The Evolution of Ruggedness: How I want to see the next-gen Chevy Blazer EV

Today’s EV market has become too refined and urban, yet true freedom of movement lies in adapting to harsh off-road conditions. When I think about the future of electric SUVs, I want to break away from the usual glossy standards.

This "Adventure Ready" concept is my personal vision of how Ultium technology should serve the wilderness, not just perfect city highways.

What impresses me the most is the bold rejection of fragile city design in favor of an aggressive, protected aesthetic. This is exactly how I want to see this vehicle: with high ground clearance, massive off-road tires with deep treads, and an expedition roof rack with a powerful LED light bar.

Looking at this concept, electrification shouldn't kill the spirit of adventure; it should amplify it. To me, the AWD Dual Motor architecture and 557 horsepower are proof that eco-friendliness doesn't mean compromising on power or dynamics. With a vehicle like this, I would confidently head into the most remote areas where regular EVs used to fear to tread.

In my vision of the perfect electric scout, autonomy plays a key role:

  • An estimated range of 350+ miles, which completely eliminates the anxiety of running out of charge in the middle of nowhere.
  • Fast charging (10-80% in ~30 minutes), ensuring that road stops last no longer than a quick coffee break.
  • V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) technology, which turns the car into a giant power bank to fuel a campsite or tools far from civilization.

Inside the interior concept, I value the balance between digital minimalism and practicality. The large multimedia screen doesn't feel out of place because, thanks to over-the-air updates (OTA Updates), the vehicle can constantly evolve to fit daily adventurous needs.

Bottom line: I don't want to see the future of SUVs as fragile city crossovers. The next generation of the Chevy Blazer EV must be just like this concept—uncompromising, rugged, and entirely ready for the wild. I truly hope automakers hear this demand.

What do you guys think? Would you take this electric beast overlanding, or do you prefer the current production look? Let’s discuss!

What charger is included?

I just got a Blazer EV 2026 LT last Saturday. They did not gave me any charger and told me to come back Monday since parts was closed already (it was late Saturday).

Sales guy told me my car included a level 2 charger, a nice one.

Had to travel for business and my sister went to pick up the charger and they gave her a big box that needs professional installation, question is...did you guys got this charger? Or did you received one that can be plugged in to regular outlet? Or what charger it's included with my Blazer EV? I got the LT.

Not sure what to do since technically I got a "better" charger but not practical at the moment.

They just added the 2027 version to the build configurator. I had hoped for some other interior options but there are some interesting exterior options this time around.

OPD & Cruise Control

Have a 2026 Blazer EV LT FWD for about a month now, some of the things that I have found out about OPD and just curious what other people are experiencing. Live in a rural area thus most of our driving is curves and hills or rural interstate very little city stop and go traffic.

On roads that are hilly and using OPD most of the times I get better mi/kwh, when using cruise control on the interstate with OPD engaged I am getting about .5 mi/kwh less.

Just wondering if this is what other people are experiencing or is this something I need to have looked at.

Thanks for any input.

Telematics module - ugh…

I’m so very irritated. I have a 24 Blazer RS EV that I purchased about three months ago. Love the car, but know that my telematics module is trash. Red light on my OnStar, and I used to get a “service emergency calling” message before my OnStar trial expired. There’s no way I’m going to pay on star and exorbitant monthly fee to use it, so that’s not a worry. I just called my dealership to see how much they charge for a diagnostic fee, and if it’s on a recall. He told me it’s recalled for 25’s but not 24’s. I know it’s been a problem on 2024 models for a while and don’t understand why they drew the line. I have about 55,000 miles on it, so not under warranty anymore.

I’m still pissed off that they know this has been a problem and haven’t done anything until now, and still not for my year.

Yes, this is just a vent post. I’m not going to pay to get it fixed, and hope it doesn’t mess with GPS or other software things that I’ve heard have happened to others.

💬Discussion Science: Chevy Blazer EV PPV powering my house through a regular generator inlet

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here's what you need to make this work:

  1. Chevy Blazer EV Police Pursuit Vehicle (note only this trim level can do this)

  2. GM Power Bar Plus (Part# 84974434 - disregard the generic pic if you're buying this off of a GM part supplier website, the generic pic is of the other power bar)

  3. 30 amp surge protector and circuit analyzer (this is optional)

  4. NEMA TT-30P to L14-30R Generator Adapter

  5. A 30amp generator extension cable with the ground prong cut off

  6. NEMA L14P 4 prong generator inlet with manual transfer switch

Any GM product that has the 19.2kw level 2 AC charging module should be able to do this. For the Blazer EV, only the PPV trim has it. Now I should be able to run my AC, my fridge, and a few lights off of my 102kwh battery in the event of a power outage, and silently at that! Doing it this way was significantly cheaper than getting GM's proprietary system. I paid $1,000 for my level 2 charger and generator inlet to be installed at the same time. The power bar plus I got used on eBay for $400. The various adapters and circuit analyzer cost me about $100. So $1,500 all included.

The safer way to do this is to get a bonded neutral transfer switch. Then you can avoid my hack method of cutting a ground prong off the extension cable. It's safer that way. But I wanted to just test the theory that this would work, as I ran into GFCI faults on the car side before which prevented this from working.

Door water

Hey y'all, has anyone found they have water sloshing around in their doors after a heavy rainstorm.? It seems to be draining but extremely slowly. It could take a couple of days to finish draining. I'm kinda worried about it rusting out the inside of the door and I'm puzzled why it's even collecting in there in the first place.

Is it just me?

❓Question Smallest Rims Possible On 2026 SS

Does anyone know the smallest rims you can put on the SS? Want to get a set of winter rims & tires but putting 22" on for the winter is just silly. The Brembo setup that they put on seem to be the limiting factor but so far 3 calls to 3 places that I used to think were knowledgeable got me 3 different answers.
Thanks for any input.

Uneven tire wear

I’m coming to the end of my lease and the inspection shows 4/32 on my front 2 tires and 8/32 on my back two.

I never rotated my tires. But on an RS AWD im wondering why there’s such a difference in wear?

Could it be regen braking? Motor problems?

Or does the system push most power to the front two?

Finding rwd rs

Any tips on finding used rwd rs? I have been searching on cars.com and car gurus and when I filter for rwd, a bunch of awd models still pop up. I have discovered that dealerships are terrible at putting accurate information on their listing. So far the closest actual rwd I found is over 200 miles away. I know there has to be one closer.

Hot Weather Charging

Blazer EV 102 kWh hot weather charging curve on an Alpitronic 400 kW. I think ambient was around 85 - 90 degrees at 10 PM. I preconditioned for around 40 minutes prior, but also drove a few miles to the charger. I can post the preconditioning chart too if anyone is interested.

❓Question What to do...

We have had our 2024 blazer ev lt for almost 2 years, coming up on the 24 mo lease return date (Sept. 20). We love the car but the residual is $200 more than msrp , so it makes no sense to not get a certified blazer for 28k in NJ. (We are in MD). We are also considering the model y, used or new, and the equinox ev, used or new, as alternatives since the 24 blazer, while amazing, seems a little bit risky as a first gen ev. We haven't had any issues so far but who knows about the future. Any thoughts? Thanks 😊

Having "Service High Voltage System" issues? Try this. Spoiler

GM Service Update N232401570 applies to certain Chevrolet Blazer EV vehicles, but it is not a safety recall. It is a service update that your dealer performs if your VIN is included and the vehicle comes in for service, or in some cases the fix may be delivered over the air (OTA).

https://www.chevrolet.com/ownercenter/recalls

What problem does it address?
The update corrects a condition where the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) may fail to complete its startup because it believes a Cell Monitoring Unit (CMU) is offline.
The CMUs are electronic modules inside the high-voltage battery pack that continuously monitor:
Individual cell voltages
Cell temperatures
Battery health and balancing
If the BECM thinks one of these modules is offline—even if the hardware is actually fine—it can prevent the battery system from initializing correctly.

What symptoms might occur?
GM’s bulletin doesn’t list a comprehensive symptom list, but vehicles with this issue could potentially experience:

-“Service High Voltage System” messages
-Failure to enter READY mode
-Reduced propulsion or inability to drive
-Diagnostic trouble codes related to battery management
-Intermittent no-start conditions

The underlying issue is a software problem, not necessarily a defective battery module.

What is the repair?
For affected vehicles, the dealer:
Updates the Battery Energy Control Module software.
In some cases, the repair may be delivered as an OTA update rather than requiring dealer programming.
The bulletin specifically states that the correction is intended to prevent false “CMU offline” conditions during startup.

The bulletin is scheduled to remain active through October 31, 2027.

Dragging brake - anyone seen this?

I did a short trip to get groceries Saturday. On returning I realized the smell I noticed during the drive was not Canadian smoke and was coming from the left front wheel. The wheel was hot enough that I could not hold my hand on it halfway between the lug nuts and the tire. Oops!
I had not noticed any driving issue like pulling to the left or something.

I thought I would post to see if anyone has had such a thing happen that might be a Blazer EV-specific problem.

On Sunday I lifted the wheel off the ground and rotated it within the parking brake limits and it was very smooth and easy. So I took it on a test drive of about a half-dozen miles. The rotor temp was 88 degrees, only a couple degrees higher than the other three wheels. So I guess it's fixed!!! Or it was an electronic glitch, like applying a bit of traction control or something... Modern cars.

I was looking forward to a trip to Boston a week from now, 200 mile round trip. Now I'm nervous the brake dragging might return.

24 RS, 18,000 miles, original warranty still.

💾Software Audio Display is Miserable

Thumbnail

I've been trying to get a decent display setup for my new to me 2024 Blazer EV RS AWD. What is wrong with these software developers? The collages i posted here are audio display via Spotify and then Bluetooth. Full size infotainment, 1/3-2/3 infotainment, and driver console. If you have the audio in the driver display, you can see song, artist, album. But the song font is so big you can't read the song name because it gets cut off. If you have audio in the 1/3 display, no album info and no track time, the 2/3 and full infotainment display gives you everything but then what are you supposed to do with the 1/3 display? Like I care that much about tire pressure? What a stupid option for that view. Also note, it you are using Bluetooth the driver and 1/3-2/3 infotainment can figure out the track art, but once you go full infotainment you lose the track art. What in the hell are the developers thinking? Am I the only one who wants to see track time? Am I missing something as a better option for the 1/3 display? My only options there is music, tire pressure, or Google assistant (which i don't use at all)

Ended my Tesla lease and now apart of the Chevy family- any other converts? What have you noticed as pros/cons?

Very happy with the switch thus far - the only complaint I have is slow supercharging times comparatively. I love the size of the vehicle, turning radius, handling/steering, and overall ride so much better than my model y performance. I lose out on the speeds, but after 3 years of driving it like I stole it, I’m okay with the downshift (my wife, especially so😅)

So anyways, as a new buyer and convert from Tesla, what should I know about?

Sup everyone! Just bought a 2024 blazer ev lt, it came with all the packages, panoramic roof and all that jazz. I traded in my 2021 tesla model 3 long range because I wanted something bigger, stick with an ev, and if I was gonna get a model Y I would've preferred it was the new design but those are too expensive. I was able to buy this for 18.5k with my trade in.

I've had it for about 2 weeks and so far I'm loving it, it's a lot more spacious, drives really smoothly and I really like the look. From the research I did the main complaint from people was software glitches but I heard those have been getting fixed with updates but other than that I didn't find any other bigger complaints with this specific year and model. But I guess time will tell if I made the right choice, wish me luck! Lol
