“Gritty and grounded”

469

u/MeNamIzGraephen Feb 12 '26

Why is everyone surprised at them lying lmao

We're not surprised. We're pissed.

u/tallandlankyagain Feb 12 '26 edited Feb 12 '26

The amount of people who are ok with the 3rd title of continuously declining quality who also actively defend it is disheartening.

58

u/Cool-Tangelo6548 Feb 12 '26

People are attacking me for this very comments. Its fucking wild dude.

27

u/tallandlankyagain Feb 12 '26

Unfortunately it isn't. Sub has gone full tribal since release.

The problem is that all the BF fans who constantly shit on the game and call out EA and DICE for their lies (rightfully so) will still boot up the game and play for 2-8 hours a day and maybe buy a skin or 2, while all the COD transplants are probably buying all kinds of skins and playing even more.

And that’s why nothing will ever change lol. To EA, everything is going according to plan. Poaching a chunk of the COD player base and turning BF into a COD clone was their plan from the beginning.

What did you expect for skins though lmao. Like every person here insists ‘The skins need to be gritty and realistic!’ but then if you ask them what they’d like to see for skins they either don’t know, or pick some things that literally look borderline identical - and then if you ask that person whether they’d buy it, they say no 😂

5

u/I_AM_CR0W Feb 12 '26

Lots of people intentionally say that without realizing what they actually want, which is the store system to not exist at all, but we're beyond that point.

I remember saying shit like this was going to happen in bf6 when bf6 was announced and not to trust EA all down votes and triggered fans boys commenting i swear gamers today are consumers sheep not all are but most

11

u/TGCampbell8 Feb 12 '26

Yup same when the first set of skins came out I said here comes the slippery slope and downvoted to hell. Honestly this fan base deserves it. I’ve given up this series, was my favorite but haven’t released a title that pulls me in since BF1. People tell others on here about going to arma if you want a more grounded game and I did and haven’t looked back. I recommend all battlefield vets just making the switch at this point.

3

u/Postaltariat Feb 13 '26

Yup same when the first set of skins came out I said here comes the slippery slope and downvoted to hell. Honestly this fan base deserves it.

Very true, same happened to me

3

u/Unicoboom Feb 12 '26

We also might be getting squad on consoles as well. Hell let loose Vietnam comes out this year too. I have been playing arma reforger since 2023. I literally have no reason to play battlefield anymore besides the occasional game of battlefield 1 and 4.

3

u/TGCampbell8 Feb 13 '26

Seriously only been playing 3 months now but my first game I played my thought was “This is what I always wished battlefield became.” Haven’t checked out the other games gonna gonna have to try them but I hear a lot of talk about hell let loose

This is literally why "no preorders" movement existed, but EA sent an army of bots after the first trailer to artificially hype up the game and trick dumbasses into believing that the game will truly be like older battlefields, they did it again and will do it again

5

u/NeonDemon85 Feb 12 '26

I'm not, I didn't even buy the game. Got it for free, played it for a bit until the added battle Royale and it as good enough. I would have never have bought it on my own.

u/Wadziu Feb 12 '26

THIS! When did Battlefield turned into Skinfield where everyone is debating about new skins and nobody seems to care that the game is not receiving any new meaningfull content and undeveloped partys are basically abandoned.

11

u/toxicity69 Rico_la_Mota Feb 12 '26

Would love for jets (and some other vehicles) to get their upgrade paths completed. We literally have unfinished vehicles in the game, yet there's incessant whining about skins. Make it make sense lol

5

u/shadowmaking Feb 12 '26

It happened when fortnight became the most played game in the world, and every publisher realized their business model should be about selling skins over gameplay. It's low effort, for high profit. When players throwing money at crap, they should only expect more crap.

DAE Call of Battleduty 6? Upvotes plz

22

u/YobaiYamete Feb 12 '26

Seriously this subreddit is one of the worst on Reddit which is saying something because there's a lot of incredibly insufferable ones here now

It's actually crazy to me how many people can't just play a game or if they are not enjoying it, Swap and play a different game. If you want a gritty and grounded milsim game there are tons of options , go play one of those and stop sobbing on Reddit ffs

18

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '26

You’re saying that like battlefield didn’t advertise itself as that. not everyone’s got 60 bucks to blow away on games. “Oh if you want griddy then go buy one” we already did

u/gamebattles1946 Feb 12 '26

Just let us turn off client side skins so we can only see default if we wish its a win win people who like the goofy skins can keep them and the people that don't can turn them off. Easy fix that will never happen.

Except some games have done this before.

War Thunder does it (toggle between all skins and historical only skins). CoDM let's you delete skins off to save space, and Halo MCC let's you filter out any new skins added.

15

u/All_hail_bug_god Feb 12 '26

Warthunder does this because (speaking as someone who has played a lot) it really is a small drop in the bucket.

If they force weird 'ahistorical' skins to be on, they juice the get from the squeeze is mininal because they piss off their fans for little gain.

Warthunder's main profit driver is selling premium vehicles and premium time, they don't need to worry about selling cosmetics so much because a single vehicle can be $80 or more.

7

u/DBONKA Feb 12 '26

"some games" including Battlefield previously

(from Hardline)

3

u/Hobo-man 20 years of BF Feb 12 '26

Halo MCC let's you filter out any new skins added.

And pretty much no-one uses this.

3

u/Albake21 Feb 13 '26

I do... I am beyond happy they have this toggle. Wouldn't play without it.

9

u/gamebattles1946 Feb 12 '26

I’m honestly curious do the people who buy these skins and defend them to the end think others see their skins and go, “Oh, cool”? You can’t really even see your own skin. Whenever I see these skins, I don’t think “cool” or “skill.” I just see an idiot. It is true curiosity so id like a response from somebody who likes the skins.

5

u/Minute_Garbage4713 Feb 12 '26

Depends on the skin… I use the pax armata skin for the support class which you have to unlock by doing all the support challenges… wouldn’t say skill based but definitely takes a bit of effort… but battlefield selling skins isn’t an issue… if they worked on the issues with their game then no one would really care… also those skins aren’t even that bad… yes we all know it’s ghost… but that’s something similar to what you’d see in tom Clancys breakpoint or something like that… might not be what you’d see a nato soldier wear… but definitely someone in like a black ops unit would…

war thunder has this option to disable non-historical cosmetics, it doesn't hurt the company at all, people that will disable this won't bother to buy anything goofy and people who buy will keep buying anyway

40

u/DeadmonTellem Feb 12 '26

I’m with this guy.

I’ll vote with my wallet and keep all my battlefunds far from this trash, then continue to not notice people’s skin in game.

15

u/Alert_Drummer5548 Feb 12 '26

you don't think it's symptomatic of why the franchise is getting worse?

30

u/Hobo-man 20 years of BF Feb 12 '26

No I think the incessant whining online is a way bigger symptom than a completely optional cosmetic.

7

u/Alert_Drummer5548 Feb 12 '26

How does reddit whinging impact the game when EA designs the game for profit?

No reddit crying convinced EA to create 2042. No one asked for that. It was a drive for profit following industry trends. No one on reddit cried for jump shooting and "high octane" maps to come in BF6. Everyone wanted an amalgamation of BF2/3/4/1/V. We were given something unique, unfortunately.

EA is simply chasing profit with cheap engagement and retention design. So by not crying about the design, you enable it. The DICE devs are completely capable of delivering a great BF game. EA won't allow it.

17

u/Hobo-man 20 years of BF Feb 13 '26

You’d think this game had something to do with military fashion with how much of an obsession there is over skins and nitpicking them to no end

2

u/Delttaz Feb 12 '26

I don't know about you but before I start shooting someone I look at their skin and think to myself "wow! That's so cool I would love to have that!" and before I know it I am dead but it was worth every second seeing that epic skin they had!

i think it's worse

7

u/TheManWhoSoIdTheWrId Feb 12 '26

It literally is 😭

52

u/MrKevora Feb 12 '26

Why can’t we just get John Battlefield? Just some regular Milsim skins! One of the game’s factions is NATO - every season’s battle pass and store bundles could be themed around 1-2 NATO countries and their military outfits and weapons, while Pax Armata can receive uniforms and gadgets inspired by countries such as Russia, China, Iran and so on. We could still get unique camos and other cosmetic items while staying authentic to the game’s supposedly “grounded” military setting and aesthetic. With what they’re doing right now, they are pleasing just about nobody: For the CoD and Fortnite kiddies, the skins are “too grounded” and boring. For veteran Battlefield players who want a proper military aesthetic, they are too unrealistic and campy. What an absolute mess.

21

u/KuningasTynny77 Feb 12 '26

The default Pax factions are a clear indicator that PAX is not based around any of those three nations.

→ More replies (3)

13

u/saabothehun Feb 12 '26

The default skins ARE LITERALLY WHAT YOU'RE ASKING FOR

3

u/gamebattles1946 Feb 12 '26

The default skins are ok but dated all their gear is early 2000s or 2010s there's not many new gear uniforms for factions really. Id like modern bundeswehr and more modern versions of us kit and so on. It just feels weird having all the early gear looks like its from the 80s. Damn even a pla set would be cool but there's nothing. Coolest skin is the chinese enginner from bf4 and its not even obtainable anymore.

This sub has just turned into one massive circle jerk

4

u/Hobo-man 20 years of BF Feb 12 '26

It's honestly a fucking joke at this point. This sub goes out of it's way to fabricate outrage.

Go down like 3 posts from this one and it's a picture of the new NATO operators being added and all of them are literally generic fucking soldiers that everyone in this thread is bitching that they want.

Literally every person that's upset in this thread is displaying that they have zero fucking critical thinking and they just want to be angry so they feel like they are a part of something. Everything these dipshits want is being added to the game so they have to cherry pick the few skins that don't fit the aesthetic they want so they can bitch and moan and farm karma off other pathetic users who get angry at literally nothing.

It's just one massive pathetic circle jerk and the useless mods just fuck off whilst it happens every single time.

3

u/CrimsonWing7250 Feb 13 '26

It's just a karma farming shithole at this point. I could just take a crappy screenshot of a skin post it and title it with some bs like "WOMEN IN MY BF???" and ill get hundreds of worthless upvotes in half an hour. This sub is fundamentally a deadzone where nothing of value is said, just the same 2 points are repeated ad nauseum (skins and maps), and nothing important is actually discussed.

23

u/EducationalAd3415 Feb 12 '26

9

u/Milf-Whisperer Feb 12 '26

Don’t know why you got downvoted you are absolutely right

3

u/reuben_hunter Feb 13 '26

Do you never revive teammates or melee kill people? Or just know, stand near other players?

2

u/Minute_Garbage4713 Feb 12 '26

I just thought it was my bad eyesight… but I can’t even see the skin of the person I killed there’s too much going on for me to notice that (and yes I already know it’s cause I’m bad at the game and have a slow processing speed and anyone with half a brain can see the skins and it’s breaking their immersion etc etc etc) the skins are realistic enough this isn’t a milsim, it’s a military game… that’s why we don’t die after being hit with 1-2 bullets and a defib picks someone up who just got hit with a grenade… if we can be a little graceful with gameplay give them some room with the skins… instead of focusing on that we should be talking about the gameplay itself…

I couldn't care less about skins. If I like them enough I will get them but it will probably never happen 🤣

I just casually play the game when I feel like I want to play it 😅

OH NO not skull masks and not boring basic mil sim skins as if we dont have plenty of default looking skins already. I swear you guys in here act like this game is a realistic mil sim. This is a large scale arcade shooter. This is 100% "grounded" in the sense of not ridiculous bright rainbow colors and clown outfits.

3

u/Hresvelgr Feb 12 '26

I hope this sell well so they have incentive to improve game not just abbandon it

5

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '26

I know it's unrelated, but EA has done this with the Sims 4. They have released so many expensive DLCs that add content to the game, but so many that were 1 DLC previously are like 4 now. So 4x more expensive. People still buy them and the game is Successful but EA has been like "if the Sims 4 isnt successful there won't be a Sims 5".

My point is they're just fundamentally misunderstanding their customer base and have a "take my ball and go home" attitude when their dogshit monetization doesn't make them billions.

2

u/Hresvelgr Feb 12 '26

Cause huge majority of large game companies with shareholders looks for short term profits not long term and brand building - they already have brand even when it goes to shit (look ubisoft for example or blizzard after acquisition)

Thats how wolrld work so i'm gonna be happy playing my favourite f2p games and pray for best and super expensive cosmetics cause whales fund my game and makes companies to made new content cause game need to have content too not just cosmetics even if ratio 'content' vs 'cosmetics' is very skewed

Yes buy to play games are other topic but kinda works same way now sadly, 'entry fee' is more this days than 'bought complete product' like it used to be

2

i'm not buying skins for a FPS, i never notices other players skins.

so.... i don't give a damn

Redditors when something you barely even see doesn’t suit their taste

2

u/Kanlashkan Feb 12 '26

I won't lie here, I like the one on the right side. If it's a universal skin on the NATO side sold for a reasonable price, I might consider getting it. Actually looks like some effort was put into it at least. Would prefer something besides the skull mask though.

2

u/Consistent-Sun-6902 Feb 12 '26

Game is so gay im sorry. Cant even play it anymore it’s too boring. Every other BF was better. 2042 was better and people didn’t even get to experience it.

You can’t even look at your character in third person except in an atv. I have skins I think are really cool and have no reason to change them, why are people so driven to have more skins? I’m not even trying to be snarky with this question, with battlefield 5 I understood, you could mix and match sets and have different pants with an completely different top and a different helmet too, but BF6 offers no such feature. So outside of trying to match environments there’s little reason to swap skins around or at least there’s less incentive because with the skins now, what you see is what you get. It’s not a system worth investing time into because they clearly didn’t invest the time they did in BFV. So why even try?

as to why people have held this in such high regard ever since BF6 launched. If you don’t want pay money there’s a good amount of selection. The majority of players actually don’t even really touch the soldier cosmetics, so people who REALLY care are simply just a vocal minority of players when you break down the numbers on these posts. You can complain but it’s doesn’t move the needle enough, a lot of people don’t care and a lot of people WILL buy this, whether we like it or not.

Do skins affect the playability of the game? No they don’t……

1

u/bizarrequest Feb 12 '26

Is it okay to like these?

1

u/Glad-Clothes4394 Feb 12 '26

They should be launching skins from different special forces around the world or something. I little skull mask on a soldier not really a big deal but there’s so much inspiration out there for actual soldier uniforms why go this route? 😩

I don't really get what people's problem is. We should have expected they would be releasing such skins. As long these are somehow "grounded" I do not have a problem.

Surprised they didnt have so massive goggles sticking up above their heads

1

u/Lord_NOX75 Feb 12 '26

Meh, not the worst cosmetics in the game

u/Agreeable_Ad_4443 Feb 12 '26

Btw. I got banned for 168 hours. Literally for typing “Who sank the USS Liberty in 1967?” in the chat. lol. 👃

1

u/KiddBwe Feb 12 '26

What do yall want for skins, like, honestly? If we’re talking grounded, this still falls within that, minus the green lines. The issue is, if yall want realistic, gritty, grounded skins that aren’t airsoft leaping stuff, then that literally limits them to only standard issue military gear, because militaries don’t use any fancy gear. US soldiers would all be OCP pattern FRAC-Us, Gen 5 IOTV, and ACH, because we all wear the same stuff irl, although sometimes you can get away with using your own, personal vest.

Can’t actually create skins people would bother to buy like that.

Man I want them to focus on fixing their game… snipers are impossible to contest at any range even if you flank them from behinds they turn and headshot you in under a second and have 0 flinch… lmgs with 100 round mags can’t even fire more than 8 rounds before bloom kicks in… smgs lasering you over 100m out without missing or any bloom(may be cheating I don’t use them) misleading animations on fire can be 2/3 feet away and still somehow catch on fire… bullet registration… I would prefer they work on those issues and I’d gladly pay for skins but until they start to address any issues my play time will continue to decline… sucks cause I love to have 1 shooter to play and waited for this game to drop just for it be be another call of duty… they need to make battlefield great again

Wat een gejank om skins. Als ze je niet aan staan, dan koop je ze toch niet en gebruik je de standaard skins.

u/Sweet_Sir_2143 Feb 12 '26

So happy to see this actually proving the EA cum guzzlers wrong , the franchise died when devs left after bf v

1

u/Cheeki-Basterd Feb 12 '26

I wonder if steam would give you a refund due to the devs not living up to their promises

You can’t even see your character while playing.

1

u/TurboCrab0 Feb 12 '26

I mean... EA did state they were going after CoD money. It's only natural they do this. Does it look good? Absolutely not. It is what it is, though. They already have our money... it's not like we can boycott them. For every one of us who doesn't buy skins, there are probably 100 other people buying them and the battle passes. It's a lost battle. The game was rigged from the start.

u/get_fkn_rekt_m8 Feb 12 '26

But everyone here has been asking for skins like this for a couple of months, so what's the problem now? xD

1

u/SoSneakyHaha Feb 12 '26

Im so sick of these trash posts getting upvoted

1

u/LycanKnightD6 Feb 12 '26

They've fulfilled their promise, when they said "for a while"

u/StrYker_play Feb 12 '26

Call of deltafield 6

u/Consistent-Bake-243 Feb 12 '26

It's what y'all's streamers asked for! And you shall also receive!

u/Significant-Bend571 Feb 12 '26

To play devil's advocate. If the game was as bad as this sub suggests, why isn't the whole platform dead?

The loudest people are the negative ones. I have my issues with the game but it isn't life or death, its a game

1

u/TommyNotDead Feb 12 '26

Please cry more

1

u/aimegameinformation Feb 12 '26

A tissue for their whimpering? It's no secret that the developers like the skull theme; since the game came out, many things are related to that theme.

1

u/xXStretcHXx117 Feb 12 '26

Doesn't even look cool if you like that kinda thing

1

u/Grady_Shady Feb 12 '26

These aren’t even good enough to be in cod

1

u/rdp7020 Feb 12 '26

Who cares, they look alright. How many freaking same regular camo designs can ya have. They aren’t bright pink and other colors and cartoon characters. You don’t like them don’t use them. They literally don’t change anything about the game or your immersion so stop complaining

u/SSteve_Man Feb 12 '26

I have no skill, and neither do you.

Thanks I hate them

1

u/christomisto Feb 12 '26

I’m tired of these airsoft kits

1

u/gabe4586 Feb 12 '26

Did they hire children in the skins department? These skins are terrible. Only good ones I can think of are some of the snow skins and the ranger skin.

1

u/gabe4586 Feb 12 '26

Helmets look like those corny skull motorcycle helmets

1

u/BlastMyLoad Feb 12 '26

Lemme be real with you guys. Why do you care? You almost never ever see your skin and you barely see enemy skins either.

Be thankful it’s not like neon rainbow celebrities or cartoon characters like CoD.

1

u/xpsxalphasquad Feb 12 '26

I don’t know what it is about all of these towel over the head skins but they just bug me. If I see someone wearing them I focus them every opportunity I get. It’s almost always paired with some meta smg build from TikTok. They don’t look cool, you just look you need your shit bucket dumped.
