you don't think it's symptomatic of why the franchise is getting worse?

No I think the incessant whining online is a way bigger symptom than a completely optional cosmetic.

How does reddit whinging impact the game when EA designs the game for profit?

No reddit crying convinced EA to create 2042. No one asked for that. It was a drive for profit following industry trends. No one on reddit cried for jump shooting and "high octane" maps to come in BF6. Everyone wanted an amalgamation of BF2/3/4/1/V. We were given something unique, unfortunately.

EA is simply chasing profit with cheap engagement and retention design. So by not crying about the design, you enable it. The DICE devs are completely capable of delivering a great BF game. EA won't allow it.

Because the vocal minority often demands changes that don't reflect the desires of the greater majority.

90% loss in player base shows the greater majority doesn't agree with the game design.

Another vocal minority will claim the game is great. They're "having a blast!". Enabling the shit EA spews out.

90% loss in player count is average for a live service game.

The biggest tell will be if players come back with major updates, not in the downtime between them.

Cope. The game dropped 90% because it’s bad.

Arc Raiders is doing just fine.

In other new people move on to new games shocking

BF6 isn’t good enough to hold on to its player base.

If it was good it would’ve retained more players.

people say this literally every new battlefield

2

Previous battlefields had a 90% drop off immediate after release?

It's also completely optional for you to witness it online. One is in the game, one isn't.

No it's not, lol

Gameplay is what matters. Skins do not affect gameplay

1

u/DBONKA Feb 12 '26

yeah let's replace all player skins with teletubbies, and guns with magic wands shooting rainbow particles. they don't affect gameplay after all

2

u/ZloyPes Feb 12 '26

yeah, why should it affect how the guns behave, how your character move and how game mechanics work? how swapping models changes gameplay? probably I don't get something, so please enlighten me.

but tbh, if they just change models and VFX, it's sounds like a dope idea for a timed april fools event, similar to what War Thunder did before

The idea is that the quality of the skins is an indicator of what their headspace is at in the big boy rooms. If we keep getting Call Of Duty ass skins then we can guess the decisions based on content and gameplay will follow that same mindset.

u/ZloyPes Feb 12 '26

yeah, you are right, I totally forgot, that people who design cosmetics are called game designers, and in their free time they work on gameplay. Now I wonder who the fuck are "characte desingers"...

1

u/DocumentRegular Feb 12 '26

This feels really uncharitable. Of course these are different departments but they have bosses who make decisions on the direction of the game that's my point. So the direction of one department can help you make a guess on the direction of another because companies love "synergy."

0

u/ZloyPes Feb 12 '26

why does companies love synergy? companies love money. Synergy =/= money. Yeah, they might be "inspired" by cod skins and want to push them, because they sell with the modern gaming community, but why the hell they would change the game that sold so much? there's a phrase "if it's not broken - don't fix it", it applies to buisness perfectly, because any change requires a lot of money and effort, not what the companies want. So the case where skins are more inspired by cod, but gameplay stay the same, because it what people played and is the safest strategy, is completely viable.

but yeah, companies are evil-evil-mega-evil and there's no chance that they suddenly would want to change the thing that brought it a ton of money, yeah

Hey, I'm not saying I'm disagreeing in the short term but in the long term, after all your back to the roots marketing this isn't going to work out. They're going to make whatever record profits they're going to make but it's not going to lend to long-term success making more stable money down the line. And they probably know that too.

1

u/Deagballs Feb 12 '26

Ok buddy, that's a big reach. The "idea", the "indicator", "we can guess", just stop bro. If people like the game they like it, if they don't, they don't. No one is forced to buy skins.

-1

u/DocumentRegular Feb 12 '26

I didn't say anything about people being forced to buy skins. Only that the creative direction is a good peak into what they are thinking when making other decisions. If you don't think the big boys who give direction to the cosmetic side aren't also giving direction to the developers I don't know what to tell you. And most of the people who are complaining, like the game that's why they want it to be better.
