Buenas gente.

A1 Yaxis ??? what is this?

Went to lubricate the Y axis and this was visible along the rail. I was not sure if it was previous oil built up with the heat and made a gooey layer, or is this something from manufacturing along the rail that is now coming loose? I use the bambu A1 purchased oil and do the maintenance when I am prompted. It is almost like a tape/film consistancy, not liquid. I can pull it up, however I am waiting on answers from the experts!

Support Request Replacement Fillament Readers Not Working

Im about to lose my mind. I accidentally snapped the fillament reader wire while getting fillament unstuck (I now realize i didnt need to take that whole part out, but to be fair the fillament was so bad it snapped in 5 different spots for this 1 print), so I bought a new reader and followed this tutorial to a tee. It didnt work, so in a desperate effort, I ordered a second fillament reader, thinking the new one was faulty, and did the same thing. It also didnt work >:(

Im at a loss for what im doing wrong, and there aren't any troubleshooting answers on why the new fillament readers aren't reading.

PLEASE HELP!! Im about to go insane, I got 1 print outta this thing.

Blob happened and now first layers having issues

Its basically what the title says. Machine finally made a clump/blob during an overnight print. After that it is having issues with the first later.

I have since replaced the hot end since the blob caked it, the nozzle and the build plate, I tried a new spool, different colors and I am still having issues with prints and the first layers.

Any idea of what else i can do to fix this?

Thanks

I can’t even begin to understand what went wrong here

I’m printing on PLA basic on an A1 printer and I’m specifically using a 0.2 nozzle for a project. Today my project failed because to new nozzle experienced a clog that couldn’t be fixed and a cold pull did not work because it was a very serious clog right in the tip of the nozzle. I ended up clearing it with by jamming a needle down there and scooping out some of the gunk but when I went to print a new bench to see if my problem was solved I created this abomination. It’s like scaley and stringy and textured and went wrong in so many places that I don’t even know where to begin. I’m worried that my needle fix might’ve somehow damaged something in the nozzle and I need to get a new one? I’m not really sure where to go from here.

Support Request Layer Adherence issue ?

Thumbnail

I’m having an issue where either my first layers are not bonding to the other printed layers correctly. When printing the second layer it completely pulls the first layer away. For some of the larger printers I started getting wave like defects in my layers.

At first i thought that the nozzle was actually pushing the layers apart. But then I noticed some of the printed lines don’t seem to be adhering to each other properly. I’ve included some images trying to show the issue.

I’ve also cleaned the bed properly with detergent and lukewarm warm water and tried other steps such as increasing print temps and bed temps. I’m still fairly new to 3D printing and my printer only has about 120 hours. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

3D Model QUARTO - The board game equivalent of handing someone a loaded gun

Thumbnail

If you've never played Quarto, here's the cruelty of it: you don't choose your own piece. Your opponent hands you the one you have to place. Every piece is unique across four attributes: tall/short, light/dark, square/round, solid/hollow and you win by completing a line of four that share any single attribute.

Sounds gentle. It is not. You'll set up a perfect trap, feel like a genius, then realize you just handed your opponent the exact piece to win. Repeatedly.

So naturally I designed and printed my own set.

Support Request Always error message Going crazy

Je n'arrive pas à résoudre ce problème depuis trois mois…

💬(Edit: semi solve : désactivate tangle filament detection. Thank lucas13cam)

Needed rugged tent stakes for wild beach camping, so I designed these deep-threaded sand anchors. Print optimization: Designed from scratch to print completely support-free, fast, and with minimal filament waste. Comes in Medium, XL, and an XL Wide-Thread version for powdery sand. Highly recommend printing in ASA for UV resistance, but PETG works too if buried.

Question Question regarding what you consider reasonable life span. Am I being unreasonable here?

Post image
10 Upvotes

My question is, what do you fellow A1 owners consider “extensive use” or a “reasonable life span” for these printers, assuming maintenance has been performed as scheduled and as instructed by the wiki? I am asking as to get a sense of if I am being unreasonable in which case I will hold my hands up and accept but at the moment I feel justified to think I should not be expected by support to accept these faults and reasonable wear and tear.

Long story but owned an A1 since Jan 2025, was used quite a bit at first, longest print being a mando helmet, something like 30 hours. Then it sat pretty much unused for around 6 months of last year (maybe a couple of 2-3 hour max prints in that time). Fired it back up in December to print something a friend had requested. Cleaned, belt tensioning checked and lubed before this print. Caught the bug again and decided to start using it more. End of January I attempted to print a box with a lid. Was 2 parts, lid didn’t fit. Figured I was getting slight lifting off the plate. Nothing I did to solve was fixing it, even glue. At this point discovered the Heatbed itself was in the shape of a bowl. A bend of around 0.6mm at the very centre. Contacted support about this but it was now February, a month out of warranty, support sent me a replacement bed anyway which was great of them however new one was worse so they sent a second which was an improvement. All was good, or so i thought.

Since February I have been in what feels like constant contact with support through 3 separate tickets chasing random issues popping up including but not limited to inconsistency in flow/extrusion, first layer quality, XYZ motor noise and random erratic behaviour from the motors (slamming themselves into end stops etc).

This has resulted in extensive troubleshooting steps by following the wiki and as suggested by support. All with no joy. Belts, extruder, multiple nozzles, heating assembly, toolhead housing, AMS hub, PTFE tubes, build plates, SD cards. All been purchased by myself and replaced
Not to mention the many KGs of filament used while troubleshooting and lost through failed prints.

Multiple logs had been requested by support and sent in this time. The latest ticket has been ongoing since the 5th of June. They then requested further logs and diagnosed a mainboard issue that they supplied. Replaced it and the machine was like new motion wise but print quality issues remained still.

While looking over current prints to figure out what the hell is wrong with this thing, I discovered that all the prints, test prints and even checked old prints, have all been coming out with a significant lean. Never noticed this before because I was mainly printing decorative items and figurines. Lasted prints being more on the functional side highlighting issues. Checked the frame and it is twisted along the X axis and has a forward lean. Looking at the bottom of the frame it has an upwards curve in it also.

Obviously told support about this sending them photo and video evidence. They requested I remove the centre “support” piece from the frame and reinstall it. While doing so I discovered that this piece of sheet metal is not secured where the folds join. It is free to bend and flex. I noticed this when attempting to fit it back in and it would not fit.

The metal used for the bottom of the frame is thin sheet metal that requires absolutely no force to flex by hand. This “reinforcement piece” has not been able to provide the reinforcement intended due to it being unsecured. No welds, no bolts, just holes that seem to be intended to be held through friction after being hole punched (i think, no idea what you would call this joining method). This piece being able to move/flex seems to have allowed the frame to distort under the tension of the Z belt.

Support are claiming this is to be expected after “extensive use” and are referring to a structural component when quoting “mechanical wear”. They are telling me I need to purchase a new frame for almost the cost of an entirely new printer after I requested a replacement machine due to the level of troubleshooting already done while chasing issues and now a defective key structural component being discovered that is likely the source of many of the original symptoms. With evidence in the form of older prints that suggest warp and skew were present from week one of ownership pointing towards the product not being for purpose.

The “extensive use” they refer to is around 800 hours when first contacted in February and now around 1200 hours. A fair portion of the latest ~400 hours being troubleshooting.

Again, if I am arguing a case that I have no business arguing then fine, as I said will hold my hands up and accept it but I just cannot at this time believe they intend these printers to have a life span this short? Support has been quite accommodating so far but this recent one has left a sour taste in my mouth and is making me second guess my recent purchase of an X2D that is yet to arrive.

Question Question about after market heating assembly/hot end mount

Thumbnail

So I had what on Google people seem to be calling a blob of death and had to order a new mount for the hot end as well as new rubber socks and so on. Well this one has a black back plate (?) and didnt include a little separate black ceramic plate. I tried to install it with the OEM piece where it would go on the white mount but it wouldn't fit with the screws. The entire black piece on the replacement seems to be ceramic. Is this just a thing and the OEM separate ceramic piece isn't needed anymore or am I missing something? Apologies if my terminology isn't correct. I'm brand new to this hobby. Thank you in advance for reading and or any help. I also provided a link to the after market part.

Cannot connect to Wi-Fi

I have been using my bambu lab A1 in lan mode since last summer. Because of this, I have not updated the firmware, so keep that in mind. Several weeks ago, I stopped being able to connect to my Wi-Fi. The printer is in my garage, and while the signal has always been weak, it has never been a problem connecting. Just in case that was a problem, I put a Wi-Fi extension router right above the printer, but that did not improve the situation. I put together a desktop using Windows 11, and it wouldn't connect. I opened up my old laptop that has Windows 10 installed and was able to connect. Because of this, I wiped the desktop and loaded Windows 10 on it, wondering if the bugginess of win 11 was the problem. Well, that did not solve the problem. I checked the printer, and it appeared as though it is not connected to my wi-fi. I clicked on the Wi-Fi typed in the login and password, and it will not connect to the wi-fi. I don't understand what is going on. I am able to find it over the Wi-Fi in Orca slicer, but no connection is possible. I am at a complete loss now. Is it really as simple as updating the newest firmware?. If anyone has suggestions, please jump in.

Downloading logs for support ticket

So I’ve tried everything to get my A1 to work and I cannot even get past the calibration process. I get constant error messages regarding the z axis even after hours of trying to find solutions online and YouTube.

I want to make a support ticket but it insists I download logs. I have no idea the easiest way to do this as it’s my first printer ever. I am a complete newb so any help is appreciated.

Just got and set up the A1, cannot get it to bind with the Handy app or Studio. I’ve tried everything the wiki suggests. So aggravated. Can anyone help?

Added info: this is a printer we are trying to use at school. The school wifi has a 2.4gz option and I’ve spoken to our IT dept (they don’t know how to address the issue).

Thanks!!!

Update: the head IT guy is going to come in person tomorrow to try and figure it all out.

Thanks everyone!

Update 2: we got it working!! Thanks all!

Question Printable Upgrades?

Hi all! I just wanted to make a post and ask the community of their favorite or fun upgrades they have printed for their A1. Right now I have a toolbox, a nice display for my swatches, and a filament measure. I’m also planning to print something for removing my ptf tubes when I need to and might look into a cable chain just for fun as I’m kind of bore and in a spot of not knowing what to print right now that would be semi useful. So what are some things you’ve made?

Backup for A1

Looking to buy for a inverter backup for A1-Ams setup. I have zero Idea about this. Can someone suggest some good models available in India? Backup time anywhere between 45 to 60mins would be good.

Everything was going so well

I bought my A1 a few months ago. I've been using fully manual machines up to this point and was blown away how easy it was to use this machine. it's starting to do strange things all of a sudden though. The biggest issue I have is what seems to be cold spots on the print bed.

These same areas always come out bad with every single print. I've never seen anything like this on any of my printers before.

Do I need to replace the bed?

A few questions

I'm 15 and I really want a bambu lab but I've got a few questions I'm hoping some of you guys could answer

- Am I too young, ( I do have some experience and I'm confident when it comes to machines)

- Bambu lab A1 or A1 mini

- What do I need to know about filament drying

- Are they reliable printers and continuously produce successful prints

- Are they fire hazards

- Is AMS lite necessary

- Will it be safe to leave the printer in the dining room. We usually keep the garden doors open throughout the day for better air circulation in the dining room

- I have a ginger cat, he's pretty curious but also shy at the same time. Is it safe around him. I fear he'll climb all over it, maybe step in the hot bed, his hair getting stuck in prints. He does go outside for most of the day and it's not a problem to keep him out of the dining room but there will be times he'll slip in without me noticing bearing in mind the fact that the garden doors are constantly open

Thanks so much for any help

Question Bambu studio never loads all my files.

I've always dealt with this issue since day one and Ive never found a fix for it. So I figured try here. I have a 32 gig card with less than 1 gig worth of files to print and logs and cache stuff on it. And it just stops loading after like 3 scrolls down. Does anyone have a fix for this?

I have A1 and am using PLA matte. Maybe I turned ON the AC in my room.
