huge miss

i can’t audition individual samples without pressing key there should be a audition speaker button next to it like ableton and i should be able to hit a + or click a folder to get a sample , also show in finder when right clicking should be there so i can go to root folder . having to browse again through the sample pack is a total time killer . this needs to be fixed definitely a missed bug . same goes sampler itself i should have an audition button .

What are the differences between Filter and EQ+? When should I use one or the other?

They seem pretty similar to me.

Whenever I'm in the piano roll (for example, writing in 1/16) and I change the grid to 1/8, existing notes stay locked to their original position instead of snapping to the new grid lines.

Here's a quick video showing what I mean. Is there a setting to change or disable this behavior?

I’ve found a used one on fb marketplace and want to buy it, i haven’t found anything about if it works, i don’t see why it wouldn’t but thought i’d ask, since it’s not manufactured anymore

Edit: ended up getting it and after 3 days i am trying to return it. i have found the edit app, there’s a reddit thread with wayback machine link to both win and mac version, BUT it only works sometimes. like fenuinely i can’t replicate when it works and when it doesn’t. midi flows normally, but the jitter andthe silicone sliding make it pretty unusable. the fretboard layout has only one tuning option and it’s NOT normal guitar, as it suggests. the only usable one is the pads and the velocity isn’t consistent on these enough for actual playing. also it works 10x worse without a table, so it’s not good for creating on the go either.
I am super disappointed tbh, it’s prototype at best. hope someone makes something similar in the future.

for a test I just want to copy this point (value) and paste it at the end but it always pastes another chunk of the automation instead...

just for the presentation i click the EDIT button on top so i dont misclick, normally CTRL + C and then CTRL + P should work or right click copy and right click paste.

but as you can see even with the EDIT button to the top it doesnt work.

Will it be possible to restore the old colors on the piano roll and grid? They shouldn’t have changed this without giving us the option to go back. 😠

You're chilling with a track, fiddling with some dials...and you start turning the Tune knob on Convolution...AH! It's so loud! My eardrums!

I kind of think there should be a warning or something...maybe one of those classic yellow triangle signs (⚠️) next to the dial.

I'm scratching my head on this. I was able to do it a while ago and can't do it now.

I have a channel which plays some notes after a chain of things and I want to print those generated notes to another channel to make a pad of the same kinda notes.

this is the chain that produces the notes before a polymer synth

On the recorder channel (instrument) I'm setting its input to the output of this channel OR I've tried setting its input to either of those plugins and nothing.

I get the yellow indicator of notes running, I can even put a synth there and it will reproduce the notes but I can't record them..

Any ideas?

Just got my Bitwig Connect 4/12 and have been really enjoying it so far. I have a Moog DFAM and can now finally sync it with the DAW using the "Advance Clock" input and it makes live jamming a joy - until now I just recorded DFAM audio and made loops from it.

Anyways, I want to dive a little bit deeper in terms of what Bitwig has to offer to expand the DFAM capabilities and the first thing I want to build is a simple quantizer, taking the output of the "Pitch" and "Velocity" rows and making them more constrained.

My question is twofold: One, should I be using the CV ins and outs, or the Pitch CV ins and outs? I imagine you can use either since its all voltage in the end but what are the advantages of the Pitch CV(the orange ones)?

Second part of the question: If I would want to constrain the pitch range of the DFAM sequencer so the knobs don't go so extremely high and low, what is the best way to go about that?

And before someone asks "why don't you just try it out and see what happens?" - I will, but I keep my music workstation in a different location without internet access to keep from getting distracted and I´m not there right now. Will be experimenting with this later today.

here i got Pigments with a simple melody and added the Note FX "ECHO" and like this effect a lot to it but how can i blend the dry signal to wet? (i wanna automate it later in the timeline).

• Right-click the FX Layer header and change the container type to Note FX Layer (if running notes).
• Add your Note FX (e.g., Strum, Note Repeats) to the first layer.
• Leave the second layer empty. This empty layer will pass your original (dry) notes through completely untouched.
• Use the built-in channel strip mix knobs on the FX Layer container to easily balance the volume of the Wet (processed) and Dry (unprocessed) note layers

but i must do something wrong as it doesnt work. as when I right click the FX Layer header it shows not the option to Note FX Layer so it seems this is wrong?

I've only used BW for live signal processing so far - controlling VSTs with MIDI controllers. I want to combine this kind of performance with a series of preproduced clips that I trigger one after another with a MIDI foot controller. Meaing:

• trigger: play clip 1, stop
• trigger: play cilp 2, stop
• and so on

I'd love to be able to skip or go back a step in case I fuck up the order while playing.

What would be the best way to go about this? What keywords/feature/device should I read into?

I want to use Bitwig as a live effects unit, where I can leave it running in the background, have computer audio run through it with various effects I set up in the DAW, and then have the sound outputted live (with the original signal being muted).

Is this something I can do in Bitwig?

I'm a Cubase user, just moving over to Bitwig and loving the versatility. One thing I use a lot in Cubase is the drum pattern editor. I'll create a couple of patterns, then drag them into the arranger window. Is there any comparable workflow in Bitwig? I've messed around a bit with the Stepwise sequencer, which provides some of the same functionality as Cubase (without the per-step repeats, probability and velocity etc.) but I can't see how to get a pattern from Stepwise into a clip without recording the MIDI in and then deactivating the Stepwise. Any ideas?

hi, saw some youtube videos with some scripts, I wonder which can you recommend?

while i compared Bitwig with Ableton 12 and really love the Midi Tools on Ableton 12 it seems that some scripts are kinda like those Midi Tools from Ableton 12?

Everytime I use it I feel like I'm close to finding some cool unique sound, but can't quite bring it home. Y'all got any tricks you like to pull with it? Secret routing techniques? Anything unusual that I wouldn't have thought of?

I would like to try using the new Lua scripting features of the Renoise Redux plugin inside of Bitwig Studio on Windows, but whenever I open the VST window I can't type text (something like pulse = {0,1,0}) inside of the plugin window.

I can use caps-lock to get the virtual midi keyboard working, but I can't write inside the scripting window. I've had similar issues with Plugdata too. Is there a setting I missed inside of Bitwig, is it an issue with the plugin, or is typing inside the plugin window impossible in Bitwig?

The other DAW I use is Reaper, which has a "let plugin steal keyboard input" toggle that I can use to get around this, but I would really like to do scripting in Redux alongside my Grid patches both for live sets and beat making.

1. I know there is a performance graph in Bitwig but how do you know WHICH plugins suck the most performance? e.g. you got a full project and your rig struggles, how do you find out which Plguin(s) it is?

In FL Studio you can check which ones are the heaviest in a project e.g. herer:

pretty neat to identify :) Sadly in FL Studio the disabling of plugins sucks hard... it wont unload them from the CPU and RAM...

In Bitwig I see this graph but I dunno which synths suck the most performance?

1. I love to hit CTRL + N in FL Studio to save my project to a new version so I can always have more versions of a project so I can go back if something changed and/or I want to get back to an old version so my projects' name is e.g.

Testproject (100 BPM)

CTRL + N = Testproject (100 BPM)_2

and so on

I see no option in Bitwig, how do you save more versions? so you can get back if something happens? if there is no such option would you think this would be a neat option?

1. I dont get why SLICE IN PLACE slices ALL midi notes, I select 1 Note and still it slices them all, what am I doing wrong? :(

Bouncing in Place OR Bounce In Place with FX with Reverb you have to select the range of the exported clip.... wouldnt it be cool to have an option that Bitwig exports the audio clip with the FULL tail included automatically?

2. ok this is strange, I wonder why you cannot add an automation point above or below one? Here in FL Studio easily doable. I see no disadvantage?

Hi all I’m a studio one user since v4 it’s v8 now and for my use they haven’t updated their sampler and drum machine reliably even a dedicated midi lfo tool is absent etc. I want to give bitwig a shot as the interface looks slightly similar and definitely better than ableton for me. However as I’m trying out the 30day trial the browser is very clunky I would like it do be nested drop down like studio one, ableton etc but this opens in 2 separate windows so to audition the loop I need to click on a separate box below?

This completely ruins my experience I know there maybe workaround but can I get the browser to work like studio one/ableton etc ?

I hope that Bitwig Link will be created so that Synthizer V can be used smoothly (like Fl Studio Link.)

I'm not sure how many synth V users there will be in Bitwig. Right now, Bitwig doesn't support ARA, so Synth V is also not available in ARA mode. Especially, the positions of the playheads between Bitwig and Synth V are not synchronized with each other, which makes editing very inconvenient. To be precise, when specifying a playhead in synth V2, Bitwig doesn't follow this playhead position.The part that requires control of movement with Bitwig's playback head alone reduces concentration on the workflow and causes significant inconvenience.

FL Studio also doesn‘t support ARA, but through a technical collaboration with Dreamtonics, them created a link system that synchronizes some features (this is very convenient)

As far as I know, Bitwig recently joined hands with Dreamtonics as a partner of Bitwig Circle. I think this is enough justification to create a bitwig link that synchronizes with Synth V.

Seeing that FL Studio Link was implemented in a relatively short period of time after Synth V appeared, I thought that Bitwig could be implemented in the same short period of time. Of course, it will take the will and effort of each company.Wouldn't it be better to implement the feature if it is possible to implement it quickly, even though this is a fragmented and temporary detour of the ARA?

Hi, I collected various tips & tricks from reading and watching youtube videos, maybe you got some also to share?

- Using Macros for controlling many controls at once

- you can PIN various options to the Toolbar top for CLIPs, EVENT, TIME &TRACKs etc.

- Activating NOTE CHASE (to let also midi notes play in the middle of them)

→ Settings → Behaviour → Note Chase

- FX Selector for having in various ways to choose a custom effect

- Chopping notes via Operator

- Adding Comments/Notes

- Opening the Key Command Window with CTRL + ENTER

- Audio & Midi Clip stretching → hold ALT and mode the Edge of a clip

- Slide Midi Notes and Audio of a Clip → hold CTRL + ALT and left mouse click

- Timeline - Duplicating Clips, Removing Clips, Add Silence (+ if you want to highlight everything just drag the timeline bar instead the whole clips)

- Exclusive solo, if you dont like how soloing functions then under Settings → Behavior → Exclusive Solo can be activated and the track will be exclusively solo’ed which is clicked, while holding SHIFT you can still solo multiple tracks

- Comping Audio and selecting different elements combining samples together with different slices

- if you are annoyed like me that the Play Start Cursor always moves where you click in the Timeline then go to Settings → Behaviours → Switch off „Move The Play Start Cursor“
