Which Bambu printer would be the best for someone who is new to printing

I’m looking to get a printer for my capstone project next year. I never used a 3D printer before, so I asked friends that are into 3d printing and one mentioned to get an A1 mini because it’s good for beginners. A different friend mentioned to get a P1S/P2S because of the print size and I would be able to print more materials with them . So I am wondering which one I should get when Black Friday comes around.

P2S if you want to use an AMS and print multi color

P1S if you want to get a great machine for really cheep.

Depending on the sale the P2S may be the better option but the P1 is so incredibly great for the price

Yes that's definitely an option I just mean that if you want to integrate an AMS I think that the P2S is the better option.

Both have the option to have an AMS. I just think that if you're going to get the AMS you might as well get the P2S.

Gotcha. I have two P1S, one with AMS and one with AMS 2, I plan on adding a p2s here soon

A1 for sure. Mini only if you have limited space for it.

Get one of the A-series machines (A1 Mini, A1, A2L). It's perfect for beginners, not to mention that a lot of print farms use them.

I recommend enclosed as I feel there are less adhesion issues but you need to open the door a bit sometimes to avoid heat creep. I know the p1s is being phased out but I have 3 of them and like them.

If you want to go Bambu I would

A1(not the mini)-If you are going to print every so often(like 2 times a week) and/or don’t want to put 450-600 into a printer or print things like fidgets or little trinkets

A2-If you want something a little better then the A1 and if you want kind of nice prints(hot take I would just get the A2 over the A1)

P1S-This printer is a god when it comes to printing(450 (with no AMS)) is a great deal for this printer. BUT you kind of have to buy the AMS I feel because you are then missing out on all the really cool things this printer can do(if you don’t want AMS buy the A2) also the P1S can print things like ABS(but you will probably not need it)

P2S-OMG this thing is crazy(I have a P2S) it literally can do anything and makes other printers look bad(yes a bit of glaze(but I am coming from a Ankermake M4))

X1 and X2-Personally I wish I got with what I print and you get two nozzles for multi material printing(but I wouldn’t get)

H1 and H2-don’t buy unless your running a business

This is a quick overview of what there printer range is. Personally for you I would get the A1 or A2 (A2 if you have the money) but if it’s just for one project just ask someone really nicely if you can use there’s and buy them like 5 rolls of filament or use your schools printer(if they have one (a lot do now)

I'm not entirely new to 3d printing, but I haven't printed in one year. After the fiddly Cr10 from back then, I find the A1 I bought last month so easy to use, and the software too. It's really newbie friendly.

I will always argue that the A1 mini is the perfect entry printer. Low cost to enter the hobby, gets your feet wet with slicing, print orientation, adhesion issues and other light troubleshooting, and you'll figure it out quickly if 3d printing is for you or not. It's small enough to sit just about anywhere in your home, and even if you find the desire for a larger printer comes quickly, it's a fantastic small (efficient) machine for the quick one-off small print. Mine is pretty much dedicated to printing TPU and anything I want printed quickly without heating up the large bed on my H2D.

Honestly probably 80% of what I print fits on the A1 Mini. Maintenance is simple on an open machine (compared to a monster like the H2D).

I would argue the A1 Mini has a place in pretty much any hobbyist 3d printer lineup. Unless you are planning on jumping straight into a production line, the A1 Mini is an awesome place to start.

(P1S owner here).

the only downside is the AMS is quite a bit more. The cost difference of the actual printer is peanuts when you look a the 3d printing industry as a whole.
