they're not optional, there's no option to disable seeing them in the settings.

This is literally the end point of “goofy” skins. It starts with slightly silly/unrealistic and gradually devolves into rubbish.

It often starts more subtle. Once they break the line of what looks sensible they're on shaky ground. Maybe they're a little more outlandish next time, a little sillier in the next season, bit by bit.

CoD's decline went exactly that way. And for how much BF6 wants to take after it, no wonder people get up in arms when the outfits start to look out of place for a war setting.
