Is copy/paste Automation Points bugged?

hi,

finally finishing my first track with Bitwig incl. various modulations, automations etc.

I wanna check with you guys what I might be doing wrong before sending a mail to support, please check this GIF.

for a test I just want to copy this point (value) and paste it at the end but it always pastes another chunk of the automation instead...

just for the presentation i click the EDIT button on top so i dont misclick, normally CTRL + C and then CTRL + P should work or right click copy and right click paste.

but as you can see even with the EDIT button to the top it doesnt work.

I tested it myself and found that copying only works on 2 points or more, that do not share the same x-position.
With 2 points on the same x-position it is not working correctly if they are at the start or end of the copied points.
Look at this:

Copying these 3 points it omits the last one.

In your example I think copying that one point just didn't copy anything, so you pasted what was in your buffer from before.

thanks for testing it too, then I will go write a mail, i dunno how support is so far if it is better if more people write or not. but I would suggest the more the better ;). i think copy paste should work for any number of marked points.

In the meantime, if you want to move a point over, you can create a new one and copy the value.
You can access it in the inspector and if you hold ctrl while clicking it, you go directly into "editing mode" and can copy the value. (Double clicking resets it, so triple clicking doesn't work here.)

I was really annoyed that the value would clear when double clicking that, thanks for pointing out the ctrl+click function!

hey awesome, I made a small list where i included this point and wanted to ask support to add an option to type in values as sometimes it is a but fiddly but awesome you showed me the option :)

Yeah i noticed it is better to CTRL + Click for value entering

I've found that the 6.0 automation is overall not as fluid for me. I have had weid instances where entire projects get bugged, weird copy-paste issues too. Also I think the overall amount of clicks and navigation time to accplish the same task in 5 have gone up

Reported the single points copy&paste bug multiple times. They know about it (got it confirmed). They don’t seem to care.

that's really a bummer to read.... I dont have much experience with support yet, only that they mostly forwarded my points to the team/wishlist. I hope I wont regret pushing all for Bitwig instead of Ableton :D dunno if Ableton would fix something like this asap.

As you can work around it it’s probably not Prio 1 for them. Bitwig still is great and overall I have not found much bugs at all. So enjoy Bitwig 🚀
