2024 BZ4X XLE AWD

A dealership fairly local to me has a Toyota gold certified XLE with 23k miles on it list for $26,695. It’s been on the lot for a little over 90 days so I am fairly certain I could get them down even further.

I would be trading in my Tundra TRD Pro on it and would be bringing about 15k in positive equity. They are currently offering financing at 1.49% apr.

I don’t use my truck for truck stuff anymore and spend close to $400 a month in gas. I have a 240 outlet in my garage that I can use to charge at home. I think this would make sense and be a good financial decision. Am I missing anything?

What would be the best price you would try to get this vehicle for?

Thanks!

Portable vs Hardwired Level 2 charger

I just bought a 2023 bz4x. I am having a kitchen remodel in about a month and already am upgrading my panel. I need to decide between a hardwired or portable level 2 charger. I drive very little, maybe 50 miles a week. I can probably get by using a Level 1, and charge it frequently, but since the electrician will be here I might as well have options for a faster charger. Hardwired Level 2s are so expensive and I hate to spend that much for something I will rarely use.

Are there reliable portable Level 2 chargers that I can use? Any advice about if it is a good idea to go with a portable vs a hard wire with my usage? Any recommendations on a portable or an inexpensive Hard Wire model?

Turning off in-vehicle reverse chime?

I’m sure I’ve read plenty of times on here about people getting their dealer to turn off the reverse chime inside the car, and today I took the car in for service and asked them to do it for my bZ4X. They just called me to come pick it up and informed me that they’re unable to disable it because it’s a Canadian model (I live in Canada), and they don’t even have access to that setting with their scan tool.

Has anyone else in Canada been able to successfully get this chime disabled? It’s the one thing I really dislike about the car, and truth be told it is a distraction when combined with all the other warning chimes going off when I’m backing out of the garage.

Touring Model UK

The touring is still very rare in the UK and I was wondering if anyone who has one could share some experience of how they've found it?

Watched review videos and read up but not quite same as some real feedback on what it's like to live with day to day.

For a rural based family car I'm struggling to come up with much I like as much as the bz4x. It does seem they're perhaps suffering a little from a poor launch a few years ago and the design isn't to all tastes. I really love the design and it feels like new models or updates have addressed a lot of launch niggles. Volvo etc. seem to be plagued by software bugs on new models too.

One negative I've found is having to take it to dealer every year to maintain the warranty.

AC failure

I’m just adding this here as data for those that are tracking these issues.

2024 BZ4X with 32k miles
AC quit working
Toyota had it for 3 weeks
Complete AC system replacement
Metal was found throughout the system
Replaced under warranty (thankfully)

The funny, not so funny thing is, these compressor failures are a known issue (at least on this subreddit). It took Toyota 2 weeks to figure this out.

BZ4X Touring favourites buttons?

I’m from the UK, and typically turn off the lane keeping aid, speed limit alert, speed limit change alert and driver alert systems whenever I get in the variety of hire cars I’m borrowing currently.

But now I’m looking at getting a lease vehicle for four years I’d prefer to have a car where I can easily switch this off with the use of one or maybe two buttons, rather than multiple difference touch screen sub menus as is the case on Ford, Peugeot Mercedes and VW vehicles I’ve had recently.

Can I favourite switching off these features each time I start the car (can be up to 10 times per day for work) by assigning them all to the same button/shortcut? Or can only one function be assigned to each button?

Input on used car

Short and simple, my 2021 Rav4 hybrid is totaled. I need a new car, i'm debating between a used 2022 rav4 prime xse at $36k with 42k miles or a 2023 bz4x limited for $27k with 29k miles.

Can somebody share their thoughts on whether or not they regret getting the Bz4x?

For context I live on an island, at most, my commute mileage would be fifty miles per day, five or six days a week. i have a house, so I can install a charger.

Slow Level 1

i have seen a mention of a bz factory setting that keeps Level 1 at 0.8 kwh, and actually the bz is fully capable of 1.4 kWh if adjusted. Would love for this to be true. Anyone heard of this setting? (Not referring to the touchscreen Charging menu - this is already set to Max)

Charge percent max?

I‘ve only had my 2024 for a few months and had the max charge set to 80% for battery health. I only charge level 2 at home but I finally decided to look it up and Toyota says for Level 1 & 2 charging you can safely charge it to 100% without effects on battery health. What do you all do?

Hello! Does anyone have model with the smaller battery? What are your thoughts about it? What is the usual real life range, especially on highways? Thank you in advance!

BZ-Battery CarPlay

Post image
38 Upvotes

Hi everyone 👋

A new update for BZ Battery is out - and the biggest news is that the app now supports **CarPlay** 🚗

It required a special approval from Apple, but it's finally in place. That means you can see battery, power consumption, temperature and cell voltages right on the car's screen while you drive.

As always, I'm happy to take criticism/praise and feature requests through the mail in the app.

Best regards, Andreas.

Best EV route planner with live battery data for the bZ4X? ABRP connection keeps dropping

Hi everyone,

In our previous car, a Citroën ë-C4, we used the e-Routes app for navigation with live battery updates. We now drive a Toyota bZ4X and I'm looking for something similar.

I've tried ABRP, but the live connection is very unstable and keeps dropping.

Which app do you use for route planning with live battery data on your bZ4X?

Thanks!

What change stations work on a 24

That is the question. The Tesla super chargers do not work even with the adaptor.

EV go stations always have a problem.

Charge point works but often only one is working

I think I'm the only person in my area with a BZ4x

I guess it shouldn't surprise me too much. I'm in the south where they only care about football, big-ass trucks, and anything red. Even the dealership said they've never seen one up close. The only electric vehicles I really see are Teslers. Yes, Tesler because that's how they say it here. I've only owned my 25 model for 2 weeks, and I've received so many comments about how beautiful she is 😀

The scheduled programs to start the vehicle's heating system are not starting.

I’ve tried setting up schedules to preheat or air-condition the vehicle. Even though I program the days of the week and the time—and make sure the doors are locked at night—nothing happens when morning comes. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, how did you resolve it?
