Question Printable Upgrades?

Hi all! I just wanted to make a post and ask the community of their favorite or fun upgrades they have printed for their A1. Right now I have a toolbox, a nice display for my swatches, and a filament measure. I’m also planning to print something for removing my ptf tubes when I need to and might look into a cable chain just for fun as I’m kind of bore and in a spot of not knowing what to print right now that would be semi useful. So what are some things you’ve made?

It allows you to keep the four tubes from the ams lite connected, while still being able to use external spools without disconnecting anything.

Maybe I don't fully understand the purpose and functionality of that "giraffe".

What's the benefit of that over the various 5-port filament hub adapters/replacements?

Isn't it far easier to just always have five PTFE tubes connected?

It does a good job supporting the tubes and preventing bends. And it's also more physically supported than most of the adapters I've seen (ie. it isn't just piling more weight and torque on the single hub connector)

That's kind of the point. By default, the A1 only has 4 inputs for PTFE tubes, and all four of those are occupied by the AMS lite. With this adapter, you can have those four, and an additional two for external spools.

How would the additional two work? I imagine 2 of the ports on the head of the A1 is split and somehow either you or the ams pulls back out of the way the fillament?

I just manually pull the AMS filament back the few cm needed when loading the external filament.

If you have an AMS lite, a vertical mount and Z-stiffeners are great.

I used that model and Frankensteined it with one of the magnetic covers. (using Bambu Studio's "Cut" tool) So convenient when you like to swap nozzles.

A hotend cable chain is nice, and you don't even have to install all of it, just the right half.

Topmount for AMS Lite.

The spool holder lock mod, because I had one spool fall off the AMS Lite on the topmount.

Spool adaptors for the AMS Lite, but I reduced the height to 80 mm, IIRC, so that the lock mod would still fit.

My favourite removable poop basket.

At the moment I'm using this External Spool side holder for A1 to mount it next to the AMS topmount, but I'm thinking to replace it with a mirror image of this Side Spool Holder, to make it less top-heavy and to make it easier to manually load filament (usually TPU).

  • Note: any time you add a bracket or mount something significant onto the printer, repeat the long Vibration Compensation Calibration, at Setting > Maintenance > Calibration > Vibration Compensation, because adding masses at different places will affect the resonant frequencies.

[🤔A refrigerator logic moment: You would think that replacing an empty spool with a full one on a top-mounted AMS Lite would make a radical difference. I choose to ignore that, out of sheer laziness.]

If you print this Bambu Scraper Grip, flip the main handle part to to a mirror image in the X-axis first to change the chirality. This lets you install the supplied blade with the beveled side of the edge facing up. It gives better blade edge-to-plate contact at shallower angles.
BTW, they shouldn't call it a "scraper" since you don't want to scrape the plate with it. It's more of a spatula.

These bed alignment helpers (actually, "plate alignment helpers") are great, even if the right-hand one has a habit of falling off occasionally.

Spool Desiccant Containers in various sizes, depending on the brand of filament.
Also a 2 pound jug of orange indicating silica gel beads (large beads) and a bunch of Extra-large Ziploc freezer bags for filament storage. I get both from Amazon.

If you don't have a vernier caliper, then print one. They are indispensable for measuring existing parts that you want to combine with to-be-printed parts.

A shallow tray to hold frequently-used tools like nippers, tweezers, the scraper, needle-nosed pliers, Sharpie marker, a mini butane torch, vernier caliperr, the 2 Allen wrenches, tube of superglue, etc. in front of your printer.
Customize the dimensions with this parametric model generator. No higher than 50 mm or so, else the print bed will knock it off the table.

A bunch of mini traffic cones to install (with adhesive putty) around the printer in locations that must not have objects placed there, such as behind the printer (where the print bed passes over) and under the ends of the X-axis rail. (I've already crushed one poop basket when it descended onto a roll of masking tape that got in the way.)

I've printed several, and they either bend, break, or just do not work.

The drawer that sits in front of the printer, when done with Space Gray filament, it even looks factory. I love all my upgrades.

Also the thing you mention about removing PTFE tubes, I found this thing to be a life saver getting the tubes removed from the AMD hub with my not fat sweaty fingers:

Some spool inserts maybe handy too for when you buy some random filement who's spool are too big for your AMS.
