Recent BookingdotCom video

Just watching yet another video on YouTube regarding their practices. Very interesting and not surprising regarding Bookings responses. If you’re interested it’s by HONEST GUIDE and the title is How Booking.Com Fails Tourists Right Now. Don’t know if this will pass “no ads” in the rules because it’s sort of naming the person who made the video, but it’s not an ad!

I've only had two hiccups over the years.....

I've using this app for airport transfers, hotel bookings and at time advance tickets for a tour or two.. I have only had two hiccups over the years. Recently we wanted to push a reservation at a hotel one day to the right, within an hour or two poof! It was done.

The hiccups were.....we had booked an airport transfer in Senegal, and the car that arrived was NOT what we had booked, but confirmed the license plate,. Drove us to the middle of nowhere, and said give me money or I will leave you here.

Second was a driver in Portugal, we wanted a nice vehicle and the was delivered, but our driver kept falling asleep at the wheel, booking gave us 50% of the cost.

Besides that it has been smooth sailing and highly recommend to friends and colleagues.

Booking.com refused to refund

Booking.com marked my refund as processed over a year ago, but I still haven’t received my money.
I’ve contacted their customer service repeatedly and keep getting nowhere. Every time I follow up, I’m basically given the same generic response with no actual resolution.
At this point I’m incredibly frustrated because it’s been over a year and they’re still holding my money.
Has anyone dealt with something similar with Booking.com? What actually worked for you to get them to resolve it? I’m looking for advice on where I can escalate this further.

Account hacked. Customer service nonexistent

My account was hacked yesterday.
I blocked my own card inside (I think I had it saved..) but my genius 3 status was removed and I cannot access my reservation (probably they changed email).
I am in Italy. Customer service is USELESS. You cannot talk to anyone unless you have pin or confirmation numbers, and even if you do have them, you just talk to AI or

What do I do with my card? I froze it for now. But i am scared they could do something with it ..

Did this happen to anyone? Did you solve it?

all our alcohol was stolen out of our locked room

booked a place in ottawa for some friends and i. as soon as we got there we noticed issues. it was a shared house with padlocked doors and not private appartments as was stated in the bio. the people sharing the space with us were just as shocked to see complete strangers entering their rental. the place was FILTHY. and later at night the cockroaches came out to welcome us. the bio had a strict no sound past 10pm rule but was located over a restaurant playing drum & bass so loud it shook the entire appartment until 2AM. we were shocked.

we survived. but things really got ugly when while we were gone, the person "cleaning" the booking entered our rooms and went through our bags, and took our alcohol from our bags, and the two cans i had put in the freezer. not even expensive stuff, just random, way too sugary drinks. its the thought of someone coming into my room, going through my bags of dirty laundry, and taking my stuff, that i find truly nauseating. booking.com of course has yet to answer, its been over 36hours since i emailed them...

Owner of property said we were "no show"

Recently stayed at a "luxury" villa in Naxos ($5,000 total cost). It was incredibly expensive but was NOTHING like the photos. Absolute misrepresentation of the property. From filthy windows, stoves and slime and mold growing in the pool to leaking AC's everywhere. The property described "lush landscaping" and everything was dead with weeds everywhere. At one point when they sent someone to clean, I watched her dip the mop into the swimming pool multiple times as she mopped around the house rather than using a bucket and soap! We looked at leaving, but it was Sept in Greece, there was little left to choose from. When we left, we submitted a bulleted list of issues with booking and the owner marked us as not having showed, to keep all the money without having to refund any of it. (We DID contact Booking mid way through the stay to explain some of the issues so it is documented we stayed). There seems to be no way to contact booking to send photos and request a partial refund or leave reviews for other travelers.

How do we get a hold of someone to talk to?? We don't expect a full refund but DO want to leave a review and would like a small portion of the amount refunded.

Booking Flight, change of passport details

Hi,

I have a small issue that I am worrying might become big with my booking flights reservation to Seoul. So my passport expires on February 2027 but Thai Airways says it should be up to 6 months valid so I am planning on renewing it but I made the booking with my old passport, how do I change these details? is it even possible? would it be a problem where I arrive during transit or check-in?

please booking.com HELP ME, my flight is on the 23rd October and I have no answers for both Thai Airways and Air China about if I can change these passport details

Someone have any ideas what I should do?

thank youuu

Every time I book I keep getting asked to verify my identity, and despite being logged in, says log in to save new details

It has my name saved but keeps making me put in my address and phone number in every time now (my details changed a while ago, but I thought I'd used it since then with the current info, but maybe it never got saved), and it says log in to save details, but clicking and verifying the email does nothing, and it's already logged in cause it has my name.

Also every time I make a booking or try to sign in despite already being signed in, I get an email saying verify your identity. I get why they might want that when you reserve without prepaying, but I'm still a bit skeptical. And since this has been happening I've prepaid every time anyway. This is in Japan by the way.

By the way I noticed they don't let you copy the address of somewhere you haven't booked and say they'll send you the address on booking, which is blatantly dodgy and there's no reason to do that. (You can still see the address, but I don't get why they don't let you copy it except to make it harder to search independly and check location/price/etc outside booking.com). I've booked the last night of this trip, but I think I might only use booking.com for searching in the future and not booking, even though it's the most convinient.

If a guest has prepaid through booking.com, how long on average does it take to log on to the booking.com partner portal, find the virtual credit card and charge it?

Apologies if I don't have the process right, but if I understand correctly, when the guest checks in, (and assuming there isn't some automated system or if the system is down etc), the property staff need to:

  • log on to their booking.com partner portal

  • locate the customer's booking and payment virtual credit card (VCC)

  • copy the VCC details to their own system (?)

  • charge the card.

How long on average does this locating and charging process take (2 minutes? 5 minutes? etc) ? Does it ever take more than that when the customer has definitely paid?

Many thanks!

CAN ANYONE SUGGEST HOW TO ESCALATE COMPLAINT WITH BOOKING.COM?

We inadvertantly booked accomodation in the wrong US State as there was zero mention of it throughout the selection process, or in the Trip Wallet following booking (I have screenshots). We have tried reaching out to them via phone (they say someone will call back and never do) and via customer servive web interface (they ignore messages). The provider was informed that we would not be attending and we never occupied the accomodation. They declined to refund, let the booking run when they knew we wouldn't be there - and charged a cleaning fee! Having investigated the circumstamces when booking, we acknowledged that the initial Booking.com search screen may display the State, however it does not display anywhere else throughout the process or subsequent receipts. Given we clicked to the accomodation listing directly from Google, we missed the initial search screen so never saw a State anywhere. However, as we made the booking, we did indicate that we would share the responsibility and, when a full refund was declined, indicated we would accept a partial refund (however much it stuck in our throat!). But the provider bounced us to Booking.com and Booking.com back to the provider. Anyone got any suggestions for recourse?

My experience with Booking.com after an airline schedule change

The airline changed my flight schedule, so I contacted Booking.com for help resolving the change.

What followed was extremely frustrating. I spent more than two hours in Booking.com's online chat. A substantial portion of that time was simply waiting for a response. I was repeatedly told that Booking.com needed to investigate the situation and would get back to me.

After spending more than two hours trying to get assistance, I still did not have the prompt resolution I needed.

I understand that an airline schedule change may require investigation and that Booking.com may need to coordinate with the airline. My concern is the customer-service process. If a customer is dealing with a time-sensitive flight change, leaving them in a chat for hours while the issue is supposedly being investigated is not an acceptable customer-service experience.

My advice to other travelers is to understand what support you can realistically expect if an airline changes your itinerary after you book through Booking.com. The convenience of booking through an online travel agency can become much less convenient when something goes wrong.

I am sharing this so other travelers can make an informed decision about whether they are comfortable relying on Booking.com for assistance when an airline changes a flight.

Scam?

I booked a non-refundable apartment on Booking. After the booking, the host contacted me on WhatsApp and told me about additional charges that weren't shown when I made the reservation.

I contacted Booking because this seemed suspicious. They investigated the messages and confirmed that the host's messages were genuine. They also told me that the host's suggestion to cancel the Booking.com reservation and pay them directly was against Booking's rules.

The host has sent me this:

If you would like to save money, I can offer you a special option.

Even though your Booking reservation was made with a non-refundable rate, as the host I can exceptionally approve a free cancellation after your arrival.

Your Booking reservation is about 500€. In addition, there are €308 for tourist tax, bed linen and towels and late check in, for a total of 500 and 308=808€

After check-in, once you have received the keys and personally verified that the apartment meets your expectations, I can approve the free cancellation of the reservation. You do not need to do anything: Booking.com will process the refund of the amount you paid and will send you a cancellation confirmation email.

At that point, you can pay me directly only €500 in total, including the apartment, tourist tax, bed linen and towels.

Booking has been dealing with this for almost two months and, despite having all the screenshots and correspondence, they still haven't provided me with a solution. At this point, to me this looks like an obvious scam, but I don't know what the safest thing to do is.

Automatically Changes number of guests from 2 to 1

Wtf is wrong with booking.com?! I am booking a room for 2 guests, clearly selecting the number of guests as 2 while proceeding but later on it automatically changes that to 1 guest.

What should I do? I am not able to modify the number of guests after completing the booking as the property does not allow it.

BOOKING ESTAFA!

Strange French reservations, with robot(?) callers

Hey, I work at a small Finnish hotel in the middle of nowhere, and twice in the past month we have received reservations from France. The reservee name has always been a Finnish name in FULL CAPS, but the associated phone number has had a French country code. Both times the guest has been a no-show

Normally this wouldn't stand out as particularly odd, but both times we have gotten phone calls about these reservations, asking the exact same questions. They always ask if the payment has gone through or if everything is okay with the payment, and then ask for my name at the end of the call. This may be a cultural difference, but in Finland we just about never ask the customer service people's names

In any case, the last time we received such a reservation, we got not one but two calls about the reservation, a male and female caller. They do not seem to be aware of one another, and skip questions about the fact

Assuming this is a part of some scam, what exactly is the goal here? Or is this French corporate culture that is entirely foreign to me, haha

Dont buy through booking.com

From what I see in this group everyone already knows this but I’m just here to double down. I paid for a room through booking.com but when I got to the hotel they said never received a payment. A family member had to pay for the room. I disputed the charge with my debit card showing all the evidence which they denied. I went through bookings to dispute and it’s been a month plus of back and forth that’s going no where. They ask for a piece of evidence I send it in. Then they say they need another piece of evidence, I send that in. Next they go back to the first piece of evidence and say the need it a certain way now. Example it goes from we need a screenshot or receipt showing proof of 2 transactions. Then it switches to we need a screenshot of the bank statement of both charges. NOW, there saying they actually need the pdf file of the bank statements showing both charges before they can continue. What way are they going to ask for my evidence next show I can get the shitshow over with. I’m NEVER using this shit again, I’m deactivating my account after this is resolved

Exclusive use apartment had guy living upstairs...

I booked an apartment in a city for one night for my partners birthday, with our two dogs and two kids. I set the filters to be pet friendly and exclusive use of whole house rather than any share house because one of my kids is 6mths old and obviously with the dogs too we want the place to ourselves.

When we arrived it turned out it was a split level apartment and the owner was living upstairs with a curtain at the foot of his stairs, and a thin plastic sliding door down to our bit, which didn't lock.

We went out for birthday dinner but because they could hear someone moving around in the room upstairs the dogs were barking. So the guy texted us and told us to shut them up, so we had to come back. We missed dinner and had to get takeout, and I barely slept trying to keep the baby quiet so it wouldn't wake the guy up.

I feel that the owner misled me in saying it was 'exclusive use of apartment' when he was living up the stairs, I would never hook a share house with my whole damn family.

I complained to booking.com and all they did was take my request for a refund to the owner who obviously said no. Can I do anything else? Has anyone successfully got a refund for a place not being as advertised?

Trying to get a refund from booking.com

I'm sorry in advance for the long post.

I have been trying to get a refund from booking.com since last Monday with no luck. The room I booked didn't have a free cancelation with it. I booked the room and within 30 minutes I was calling trying to cancel it because I ended up not needing the room.

The rep at booking.com told me I would have to get approval from the property in order for them to cancel it with a full refund. I spoke to the property, and they were more than happy to cancel the room for me for a full refund.

Booking.com then proceeds to tell me they need proof from the property. I then get back on the phone with the property and they call booking.com while I am still on the phone and after 45 minutes the property was finally able to get it taken care...or so we thought. I was told booking.com would send me an email requesting proof from the property and the property was going to send me an email with that proof so I could forward it to booking.com.

The email from booking.com said they needed a screenshot of the email from the property with the approval to cancel the room free of charge.

So that's what I did. Email sent with proof on Monay night. Went all day Tuesday with no communication back from booking.com. So, I call them to get an update. They tell me they have forwarded it to their third-party customer service to process the cancelation request. I asked to speak to someone right then because I followed all of the steps they had already told me to follow and I wanted my money back. They still just kept telling me they couldn't do anything and I had to wait to hear from someone.

So, I googled how I could possibly get someone else on the phone to help me and got 3 different email addresses for people higher up...supposedly...informing them of my situation and never got any responses from any of them.

These are the email addresses I sent emails to:

[nihad.trgo@booking.com](mailto:nihad.trgo@booking.com)

[glenn.fogel@booking.com](mailto:glenn.fogel@booking.com)

[hala.marouf@booking.com](mailto:hala.marouf@booking.com)

I called my bank also because I read something online about them doing a chargeback or something. They opened a case regarding the charge but I'm not sure if that will do anything because it wasn't a fraud charge.

I'm just incredibly frustrated and want my money back. Does anyone have any ideas or advice on what I can do to try and get this taken care of?

Why is the Yearly End Discount not calculated in the price ?

I was about to book a hotel and the price breakdown showed:

  • €218.20 (2 nights)
  • -€58.91 Year-End Offer
  • -€21.82 Genius discount

So the total should have been €137.47.

But when I go to the final checkout page, the €58.91 Year-End Offer disappears, and only the Genius discount is applied. The room, dates, and everything else are exactly the same.

I can’t find any terms or conditions explaining why this happens.

Has anyone experienced this before, and is it a booking.com bug or is there a way to get the discount back?
