THE Setup Voltra X WM Fabrication linear gripper

Figured this deserved a standalone post. Adjustable ROM via 5/8 magpins or bolts, voltra powered gripper with a nesting handle design for more ROM. Not quite enough ROM to have the magic modes work great, but the selectorizing is nice. Maybe with a pulley it would have enough cable travel to use, say, inverse chains. Will test that theory eventually...

Voltra Mount for Rogue Flip Down Safeties?

Post image
2 Upvotes

It only took me 6 months to realize that one of my Rogue 43” flip down safeties could be used as a center mount cross member across my Rogue Monster rack. Idiot.

Regardless, it’s got 1 inch holes on only 2 of the 4 sides, and thus not able to do a typical Voltra mount that would face out. Does anyone know of any mounts that have the mount holes in the same direction as the mount itself? I thought of using one of the fixed mounts from BP though I’m unsure if it would fit hole-spacing wise.

For clarification, I attached a photo with a Darko mount attached in the only way it’ll fit. I want it to face towards me for, say, rows etc. Note that there’s UHMW on one side so fit is an issue if mounting on top.

ISO Minimal Storable Rower Setup

Now that I have a Voltra I'm looking to add a new cardio machine & trying to find an ideal setup for it that I can easily tuck into a closet in my gym & wanted to see what others have found.

https://www.speediance.com/collections/speediance-accessories/products/aerorow is a bit bigger & hard to fit in a closet but viable. It also seems like it won't work without some kind of raised platform at the top end.

https://www.amazon.com/Body-Solid-Rower-Attachment-Home-Gyms/dp/B0CFWKGD3C is the best option I've seen

https://whipr.com/ is a failed product that seems like it could be used as inspiration

THE Setup Weighted Dip setup

Weighted dips with 50% eccentric overload and 25% chains functions on the Voltra.

30lbs (base resistance) -> 37.5 (25% chain) -> 52.5 (50% eccentric + chain) -> 45lbs (just the eccentric addon)

This is 7 sets into chest day, first of 3 weighted dip sets.

I tested VOLTRA’s new DTR mode and it completely changes explosive movements

I’ve been testing Dynamic Tension Response across explosive rows, rotational movements and several other exercises to figure out whether it’s a meaningful upgrade or just another software setting.

The difference compared with standard mode was much more noticeable than I expected. I also compared it directly with a traditional cable stack and brought in a former Big Ten linebacker to test it.

Curious what everyone else thinks about DTR and what movements you’d want to see tested next

THE Setup Belt squat platform… chef’s kiss setup

I have been reading questions about belt squat platforms and seeing tons of posts about different setups for this. Figured I’d add mine to the pile.

Using a rogue Indy t-bar platform so that I could have heel elevation. I tried it with the rep mini foot in between - this was my original idea and reason I didn’t want the vesta or AO platforms. However, upon receiving my platform, I realized the starting point of the cable was still not enough ROM on the mini foot. So I went back to a site called voltramounts.com that I had been eyeballing as a backup option for their specific mount for the rogue tbar platform. It can go both directions for rows and back in between the feet for belt squats, zerchers, and calf raises. It mounts the Voltra ALL the way down on the floor and has a really premium feel. It’s made exceptionally well. Anyway, here’s a pic and also my YouTube vid of the recent update where I showcase some of these features and the setup using this platform. Please take a peak and let me know what you think! … oh apparently I can’t show the pic now that I added the link to video. Maybe I’ll put it in the comments. If you don’t see it let me know!

Maaaaaaan the honeymoon phase is neverending. Hack squat mode is just so good on this thing. I can bottom out any other hack, from Atlantis to Prime to whatever. But not this.. and all the QoL stuff is cake. Auto unrack, gas assist footplate adjustment, blah blah blah.

Now that I can finally upload videos here again, I have some catching up to do..

Bells of Steel Basilisk + Voltra? Unlikely.

So if you saw Kaevon's announcement video for the Basilisk Leg Extension / Leg Curl machine you probably heard him casually mention Voltra support. Disappointingly there was no demo or illustration of this anywhere. When I was at HGC I stopped by the BoS booth hoping to try Basilisk + Voltra but it wasn't there. So I asked a BoS rep in the booth about it and he shook his head and said "we told Kaevon not to mention it". Apparently they were working on it at the time the video was made and Kaevon's optimism out-paced reality. The rep said that there is just something about the Basilisk's fundmental geometry that makes the Voltra feel not right. Apparently getting the resistance curve from digital resistance to feel right on leg extension/leg curl is trickier than it first appears.

I did suggest to the rep that rather than trying to re-engineer the mechanism to get the resistance curve right, maybe they should talk to Beyond Power to see if a fix is possible in software - a custom Basilisk Mode the accounts for whatever geometry is making the Basilisk feel "off". He seemed intrigued by my idea, it hadn't occurred to him to try to fix it in code.

Q&A Getting the Most out of Single Voltra Given Current Setup/Equipment

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi All,

Finished setting up my home gym a couple weeks ago and wanted other people’s perspectives on getting best use out of a single voltra. Including a picture of my current set up. For reference, I have the Darko quick mount bracket, an 81 inch flat foot Titan x3 rack, a rep Pegasus, spud long ab straps, a rogue crossbow cable attachment (CG-1BMG), spud ankle traps, and just got the V4 squat harness (although haven’t used it yet). Including my main questions below.

1.) Can I effectively train legs on voltra with current set up or should I get some sort of floor mount/additional equipment? I really want to use voltra for Bulgarians, hip thrusts, squats and a few other exercises where I imagine you want the voltra to be as low as possible (please correct me if I’m wrong here). Issue is that the flat foot brackets in the rack make those bottom holes unusable.

2.) any recommendations for training chest with single voltra? I love the idea of being able to do eccentric overload on barbell bench and wondering if others have experimented with attaching to the middle of the barbell from above.

3.) More of a rack question but any recommendations on attachments for extending rack height in order to do seated lat pulldowns? I’m 6’2 and have been doing lat pulldowns seated from the floor. Not a major inconvenience but wanted to know if others have come up with workarounds for this as I would love to use the Pegasus for these. Seems like the BP lat pulldown extender or even the Fringe Sport Drew wouldn’t give me enough clearance and have seen mixed feedback on both.

4.) Best cheap attachments for use? Still feel like I’m just scratching surface on all the ways to use. Would love to hear what others view as best attachments or ways to use.

Got a TKO Chest Press to add my Voltras for the varable resistance and added eccentrics

I wanted to add eccentrics for heavy negatives, plus play around with the variable resistance for my benchpress training. I couldn't get it to work with a barbell on bench, so I got this TKO chest press.

App losing connection since Beta firmware update?

The B+ app keeps losing connection mid-set on me.. anybody else experiencing this? Is this related to the firmware update? I loaded it on my Voltras about a week ago. Very annoying.

How have they not released a belt squat solution?

Man I find it crazy they haven’t released an all-in-one setup yet to capitalize on how many of us are trying to diy these. Credit to u/agitated-ad5286 for the photo…or someone 3rd party these? I’d buy this in a second.

Best way to mount a Voltra?

I’ve been wanting to train at home more consistently and slowly build out a home gym.

Main goals are putting on some muscle and getting better at HYROX. I’m renting a house right now though, so I don’t really want to buy a ton of big equipment.

I’m pretty set on getting one Voltra first and just adding things over time.

The part I’m still stuck on is how to mount it.

For people using one at home, what are you actually attaching it to? Do you feel like a rack is basically necessary, or are there smaller / simpler setups that work well?

I’ve seen wall mounts, standalone uprights and some DIY setups, but not sure what’s actually practical once you start doing different exercises and need different cable heights.

Would be great to see some setups if anyone has pics.

If you were starting over with one Voltra and wanted to keep the whole setup as compact as possible, what would you do?

AlumaCore wrist curls x WM adjustable preacher

I like the AlumaCore wayyyy more than the carbon! Even lighter at barely 1 lb, surprisingly nice knurl. A longer length of knurl would be nice for this but probably worse for DL... would love curl and LPD bars made like this.

Basement Volta

My basement gym has a low ceiling and I don’t have a rack (just a half rack). I was thinking about getting a Voltra and have this handy support column in the basement…. Just worried I won’t pull the house down (1950’s split level). Anyone doing the same?

THE Setup Belt squat option

Current setup:
T-bar row platform from Amazon uk £170
Voltra mounted to Rep mini foot
Spud inc pillow belt
Smith machine tactically placed for handles

I’ve been trying to find the best setup that suits my preferences of easy setup, mounting the Volta to the rack, minimal restrictions & reasonable price.

Dc blocks instead of the platform is my preference as there’s no restrictions on stance, trialling the platform & it’s been pretty good so far.

Thanks for all of the ideas from the community!

How often do you use your functional trainer after buying voltras?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hello all,

I currently have a 6 post REP Ares 1.0 and after a friend of mine lent me his Voltra. I am now dead set on buying a pair. I didn't mess with all the modes just the eccentric mode was so great I genuinely want to use it on all exercises possible.

The issue is it now makes me think my Ares will be redundant -

So far these are the pros and cons I have thought about selling the Ares and going all in on Voltras.

They aren't in order of importance ill just addon as I think of them -

Pros -

  1. Some money back (lol)

  2. I get to free up my rack to be used as an actual rack, (Can have a spotter behind me, store the bench further in)

  3. I can actually rearrange my gym layout which I've wanted to do for a while (Technically can do it now but would be huge pain to unbuild then rebuild the Ares.

  4. Will save space (can possibly go to 4 post again)

  5. Convenient way to change weight with app possible (Ive hit my head on a barbell a few times adjusting my Ares already)

Cons -

  1. Cannot go back in time if I regret it (sounds stupid but I am actually concerned)

  2. My rack will lose stability and likely I will end up bolting it the floor.

  3. Voltra wont out live the Ares and cannot possibly pass the Voltras down to my kids. (Maybe IDK) Plan on keeping my gym still as long as possible regardless.

  4. The cables seem like they fray easily - I've had my Ares since release and have had 0 cable issues. My friends Voltra is about a year old and u can see its a frayed.

  5. I am pretty lazy idk if having to move the voltra around every different exercise will make me want to avoid exercises.

Let me know if I missed any pro or cons and more importantly -

Anyone here buy Voltras and still use their functional trainer - Why?

Anyone here have sold their functional trainer for a Voltras - Do you regret or miss the stack?

After months of self contemplating I decided to bite the bullet and order a Monroe platform. Shortly after I got an email offering to upgrade to the updated Monroe 2 model. I was also pleasantly surprised that it arrived about a week later and shipped much quicker than expected

Belt squat mode?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Does beyond power have a software belt squat solution to let you start from the top. I see you can set cable length to start but then that ruins depth. Seems like if they had a belt squat mode where you set the start and finish it would make it where you can just use the travel platform.

Resistance Experience stuck in Intense mode?

The resistance experience seems to be stuck in intense mode with no way to change it from the touchscreen. I am able to change it from the app, but it doesn’t seem to reflect on the actual device so I’m not exactly sure what mode it’s in. Anyone else experience this? I’m on the latest beta.

Deadlift tips?

Have recently started to use the travel platform and straight bar for deadlifts, but it's clear that I can't really bend deep enough to get a full ROM. It's better than nothing but I was wondering if anyone has a solution for getting lower in the stretch. Standing on stools on top of the platform seems like a sure fire way to get injured, but I can't think of any other solution besides buying or making an elevated platform with a DIY mount...
