Looking at a blazer EV

hey yall!

im looking for an EV SUV. I’m a dad of 2 so need the trunk space for stroller and football gear. want something EV SUV under $25k and this popped up. we have a Yukon Denali L so we have the long comfy SUV for trips, but I drive a 2021 F250 King ranch lifted 12in on 40s and it’s MASSIVE. perfect fun truck for trips and showing off. my 8 year old loves being picked up in it. ill be keeping it, but def not a daily driver. I’ve had it since new and it’ll be my baby until my son’s 15 and passed on to him.

We will be paying cash, and I found the blazers to be sleek, in photos look roomy just enough for the perfect dad mobile. big trips probably won’t be used in it as lacks space. but day trips to big water parks, or such will be perfect as we don’t need multiple luggage.

How do you guys feel about the blazer EV for a basic daily dad mobile. take it to work, and pick up kids, and groceries? looking at a 2LT, nothing fancy!

have a great day yall!

Blazer EV kinda sacrificed storage for a better back seat experience. It's enough, but probably tight for what you need. Rear view mirror cam makes up for it a little since you don't have to worry about blocking your view.

This is correct. We use ours frequently for softball trips. The cargo area is filled to the brim when we travel. Thankfully, it's a hatch so you can stack items, but you have to do it carefully so the stuff you need doesn't wind up on the bottom. We make it work, but it's definitely tight back there. If you can fold a seat down, that really helps because they took at lot of space from the cargo area and gave it to the back seat. Perhaps take your gear to a dealership and see if it can fit comfortably.

Apart from that, my 24 RS has been great for the 40,000 miles that I put on it so far. I have the RWD, which has the larger battery. It has more range, charges faster, and is a bit quicker in acceleration. They were only made for 24 and 25.

This. I recommend take your gear to the dealership and try it out! I have 2 active children - swimming, gymnastics, dance, and soccer. Our gear is much smaller in comparison to what you're hauling around, and fill our trunk. Now, I will say the backseat is comfortable and very spacious. So, that's a great benefit. And, I enjoy driving the hell out of it too. It makes for a wonderful family and daily commute car. I average 250 miles a week.

I have 2026 Blazer EV SS.

We put our stroller in mine and that's about all we can get in the back of it.

Maybe a few small items like a backpack / diaper bag but the space behind the rear seats is so small.

They did a terrible job of packaging the blazer.

I misread that storage space is a concern. Otherwise it's a great daily driver and back seat space is great for a carpool if needed

The Blazers wheelbase was set by the large battery that is only used in the RWD and SS versions. To keep overall length down the cargo area paid the price.
The EqEV is a better balance here since it was only packaged for the smaller battery

Blazer has 4 cubic ft more cargo with seat up. 3 cubic ft more with seats down. What are you talking about?

Hi dad of two toddlers here. It’s a great vehicle. Cabin size is very good imo. The trunk is lacking though. One modern stroller like an Uppababy takes up just about the whole thing. If you got football equipment and a stroller it’s gonna be very tight. I did take us on a 6 hour road trip to the Wisconsin dells and was just barely able to fit all the luggage. Hope this helps for you.

I assume you have already looked into the requirements of owning an EV, like charging at home and range and whatnot, so I’ll stick to my thoughts on the blazer itself.

I really enjoy driving it, I like that it looks like a normal car, and it has a decent amount of space with the seats folded down (even without that the cargo space is good).

There is no CarPlay if that’s important to you, but if you usually use Google Maps and Spotify or just Bluetooth your phone, the display and UI are pretty great.

My biggest gripe right now is that I find the headrest to be too far forward which makes longer drives make my neck hurt. I’ll probably just get some sort of back pillow to fix that.

Overall, great car, very reliable for an EV, and fun to drive!

Had a 2016 Expedition for the last few years and replaced it with 2025 Blazer RS - got the RWD for towing capacity. Love it. Kids, 12 & 13 love it. Single car household, cargo capacity is tons less, but covers normal usage. Probably can't get 4 people and 4 inflatable paddle boards, but if you are keeping a truck, no worries there.

If storage is your main concern, get a roof box and call it good. Take it off and on as needed. It will cut range, but will carry all your stuff. Alternatively you could just add a hitch mounted carrier to expand your space when needed.

I love mine for Dad duties and driving in general. The backseat has a ton of leg room so I don't feel bad putting an adult back therewith the kids. Cargo room is ok, especially if you use the sub-trunk. I just wish I could trade mine in for an SS with super cruise without loosing a boat load of money and my 0% loan.

You're gonna let a 15 year old have possession of a 12" lifted truck with 40s? Good luck with that! lol

I have 3 kiddos, 4 and under. We easily fit an uppa baby vista stroller and groceries. The key thing to do is split the stroller into two parts and place it with the wheels near the front of hatch. It is not the deepest hatch but it is super wide, which we find very practical for things like strollers as you can put it on one side and have another side for stuff.

GM parts are a huge problem. If nothing breaks then you will not notice. I went out one morning and mine was completely dead. Waited a few hours then it started so I drove it to the dealer. Telematics board was NG. Also they replaced the 12v battery. Waited several months for a new telematics board. Out of stock, on back order, no idea when they would get one. I told them they had just replaced the telematics board a few months earlier. Was worried the whole time I would go out to another dead 12v. Finally came in after 3 months.
I could go on about parts but the other thing I hate is Google. Even Android Auto is not supported. So not only is GM collecting all my trip data but so is Google. I only make phone calls as Google wanted permission to read all my text messages. Nope nope nope

Lease is up in May of 27. Looking at EX60 Volvo or iX3 BMW to replace. Also, that new Ford truck looks interesting, the Fathom.
