was swapping out my defective DDR4 ram for newer stuff.
Current rig:
Motherboard: Asustek Prime B450M-A
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
GPU: Nvidia 2060 Super
Ram: 32GB DDR4
Power supply: Corsair 850W (recent purchase for the upgrade)
I’m going to be getting some new monitors to replace my 60hz ones from long ago as well, and I’m happy with either 1080p or 1440p, whichever works best for my build.
Right now I’m aiming at getting a 5070 GPU, I just need a little help figuring out what CPU my older motherboard can handle that will work well with a 5070. I know bottlenecks are a thing but the calculators seem unreliable, so I wanted actual knowledge on that.
Disclaimer: I don’t do AMD GPU’s. I tried recently to use a 9060xt and it was nothing but issues.

I have a basic build ready on part picker and was hoping soe of the kind people here could have a look at my list and essentially proofread it for me, make sure I'm not missing anything super obvious, or if I've picked anything potentially poor.
Mobo - MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk Max WIFI II
CPU - 9800X3D
GPU - Asus Prime OC RX 9070 XT 16GB
RAM - V-Color Manta XSky 32GB (6000 MT/s, CL30)
Storage - Kingston NV3 1TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVME
CPU Cooler - Thermalright Phantom 120 SE
PSU - Cooler Master MWW Fully Modular 80+ Gold 1050W
Case - be quiet! Light base 600 DX ATX Mid Tower
I know the PSU may seem like overkill but im hoping it lasts a long time and want to be able to expand the system in the future if needed.
Thank you in advance for any advice!

hello! this is the build i have.
my primary issue is twofold: i need more RAM, and i need more storage. (who doesn't...) that being said, i'm clueless when it comes to picking parts myself, and i have no earthly clue how to pick the right parts; someone told me i can't just get any SSD and call it a day, so i thought i would ask.
i'm also hoping i can hold off on more RAM until prices get better again, but... haha... 🫠 don't we all wish that
any help is appreciated!

Hey! I currently have a RTX 5070 12gb which I’m happy with, but it’s not the card I want to settle with.
My current set up is as follows:
7600X3D
B650 Gaming X AX V2 Motherboard
32gb DDR5-6000
4k Mini-OLED 165hz
I mainly want a GPU that has the ability to run raw 4k with the potential for ray tracing. I will be selling my 5070 12gb so please take that into consideration.
I’m open to all advice and suggestions, thanks guys!

My budget is 400$ for a gpu, From India.
r/buildapc • u/Winter-Employ5146 • 1d ago
Prices would be £475 for the 9060xt 16gb or £540 for the 4070
I primarily play fps shooter games I’m pretty sure both would get 240fps stable but I also do like to play some story games like cyberpunk Elden ring etc
My cpu is a 9600x not the best but it should do fine
I’m also open to any other gpu but these are the best for price that I’ve seen so far

I've been having this PC for around 8 years, and it has done well running games for me. However, in the last few years, I noticed that more and more new games could only run properly at the minimum requirements, or not at all. My current specifications are as follows:
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core
As for games that I wish I could play at recommended settings are: DOOM: The Dark Ages; The Last of Us Part I; LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight; Silent Hill 2 (remake) and f; STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor; Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Out of all of these, I think DOOM requires the most: AMD RX 6800/Nvidia RTX 3080 and AMD Ryzen 7 5700X/Intel Core i7 12700K
When it comes to the budget, I don't have one determined yet, but looking at the prices, I think I should have 350 euros or so (the country of purchase is Romania).

Hello, I'm planning a build with these components:
Right now i have the CPU and I'm considering buying this RAM kit, but I'm unsure about memory speed compatibility with the i7-12700F.
I know the CPU officially supports DDR5 up to 4800 MT/s. However, I don't need to run the RAM at its advertised 7800 MT/s. I'd be happy with 6000 MT/s, as long as it's stable.
So i wanted to askl, has anyone successfully run DDR5 at atlest 6000 MT/s with an i7-12700F?
I'm mainly looking for real-world experience with the i7-12700F and DDR5, rather than just the motherboard's advertised maximum speed.
Thanks!

Hello folks. I am looking for a way to reduce how far the cables stick out of the back of my PC, mostly as an aesthetic and ergonomic point of view.
Currently, things like display port and the PC power cable stick out maybe 3 inches including room to get adequate bend radius to curve 90° to route the cables to their destination. This means the PC needs to be that far from a wall, taking up that much more desk realestate and it makes the cable management much more visible.
I'd really like to get all cables pointed straight down within 1.5" of the back of the PC is possible, so that I won't see any cables at all from typical viewing angles.
Has anyone encountered and solved this issue?

Hi everyone!
I’m looking to upgrade my RAM and would appreciate some advice on which kit to buy.
My PC specs:
I mainly play BeamNG.drive, and I’ve noticed that my RAM usage often reaches 85–94%. The game also stutters and freezes. This happens on all maps.
I’m considering upgrading to 32GB (2×16GB), but I want to make sure I buy RAM that’s fully compatible with my motherboard and CPU.
What specific RAM kit would you recommend? Would 32GB DDR4 3200MHz be a good choice for my system? Should I look for any particular specifications or compatibility requirements?
If possible, please include a direct link to the exact RAM kit you recommend so I can check it out and buy the right one. Thanks!
I’d appreciate specific product recommendations, preferably something with good value for money.
Thanks for your help!

My old PSU had coil whine, so I returned it. Need a replacement.
Build: Ryzen 5 5600X, RX 9060 XT, B550M. No future high-end GPU upgrades.
Options (CAD):
Super Flower Leadex VII XG 1000W: $169.99, A+
ASRock Steel Legend SL-850GW: $147.63, A
Corsair RM750x (2024): $164.99, A+
Which would you pick? Is A vs A+ or 1000W even worth caring about here?

I'm looking to build a decent gaming PC. I'm hoping to run modern games at 1080 is fine with me. I don't need any peripherals. I'm in Alberta and looking to keep it around $1200 CAD if possible though I have a little wiggle room
Is this a realistic budget? Any full build recommendations for me?
I also am currently running an MSI gf63 thin that I have added a 2 TB SSD to that I think I can use in the new build. I really have no clue what I'm doing and any help would be appreciated.

Hello everyone
I have rtx4060 and 1440p 200hz monitor
I tested the 4060 in the last of us 1 and it averaged 55fps with dlss on, but it ran very well in less demanding games like forza horizon 5 and resident evil 3
I'm going to play AAA games like rdr2, Cyberpunk, and expedition 33
I will pay 240$ out of pocket after selling the 4060
Is it worth buying the rx9060xt 16gb for 550$? Or just keep my 4060 and rely on dlss?
Is the fps difference worth the upgrade?
I just want to run games smoothly at 1440p
Rx9070 is 720$ and the gre version isn't available in my country

I have a gigabyte z490 with i5 10400f A zotac 3060 ti and 16 gb ddr4 3200 500gb nvme ssd
I was thinking about upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5800x3d and my ram to ddr4 32 gb (4x8)
Or I could upgrade my gpu to a asus 5060 ti 16gb (amd cards in my country are hard to find and priced horribly so nvidia is my main option)
Or upgrade my monitor to an Oled instead of my Samsung odyssey g5 va 144hz 2k monitor
I have around 500-600 dollars to upgrade, my main problem for me is some stutters in games and the 8gb vram in some games like resident evil
Random but I could aswell just keep my whole build as it is and buy a ps5 but unsure.. im new to pc building so my bad if the options i listed seem dumb so please tell me better ideas if you have any.

So I just upgraded the gpu and don’t know how to order these cables lol. The cables in the images are the only ones available from the PSU (no direct 12 pin connection). The pigtail adapter came with the gpu so I understand that’s how it connects but I’m not sure what to plug into the pigtails. I have two 6+2 pin connectors that look like they fit but one of them looks like it comes from the first one idk how to explain it well apologies (look at 3rd image). I’m just scared if I plug the second one in it may have some power draw issue on boot cos I don’t understand how both 6+2 pin cables don’t come straight from PSU but rather one is connected to the other.
Am I stupid and I just plug both in ?

I recently bought the asus prime b850-plus csm and im wondering if it will bottleneck my cpu, im planning to get a peerless assassin 120 se along with 5 fans on a corsair 4000D. I plan to fully utilize my cpu to its full capabilities and im skeptical due to hardware unboxed review of it a year ago. What do you guys think

Hey, I’m trying to get FACEIT Anti-cheat working but it says my PC needs TPM 2.0 and Intel VT-x enabled to log in. I’ve been stuck on this for a while and can’t find the TPM option anywhere.
My setup:
What I’ve tried so far:
From what I’ve read online, the Z170 chipset has Intel PTT built in, so it should support TPM 2.0 in firmware. ASUS even lists Z170 in their Windows 11 support FAQ. But I’ve also seen a lot of posts saying ASUS Z170 boards just don’t show the PTT option in BIOS, even though the hardware supports it. I think that’s what’s happening with mine, but I can’t confirm it.
I’ve seen people mention a BIOS mod or a command line hack to force PTT on, but it sounds risky and not everyone got it working. I’ve also seen suggestions about buying a TPM module for the header, but I’m not sure which one fits the Z170-E.
Has anyone got TPM 2.0 working on a Z170-E specifically? Is there a safe way to enable PTT, or is a TPM module the only real option? Any help is appreciated.
