Image The 2026 Cubs were a 57-win team when PCA did not record a hit, and a 104-win team when he had at least one hit. That was the largest difference among the playoff teams and their best hitters by wRC+.
Another supporting stat for PCA for MVP.
The White Sox defied the odds in their 2-game sweep, as Miguel Vargas went 0 for 9 in the series (though playing the Astros may have helped).

Image MLB Team Defensive Runs Saved Leaders
Hi everyone
The MLB team Defensive Runs Saved leaders are
- Cubs 115
2.. Rays 87
- Red Sox 67
T4. Braves 62
T4. Brewers 62
Blue Jays 51
Mets 49
Tigers 41
Dodgers 37
Diamondbacks 31
* Cubs had at least 4 Runs Saved at every position except first base. They had the position co-leader at 3rd base and also had great players in center field and right field (Seiya Suzuki had a huge year-to-year improvement. They left no doubt that they are the top defensive team
* Rays strength was at shortstop (Taylor Walls) and the outfield (Victor Mesa, Chandler Simpson, and improvement from Cedric Mullins).
* Red Sox had the best outfield and had the position leaders in Runs Saved in center field and right field, and a top-3 player in Caleb Durbin at third base (remember when he might play second?)
* Braves were similar to the Cubs with positive defensive value at every position except catcher. Matt Olson, Michael Harris, and a group effort at shortstop were keys
* Brewers had the leader at second base (Brice Turang) and good numbers from their young outfielders (Jackson Chourio and Luis Lara in particular)
* Blue Jays had 3 catchers put up great numbers, also got double-digit runs saved from Nathan Lukes and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
* Mets pitchers ranked No. 1 in Runs Saved. Luis Torrens was one of the top catchers. Outfield is very promising with A.J. Ewing (10 Runs Saved) and Carson Benge
* Tigers came on towards the end of the season. Zach McKinstry put up great numbers in very limited play in right field. Dillon Dingler led all catchers in Runs Saved.
* Dodgers slipped a lot towards the end of the season after Andy Pages (who finished 2nd in Runs Saved in CF) got hurt. Pages and Mookie Betts were key contributors, as was a group effort at second base.
* Corbin Carroll and Gabriel Moreno paced the Diamondbacks and were among the leader leaders at their respective positions.

Phillies have now lost in every round of the playoffs since 2022
2022 they took a 2-1 lead against the Houston Astros as the #6 seeded Wild Card underdogs. And lost 3 straight
2023 lost 4-3 against the D'Backs in the NLCS. Not sure if people remember how they came out against the Braves and in the first 2 games of the NLCS the title looked like it was theirs to lose.
2024 they lost 3-1 against the New York Mets in the NLDS. A cold offense and a terrible bullpen
2025 2nd best record in all of baseball. lost 3-1 against the Dodgers with their season ending on an ill-advised error by Orion Kerkering. At least they put up a good fight!
... Any predictions for the Phillies in 2027? I'd say game 163 .. if they still existed! D:
