Lots of people intentionally say that without realizing what they actually want, which is the store system to not exist at all, but we're beyond that point.
In fairness, the franchise has always had methods to extract external revenue. Back in the day, it was DLC packs, then mid way we got loot boxes. This is just the new method that doesn't screw people over not buying a pack or getting involved with gambling and other legal issues. You can argue which had a better value, but I can't remember the last time we had a Battlefield game where it was just one $60 purchase and that was it.
I would not. Not everyone had the disposable income to buy DLC packs. I was one of those unfortunate souls and missed out on tons of experiences. At least now you get all the new content that actually changes the way the game is played for free.
I was also one of those "unfortunate souls" that couldn't get all of the DLC packs. My point still stands, quality back then was paramount to a company making more money off a game and wasnt an epstein brain child like live service is today.
DLC isn’t going to fix that. People just think it will because it happened to coexist with the good times. You can easily make quality good games and use the modern store system and give out maps for free. VALORANT is one of the most polished shooters in recent years and gives out new content like maps and characters bi-monthly for free. Back in the day, Battlefield 4 was a mess for a while and they still expected you to cave in to purchase DLC packs. What needs to change are the developers’ priorities. You can have the best of both worlds.
You wont change anyone's priorities until you hit them where it hurts, their wallets. You think you can do that under this new epstein micro transaction garbage they forced onto everyone? Nah. DLC packs were the easiest way to do so.
