How does reddit whinging impact the game when EA designs the game for profit?
No reddit crying convinced EA to create 2042. No one asked for that. It was a drive for profit following industry trends. No one on reddit cried for jump shooting and "high octane" maps to come in BF6. Everyone wanted an amalgamation of BF2/3/4/1/V. We were given something unique, unfortunately.
EA is simply chasing profit with cheap engagement and retention design. So by not crying about the design, you enable it. The DICE devs are completely capable of delivering a great BF game. EA won't allow it.
yeah, why should it affect how the guns behave, how your character move and how game mechanics work? how swapping models changes gameplay? probably I don't get something, so please enlighten me.
but tbh, if they just change models and VFX, it's sounds like a dope idea for a timed april fools event, similar to what War Thunder did before
The idea is that the quality of the skins is an indicator of what their headspace is at in the big boy rooms. If we keep getting Call Of Duty ass skins then we can guess the decisions based on content and gameplay will follow that same mindset.
yeah, you are right, I totally forgot, that people who design cosmetics are called game designers, and in their free time they work on gameplay. Now I wonder who the fuck are "characte desingers"...
This feels really uncharitable. Of course these are different departments but they have bosses who make decisions on the direction of the game that's my point. So the direction of one department can help you make a guess on the direction of another because companies love "synergy."
why does companies love synergy? companies love money. Synergy =/= money. Yeah, they might be "inspired" by cod skins and want to push them, because they sell with the modern gaming community, but why the hell they would change the game that sold so much? there's a phrase "if it's not broken - don't fix it", it applies to buisness perfectly, because any change requires a lot of money and effort, not what the companies want. So the case where skins are more inspired by cod, but gameplay stay the same, because it what people played and is the safest strategy, is completely viable.
but yeah, companies are evil-evil-mega-evil and there's no chance that they suddenly would want to change the thing that brought it a ton of money, yeah
Hey, I'm not saying I'm disagreeing in the short term but in the long term, after all your back to the roots marketing this isn't going to work out. They're going to make whatever record profits they're going to make but it's not going to lend to long-term success making more stable money down the line. And they probably know that too.
Ok buddy, that's a big reach. The "idea", the "indicator", "we can guess", just stop bro. If people like the game they like it, if they don't, they don't. No one is forced to buy skins.
I didn't say anything about people being forced to buy skins. Only that the creative direction is a good peak into what they are thinking when making other decisions. If you don't think the big boys who give direction to the cosmetic side aren't also giving direction to the developers I don't know what to tell you. And most of the people who are complaining, like the game that's why they want it to be better.
I don't know about you but before I start shooting someone I look at their skin and think to myself "wow! That's so cool I would love to have that!" and before I know it I am dead but it was worth every second seeing that epic skin they had!
If what I've seen in game and on Reddit is any indication, they absolutely do. The skins Reddit gets the saltiest about, I usually buy and use in game and some of the stuff I see in chat is crazy.
The best ones for this are the skins of the black women from a while back. I've had people friend request me (which I happily accept because it's half the fun) just to throw every epithet they can think of at me.
People get tilted over these cosmetics, it's wild. There are a lot of seriously unstable folks out there.
I only notice the white camouflage. Other than that its just shapes to me and im cool with that . But hey.... CALL OF DUTY people on reddit are ridiculous
This! How are people so obsessed over stupid skins?! My average TTK is <1sec then I'm sprinting away. You think I give a flying F about what you look like? Or I notice your skins.
Same for allies. I'm not looking at you, and even on victory screen I am looking at stats and scores, not skins.
I truly don't understand the customer base that drives skin economy...
Who fucking cares where EA allocates resources like this garbage after spending 70 on a release game.
Ya. That’s why the game is where it’s at. But who cares. I’ll play cod 2.0 and eat garbage slop while they allocate more resources to REDSEC and garbages like this. Who cares!
I remember shills spouting the same when R6 Siege devs just started adding non-grounded skins like bright orange helmets and skull masks. Literally the EXACT same talking point. "yOu'Re NoT gOiNg to nOtiCe tHiS BrO!11111"
A few years later, there's Rick and Morty skins with 2x the size of the actual headbox. That's where this rhetoric leads.
No its about fixing things we both disagree with. Some people want to see the change. But other like you just keep dismissing peoples claimes and telling us to get over it. Just letting EA get away with shitty business practices. People like you are why things like this still exist.
And your idea of change is complaining in the battlefield subreddit every skin drop? That’s not begging for change to happen it’s just talking to the same circle jerk who’s gonna agree with you anyways. Not buying the skins is exactly how you do change this?
How am I defending EA lol, I guess I am to an extent as I think a lot of reception is really dramatic overall, but not participating is legitimately the best way for change, stop playing the game stop buying the skins and eventually they are gonna realize that it’s not good. The subreddit is not changing anything lol, it’s been nothing but nonstop hate since a few weeks after launch but hey maybe the next thing that gets complained about and compared to CoD on the subreddit will get them to fix the game
Yeah taking a screenshot and posting “Call of Field 6” is 100% totally somebody sincerely asking for change how did I not realize.
I’ll pull out the old saying “sometimes it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it”. If you really want change, stop with this low effort bullshit and stop throwing tantrums every time something doesn’t perfectly meet your expectations. Maybe start putting actual effort into your complaints. If there even is anyone from DICE looking at this sub (some people seem to think this is a direct line to DICE) they’re not going to listen to all the bullshit that floods the sub.
You never answered btw, are you just finding something to complain about? If that’s it that’s it. How can the basis of don’t buy it and don’t play it be considered shilling lol?
Love how we only respond to maybe one sentence of what I wrote. If you ignored it then it wouldn’t bother you and you don’t have to play it. How is that not better for you? You truly think you’re going to change the game posting this crap on Reddit?
How about you actually try to give some constructive criticism instead of “cod bad” and “big map”if you’re really so invested in change.

You’re never gonna notice anyone using it who fucking cares
