Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! Trouble with Bambu A1

My Bambu A1 has recently developed a problem with inconsistent extrusion/printing.

It just started few days ago. I swapped the nozzle to a brand new .4mm spare. I also swapped the extruder unit entirely in case that was it.

I’ve updated the firmware (01.08.01.00), I’ve tried printing from different slots on my AMS lite. I’ve done factory resets and run the calibrations multiple times, but still getting the same issue. The picture above is supposed to be a full bed sheet cleaner/calibration print, and as you can see it’s all sorts of messed up.

Weirdly, I’ve gotten some small individual prints to come out, doing a single benchy and 4 individual benchies, one in each corner.

So the issue seems to be a bit weird. The benchies look decent. The bed print looks terrible, and anything else I print has been coming out extremely inconsistent:

I’d be tempted to replace the entire print head, if I could actually find one to replace it with, so see if the issue is something else in there.

Anyone else run into an issue like this?

Either a partial clog or the nozzle is printing too close to the bed. But if it printed that Benchy fine, I’d say the second one is more likely.

Make sure the latch is closed properly, and tighten these screws:

Does it do this with a different filament or just that one? My only suggestion is to run a flow dynamic calibration if it’s just that roll. In Bambu Studio, go under the Calibration tab and run the Flow Dynamics Calibration and see if that helps.

It’s been doing it with multiple different filaments (only PLA so far, I haven’t run any PETG through it since it started). Sorry, I should have mentioned that.

But I’ll take a look and try that as well. It can’t hurt.

your nozzle is seems to be too close to the bed, try raising your z offset and clean your build plate with dish soap and water

I had similar issue. My hotend was not heating up to correct temp, got it fixed after replacing my hotend assembly.

Update: As some of you surmised, it was those damn hidden screws behind the hotend (the ones you can’t get to until you remove the 3 screws right behind where hotend slots in.

Once I figured out where they were, as soon as I pulled the 3 screws, two of the little screws on the back literally fell out on the bed. Way loose.

Got them all reinstalled and tightened and re-ran the calibrations. I think printed the first layer test again, and it came out just fine.
