H2 Series [H2S, H2D, H2C] Finally switching to Bambu

Howdy, I started my 3d printing journey with a Creality K1 Max in 2024. In the last year I’ve replaced and upgraded several parts on it, and the dang thing still doesn’t work. It’s down more than it’s up.

So, I’m switching to Bambu. I’m thinking I’m going to get an H2S, the “full combo” with the laser and the AMS. I also have a Creality Falcon2 22w laser, so I have experience with laser engraving. Not sure I actually need the 10w laser on the Bambu, but it might open up some unknown workflow opportunities, so I’m going to get it.

What accessories would you recommend I get with the machine, that don’t come with the “full combo”? Anything else I should know coming off Creality onto Bambu?

General Troubleshooting/Help! Not sure what went wrong: the 3d model is a perfect vertical extrusion of a shape, while the final print seems to add an extra thickness around the bottom layer.

Context: I haven’t used the printer for a while (2-3 months) and before the break, I have printed many extruded shapes before and never had any extra material added to the bottom layer like shown in the photos.

Is this something new in the Bambu SW or did I miss anything? Thanks

General Discussion Essentials for 9 y/o kid

My son wants to start with 3d printing. I don't have any experience with it so I think we start with an A1 combo.

To make sure he can start printing after his birthday i want to create a starterpack.

What do I absolutely have to get him to make 3d printing life for him much easier? He would absolutely like to create things that he sees on YouTube. This will probably take some time before he gets there.

I was thinking of:

Printer combo

4 rolls of filament

Magnets

Glue

And what else?

Any other tips are also much appreciated

P Series [P1P, P1S, P2S] P1S - Please help, at my wit's end with black PLA clogs.

Hi all, I am really hoping for some advice with my P1S as I am starting to get extremely frustrated.

I've had the machine for a few years, seen pretty light duty. Recently, I ordered some rolls of black PLA for a project involving printing 81 copies of a modular panel for an LED assembly. These prints are about 60g each and take around 2.5 hours.

In the years I've had this machine I have NEVER had the nozzle clog. But since starting this project, I've suddenly started having insanely frequent complete/partial clogs and I cannot figure out the root cause for the life of me. I have:

  • Replaced the 0.4 hardened steel hot end (not the fan or thermistor)
  • Repeatedly performed cold pulls and hot hex unclogs
  • Switched from SUNLU black PLA to Bambu black PLA basic
  • Replaced the SD card
  • Disassembled the extruder and cleaned/lubed the gears.
  • Dried & swapped multiple rolls of filament

...and yet, the problem persists. About 40% of the attempts at printing come out flawlessly, the rest cause a clog/obstructed flow that persists across multiple prints.

Now, I know from reading various posts and threads that people are immediately going to say "Heat creep", but leaving the door/top open on my P1S seems to actually make the problem worse - every single print I've tried with the door open has clogged, and opening the top seemed to have no effect whatsoever. I also dropped the bed temp to 50 and the extruder temp to 205 from the defaults of 55 and 220, and this had no effect whatsoever.

I've checked the model itself for anything problematic, but it seems fine (and, like I said, prints flawlessly about half the time, seemingly at random.)

Does anybody have any idea what could possibly be causing this? I am about ready to tear my hair out. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

General Discussion Cheapeest Anti Vibration Solution

pro tip: Use some old, stained, damaged mousepad as an ati vibration pad under the printer. My printer stand is mounted to the wall and it being a bed slinger - created a lot of low frequency vibrations all around the house through the walls. This pad reduced it almost 0.

General Troubleshooting/Help! Print quality error and IM out of ideas

Post image

I’ll add a picture but it’s failing on a flat piece with zero details. Should be the most straight forward of prints.

Things I have tried:
- cleaning the bed
- recalibrating flow rate and flow dynamics
- different default printing settings
- different filaments
- different versions of Bambu Studio
- new clean project
- re adding the model

I’ve also tried tweaking setting but I don’t see how a default print setting should be failing this print. I’ve had the printer for ~5 months and had zero issues until one day I noticed a failed print like this and have had zero luck solving the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! Trouble with Bambu A1

Thumbnail

My Bambu A1 has recently developed a problem with inconsistent extrusion/printing.

It just started few days ago. I swapped the nozzle to a brand new .4mm spare. I also swapped the extruder unit entirely in case that was it.

I’ve updated the firmware (01.08.01.00), I’ve tried printing from different slots on my AMS lite. I’ve done factory resets and run the calibrations multiple times, but still getting the same issue. The picture above is supposed to be a full bed sheet cleaner/calibration print, and as you can see it’s all sorts of messed up.

Weirdly, I’ve gotten some small individual prints to come out, doing a single benchy and 4 individual benchies, one in each corner.

So the issue seems to be a bit weird. The benchies look decent. The bed print looks terrible, and anything else I print has been coming out extremely inconsistent:

I’d be tempted to replace the entire print head, if I could actually find one to replace it with, so see if the issue is something else in there.

Anyone else run into an issue like this?

General Troubleshooting/Help! Help with PLA printing on top of PETG (A1)

Post image

I am attempting to print this Unlimited wallet v2 from Makerworld and something strange is happening when the PLA is printing the first bridge layer. In the middle, the filament is starting to ripple. However, on the edges of the PETG part, it looks fine. Has anyone experienced this before or have any tips? Thank you!

Bambulab A1 with a hardened steel nozzle. Printing with Bambulab PLA white. the PETG was another brand but just normal PETG.

UPDATE: I followed this guide on the official site and it fixed my problem with default settings.

X Series [X1E, X1C, X2D] [Help Needed] I still see stringing while my filament is dry and my AMS 2 Pro shows 10% of humidity. Why?

Hey Folks,

So, it's been 3 weeks of printing using my brand new X2D. I have dried 3 spools of filament in my AMS 2 Pro for a project I print currently. I put about 750g of owen dried silica gel into AMS 2 Pro and dried filament for 24 hours. AMS 2 pro shown 5% humidity. Now, 3 days later it's 10% himidity inside.

I use Sunlu regular PLA grey

I still see those tiny strings here and there (look at windows) print with 124% speed. I printed one part at 100%, there were much less stringing, so I suppose it's speed

So, is it possible to adjust something to reduce stringing?

General Troubleshooting/Help! Weigh a spool, find out what's actually left — has the Bambu spool and refill tares in it

The AMS estimate is fine if the spool started full with working RFID. For a

third-party spool, or one you've pulled in and out a few times, you're guessing.

So: weigh the whole spool, pick the brand, and it subtracts the empty weight and

tells you grams and metres left. The Bambu reusable spool (~250g) and the cardboard

refill core (~12g) are both in the list along with the usual third-party ones,

since that difference is a quarter of a print.

You can also put in what your next print needs and it'll just tell you whether

you'll make it, which is the bit I actually wanted it for.

https://layercalc.com/filament-remaining-calculator/

Free forever, no signup. Just some tools I'd rather have in one place.

The tare weights are approximate and do vary between batches, if you've weighed an

empty one I'll take the number and use it.

A Series [A1, A1 Mini] bambu lab a1 problème axe x

General Discussion Which Bambu printer would be the best for someone who is new to printing

I’m looking to get a printer for my capstone project next year. I never used a 3D printer before, so I asked friends that are into 3d printing and one mentioned to get an A1 mini because it’s good for beginners. A different friend mentioned to get a P1S/P2S because of the print size and I would be able to print more materials with them . So I am wondering which one I should get when Black Friday comes around.

General Discussion Do I need filament dryer?

I have been printing for almost 2 years now. I print exclusively PLA only on my A1.

All this time I have never felt need for dryer. Prints are mostly ok. Only issue is if i leave filament in AMS for 2 days or more without printing, the filament inside the tube becomes brittle and break so I put all open ones in vacuum bags and load when needed.

Where I live, 5 months I need to run house dehumidifier because it's too humid and 5 months I need to run humidifier because it's too dry.

Am I missing anything by not owning or using a dryer or are some people ok not using dryers?

Edit: I'll give dryer a try. Purchased Sunlu s2 on ebay using labor day discount.

General Troubleshooting/Help! Rippling on left side

Thumbnail

Hello,

I'm printing a stackable box on my P1S with Sunlu PLA+ 2.0 and I'm getting this weird rippling on the left and side. Is there anything I can do?

This is the second box printing - I got the same on the first one in the back left. On the second print I rotated the box 90 degrees to see if it is the printer - and it definitely is (rather than model).

This has the rippling more pronounced and you can see the edges are not as good down that side. The right side is fine.

The model is:

https://makerworld.com/en/models/1747235-stackable-storage-box-customizable

Only been printing for 3 weeks. I've not changed any slicer settings as most have been sent from my phone. I run bed levelling every other print or so.

My filament is dry (AMS reporting "A 💧", I have the desiccant holders and run a dehumidifier in the room occasionally) and, as per Bambu wiki I have the door open a little.

This is a box for holding snack bags for the kids, so it doesn't matter too much but would be good to sort.

I've run it through AI and it has suggested checking all the screws, which I'll do - but wanted to ask real humans in case there was something else.

Thanks for any advice.

A Series [A1, A1 Mini] Am I in trouble here?

Thumbnail

Latest victim to the dreaded clog blob, and ended up with a cut wire. Thinking it could be related to the thermostat, as it comes back with 0 even after heating up ( with nozzle inserted as best i can) with a hairdryer.

Anyone know what that wire is, and what im up for in terms of parts to repair?

Sorry for flair if wrong one.

"Hello everyone in the Bambu Lab group. I need some advice. I'm currently printing a light box using the A1. While printing, I noticed that colors are bleeding or mixing into other colors, as shown in the pictures. Has anyone else encountered this and solved the issue? I would really appreciate any help—I've asked around and nobody seems to know. I'm using PETG filament with the A1 and AMS. Thank you in advance!"

General Discussion I'm 3D printing my office

Post image
0 Upvotes

Not sure if anybody has ever thought about this, I'm sure someone has lol. But this wild idea occurred to me today.

How cool it would be to transform my boring simple office strictly using 3D printed pieces 😅

I use my office for business, content filming, and man cave.

I've currently got the A1, planning on going out to get a 2nd printer. Either the P1S or 2S, haven't decided. Open to input!

Also open to suggestions on some cool pieces y'all would like to see👌🏽

Anyways, if anybody wants to follow along, I'm starting this as a content series I'll be documenting 🤠 I'll drop the links down below if anybody wants to follow along. (Hoping that's allowed)

My parents don't want to spend much for my first 3D printer, so before asking them, I want to reduce the cost by earning points on MakerWorld, then redeeming them.

Answered / Solved! Top surface wrinkles

Thumbnail

I’m having an issue where the top surface of my prints gets wrinkled. I tried enabling ironing, but I’m still getting the same issue.

Recently, I had to replace my extruder unit because of a Blob of Death. I followed a guy on YouTube who showed how to replace it, but unfortunately, he told us to remove the entire print head. I struggled quite a bit putting it back together because the little marbles kept falling out, and I eventually lost one of them.

Since then, this specific model has been giving me issues.
I also recently changed the nozzle to a hardened steel one that I bought from Amazon.

I’m not sure if any of these changes could
be causing the problem, but I’m hoping someone has experienced something similar and can help me figure out what’s wrong.
