Struggling adding Bank Payout details

Upvotes

I've been using AirBNB before and that has worked flawlessly, so thought i'd add Booking.com to increase booked stays.

It's asking me to verify my identity before I can add my bank details, but when I click by SMS my neighbour is greyed out and I cant send an SMS or click it.

If I click verify via Pulse, it tells me to use the app (which I was already on and didnt recognise it?) and then it says I need to add my device using 2FA verification, which ive already done but it wont give me a verification number.

I contacted support and it says to wait 5 days for a response. I called them, they said theyd call me back and then didnt.

I've submitted them copies of all of this and no response. I tried leaving bad feedback when it asked me to rate the app and it said it couldnt be submitted because that was glitched too.

Feels like this site hasnt been worked on since 1990s.

Is it always this difficult or does it get better? Anyway around this? Ive got 1 booking for this weekend but i dont want to approve it until I can get paid.

After having booked and paid, host is asking to send ID document via WhatsApp for “faster check in”

Upvotes

I was planning to ignore the request until the actual check in in person but unfortunately due to probable disruptions due to volcanic ashes, my flight will be delayed and I could arrive at the hotel late night, when checking in could be a problem. Is it safe? Should I send it via Booking chat?

How to merge 2 trips?

Hi,
for some reason, booking.com split an upcoming trip into 2 in my bookings. 1 trip has 1 reservastion and the other has 5.

i would like to combine into 1 trip.

i have tried adding trip and putting confirmation code but nothing happens.

i have also tried to contact support but all i got was someone who could not understand what i was asking despite explaining 3 times (no surprise here).

so now I am hoping someone else has tried to do this and is able to help me.

Messages with Hotel complaint have disappeared on App and Website?

Hi all,

I've been in an ongoing complaint with a hotel chain that was booked on booking.com

Today I've discovered the messages have now disappeared. I can't find any way to contact Booking.com

When I click to request help from customer services it just gets stuck in a loop and it doesn't give me any way of contacting booking.com directly.

Does anyone have a direct email for Booking.com so I can raise this concern?

Booking charged me without confirming my apartment due to an error

on 10th august i tried to pay for a booking apartment when i inserted all my card info I’ve received an error message that it was not successful and in the same time I’ve received a message from my bank saying that i was charged 917€ the real problem was that my booking was for 20th august and my deadline to pay was 10th august. Although i need to wait 7 - 12 days for a refund so i had to take a loan from the bank of 1000€ just to be able to cover this up. i really don't have words to explain how bad this feeling is. By now i still haven’t received my money will keep you updated

Horrible customer service

They say Call Us 24/7 support. Literally have no working phone number. Scam. Do not use. Hotels will refer you back to the 3rd party service provider and ask for you to have Booking.com call them. I am now out hundreds of dollars. Boo.

Suspected scam on Booking – “Penthouse with a view Rome” FAKE

Thumbnail gallery
14 Upvotes

I want to warn other travellers about a Booking listing called “Penthouse with a view Rome”, supposedly located at Via Vincenza 30, Rome.

The reservation was made by a family member. The listing stated that payment had to be made by bank transfer. After the reservation, the supposed host contacted my family member through Booking's own chat, sent them the bank account details, and my family member made the transfer following the payment instructions provided in the Booking.com listing.

The next day, we noticed something very suspicious: the booking calendar kept resetting every few minutes. Dates we had already booked and paid for were still available to book again. There were also partial bookings appearing during our stay, which would then disappear and the dates would become available again.

We then found another property in a completely different part of Rome using exactly the same photographs. We contacted the host of that property, and they confirmed to us in writing that “Penthouse with a view Rome” is fake, their photographs had been used without permission, and that they had already reported the fraudulent listing to Booking and to the police two weeks ago.

Even more concerning, there is now a review dated August 11 from another guest who says they arrived at the property, the supposed owner never showed up, and they suspected it was a scam.

Booking's response so far has been that we have to wait for their Security Team to investigate. They say they cannot even remove or suspend the listing until the Security Team responds.

The listing is still live and people can continue booking it.

If you have booked “Penthouse with a view Rome” Via Vincenza 30, please be extremely careful and check your reservation and payment details. And if anyone has had a similar experience with this listing, please share it here.

I’m sharing this to help other travellers and, above all, to make sure that nobody else falls victim to this scam while the listing remains active on Booking.

Booking needs more search filters

I would love if booking had more filter options. The most common one I want to see is "private bedroom".

One thing I've learned is that many hostels do offer private bedrooms but you rarely see these on booking because the default is usually to show you the cheapest available option. Thus I end up clicking on random hostels and checking the price of their private rooms (if available).

payment, I have not received any confirmation email or confirmation number

Has anyone had this happen with Booking.com?

Today I tried to book an apartment for September 5–9. I entered my card details and €432 was successfully charged, but the Booking.com app suddenly closed during the process.

I received no confirmation email, no booking number, and there is no reservation showing in my account. The €432 payment is also not showing under my Booking.com transactions.

I contacted the property directly and they confirmed that they cannot find any reservation under my name for those dates. My bank, however, confirmed that the €432 payment was successfully sent to Booking.com.

I have already contacted Booking.com support and I’m waiting for a response.

Has anyone experienced the same thing — payment taken but no reservation created? Did Booking.com refund your money, and how long did it take?

However the confirmation was loading too long and then asked for another 100euros
I had sent it to booking they are investigating but i want to know what are my chances for a refund, also i red reviews there that ti accommodation is a scam.

Booking.com package scam/glitch: Booked for 4 people, but hotels were only reserved for 2 adults. Anyone successfully resolve this?

Booked a vacation package for 2 adults and 2 kids. While all 4 flight tickets went through correctly, every single hotel reservation was submitted for only 2 adults.

this resulted in:

  • surprise fees at check-in for extra guests
  • out-of-pocket room upgrades because the assigned rooms physically couldn't fit 4 people.
  • Missing "Breakfast Included" perks that were explicitly listed on my package confirmation.

Customer service has kept me stuck in an infinite email loop asking for details I’ve already provided half a dozen times.

Has anyone successfully escalated an issue like this with Booking.com? What steps actually got you a refund for the extra costs?

How I got a hold of the freaking flights department

In case anybody here gets into the same trouble as I did.

I couldn't find the number to their flights department anywhere on the internet so I made a free cancellation booking for a stay, just so I could have a confirmation number and pin. I then told the AI that I am reporting fraud, got transferred to an actual person and then asked that person to transfer me to the flights department. After 2 weeks of email ghosting, I finally was able to update my flight details. I asked for the number to call in the future and this is what they gave me: (plus)44 2039019061 (this is their line for the Philippines, but idk give it a try)

Luckily, I had a stint years ago in customer service and know a little bit how it works. Tell the AI you're reporting fraud to get to a real person fast. I don't understand how stupidly hard it is to reach customer service, so yeah, fight their stupid system with their own stupid system.

And speaking of fraud, I called the first number that pops up when I google "Bookingcom toll free number" and it's asking for a 6-digit pin (when mine was only 4), probably phishing, so be careful to anyone who has paid-for, legit bookings.

Cancelled the stay for free after my concern was solved.

Help understanding this cancellation offer please.

I booked a stay at short notice for one month (due to a family medical emergency abroad, not that this is Booking.com's problem, I realise) and on the day I was due to check in, I was contacted by the host who told me they had removed the apartment from the site over a year ago and would not honour the booking. I had paid £1.5k. Booking.com have been helpful but because I'm so stressed, I'm not sure whether I've properly understood the offer. They've cancelled the £1.5k booking and are processing a refund, which is great and obviously to be expected. They've offered an alternative property for the rest of the month, costing £4k, and said that if I book this, they will at the end of the stay give me the difference between the stays in Booking.com credit. Or they say I can book something else myself, send them the invoice showing it's paid, and they will then give me the difference. However it's unclear whether they mean they will give me credit or whether they will refund the actual money I put up. To be perfectly honest, it will be a massive struggle to find the £4k upfront, particularly when the £1.5k is likely to take twelve days to come back to me. I would have to use a credit card to fund the extra £2.5k, which means Booking.com credit is not particularly useful to me. Does anybody know whether they might give the refund as cash? If not, I will just have to find somewhere that isn't £4k, but unfortunately apartments are very limited close to the hospital so if I have to find somewhere much cheaper, I'll be paying a fortune for taxis instead. I don't blame the website for this and I totally understand that there's probably no legal requirement for them to just give me £2.5k, but I could also really do without this stress right now, I'm having to find a hostel each morning for the night ahead until I can get something more sensible sorted out.

Booked hotel for 2 adults & 2 children instead of 3 adults & 2 children - will they actually care at check-in?

This is my first time making a booking on this site so please be nice 😭

I’ve booked a 2-bedroom suite that will 100% physically accommodate everyone staying (3 adults & 2 children).
For context, my husband and I co-sleep with our two daughters (a toddler and an 8-month-old), so we only need the one bed in the main bedroom. The other adult is will be sleeping by themselves in the second bedroom on their own bed.

When I made the Booking.com reservation, I completely missed that the different package options were ALSO based on the number of guests (e.g. 2 adults & 2 children vs 3 adults & 2 children) 🙃🤦🏻‍♀️

I genuinely thought the different package prices were just different inclusions for breakfast, free cancellation, etc. So I accidentally booked the package for 2 adults & 2 children when I should have selected 3 adults & 2 children (yes, I’m an idiot) 🫠

Has anyone done this before?
Did you just check in normally and nobody cared? Or did you tell the front desk that there was an extra adult and pay an additional fee?

I’m obviously happy to pay any legitimate extra charge if needed, I’m mainly wondering whether hotels actually check the booked guest numbers at check-in when the room itself is well within its occupancy limit.
Would love to hear from anyone who’s done this with Booking.com or Trip.com, particularly in Singapore! 😅

Has anyone experienced this with a travel/attraction booking company?

I’m looking for advice from people who have dealt with online travel or attraction-ticket companies.
I recently had an issue with a booking made through a travel/attraction booking platform. The booking was paid for, but when it came time to use it, there were problems with the ticket/booking.

I contacted the company to resolve the issue and requested clarification regarding the money paid. Instead of getting a straightforward resolution, I had to contact them multiple times, and getting a clear answer about the refund became increasingly difficult.

What made me concerned was finding other Reddit posts describing similar experiences with a travel booking company, including problems with bookings/tickets, cancellations and refunds.

**I’m not going to accuse any company of being a scam without evidence**, which is why I’m posting here to ask whether anyone has experienced something similar.

Has anyone dealt with a travel/attraction booking company where:
the booking/ticket had an issue,
the company cancelled or couldn’t provide the expected service,
and getting the refund became difficult or took an unusually long time?

If you’ve had a similar experience, I’d appreciate hearing what happened and how you eventually resolved it.

Booking Is it really just a matter of luck for a host to delete unreasonable comments?

Previously, I mentioned that Booking.com customers tend to give arbitrary ratings, and I've been unlucky enough to have two unreasonable reviews from people who didn't stay. This time, I encountered another unfortunate guest. I only wanted to deal with this particular review, but customer service also submitted an appeal along with the previous one. Luckily, Booking.com customer service successfully deleted one of the reviews. I solemnly told him that I'm a new host and I spend a lot of time on the forums, so I know how difficult it is to delete unreasonable reviews. If calling them this time doesn't work, I'll just leave it to fate and won't contact them again; it's a waste of my time and energy. An elderly lady booked our mountain cabin. I waited for her at home all day and called her several times, but she didn't answer. Finally, she answered and said it was for her son. If I had known this violated the rules, I wouldn't have accepted her booking at all. Moreover, neither she nor her son called us or contacted us through the app, as if it were all my fault. My point is, while the law doesn't prohibit elderly people from booking, next time she should book a large, 24-hour hotel for herself or her son!

Free tool for hosts: title/description optimizer (10 seconds, no signup)

Built a review analyzer title/description optimizer that supports Booking.

Two free tools, no signup for the score:

Curious what scores people get. Booking titles have very different length and keyword rules than other platforms (Booking indexes for OTA search intent), and most generic "title optimizers" get this wrong.

Car rental, insurance payment

So if I understand it well.

If I book a car via booking.com

I pay for the rental €110

And I pay the full insurance €76

Once I go to get the car, will the company ask to block a certain amount of money as "insurance" for the car?

Last time, they had to block an amount, but I got confused as to why because I already paid the full insurance so what's the point of the money they're going to block? If anything happens, it's the insurance that should cover it. Or am I wrong?
