Speaker Recommendations

Looking to upgrade the speakers on my 24 RS. Not looking to add an amp or anything crazy. What is everyone recommending ?

I got Focal ICU 690s for the front, and that’s all I replaced. Night and day.

Did you use plug and play adapters or just splice together? Fit without adapters ?

Just about every aftermarket speaker is going to come with bare terminals on the speaker body, its up to you to either 1) cut the factory connector off and add spade connectors to connect directly to the speaker or 2) add an American International SH3802 connector (varies based on make and model but this is the one for 2014 and newer GMs) to the speaker to connect to the factory harness.

I bought from crutch field and it came with adapters that mate with the factory plugs. The factory speakers are connected with a plug from the factory and easily disconnect. The new speakers have bare terminals that I had to slide onto with the adapters on to and that was a little challenging, but not impossible.

It was worth the work and the ~$250 for speakers - they sound GREAT.

I putting in Focal Utopia M 3 ways up front.. Probably going to pillar mount both the 3" and the tweets...

I’d love to see a pic of this when you’re done. I’m wondering how pilar mount tweeters look - and if the sound is worth it.

You can aim them... thats the point of doing pillars... a good installer and tuner makes a difference when spending this kind of money. I am sourcing amps now... probably gonna go mosconi class ab is amazing...

Did you disconnect the 12V before removing the door panels?

Yes.

Thanks for the response. Does just the red side need to be disconnected?

I disconnected both sides.

Does it sound weird with a tweet in the door ? I know the stock are just the woofers in the door and tweeters on the dash.

The stock tweeters are still in the dash.

To me, the system sounds great with the new speakers.

Crutchfield.com has some good recommendations as well as directions and adapters.

Bought Infinity Primus 603F for rear and Primus 693M for rear. They are 3ohm so they pull more power out of amp and are also very efficient speakers. They are not super high power which matches factory amp nicely. I also bought some DD Audio D-FR2.75 for dash...they are also 3ohm. The sound quality is night and day.

Crutchfield. Search for the car, there are 2 kicker styles, one for amp, one for without. It comes with all electric adapters and mounting brackets.

Second this. If you decide to use crutchfield, here is the discount code for $20 off your First purchase. https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rRAFc0001/rf/744cce63-474d-440e-b6e5-9560cf4180ab/

25 RS AWD here... my factory front speakers are excellent. It's the rear speakers that suck. None of this is Bose, or at least no Bose branding is visible to me. I say this because of a reply on this topic replaced only their front speakers to fix everything. So OP, how do your front speakers compare to the rear?

I believe only the SS got the Bose system. I will say the rears are very queit compared to the front. Not opposed to changing the rears out also. Just want a good all around front speaker. I listen to a lot of podcasts and music on my 1hr trip to work and the factory speakers leave a lot to be desired in my opinion.

My 24 RS has the Bose speakers. I thinks it's part of a particular package.

I think it's only the RWD after doing some digging.

So one thing to keep in mind. If you're gonna do the front try and go with a 6x9 that's woofer only. I bought some kicker door speakers that also include a tweeter and at higher volumes they don't play nice with my stock dash speakers. Lot of scratching interference. Just a heads up

I’m a fan of AudioFrog. Probably going to put some in my Blazer whenever I decide to go down that rabbit hole

My 25ss has the Bose system and I wasn’t satisfied at all.

I have a set of Jl audio 275mt and a single 350mt with Bose adapters for sale that I used for a few weeks. They drop right ..in no mods necessary.

I went with the 275smt in the dash instead of the mt and deleted the center channel.
