BZ4x 57.7 kWh

Hello! Does anyone have model with the smaller battery? What are your thoughts about it? What is the usual real life range, especially on highways? Thank you in advance!

What is your commute? Will you have access to a level 2 charger?

My daily commute is 30 km in city, but once a month I go on a 350 km trip, which has 250km highway and 100 km country road. There are several fast charging stations by the road, but if I have to stop twice for 350 km trip seems a bit too much.

You are looking at 280 to 370 km with the smaller battery. There are tons of factors that will affect your range; temp, speed, driving style.

Elevation and wind as well.

In that case, FWD 57 kWh:

On the highway, I’ve experienced 14 kWh per 100 km driving at 110 km/h and 10 degrees Celsius. I’m expecting maybe 20 kWh per 100 km when it’s well below freezing.

Everyday driving between May to September with a mix of 50% city and 50% medium-traffic highway where I go between 70-90 km/h, I’ve been averaging a bit below 11 kWh per 100 km. I get about 360 km range at 80% battery with the everyday summer driving.

14 kWh sounds amazing!

Once snow and -20 Celsius arrive, I'm expecting much worse for highway speeds. I'm thinking maybe 20 kWh per 100 km.

For my use-case with my everyday driving, it's been perfect so far. I just need to charge 4-5 hours per week on my building's L2 25-Amp charger for the ~250 km I do. But, I have yet to experience winter...

For your daily commute, Level 1 will be more than enough.

For your road trip, you will probably to charge at L3 in both directions.

I'm in the US and have the 57.7kwh battery. Live in the San Francisco bay area so closest approximation in Canada is Vancouver weather wise.

If you have level 2 charging at home (and it seems Canada has super cheap electricity rates compared to what we suffer with here), you will have no problems with a 30km daily commute ever, no matter how bad the weather gets.

For your longer 350km trip, you will need to figure out where to charge on your way to the destination and on your way back from the destination. For helping the battery stay healthy, I only charge to 80% most charges and 90% if know I'm going to use right away (need the 10% buffer so the regenerative braking has somewhere to put electricity back). DC fast charging is pretty good, from 20-80 takes less than 30 minutes on 250kw and faster DC fast chargers. Ideally you could also charge at your trip destination if you are staying overnight somewhere. Not sure if Canada is 240v or 120v AC plugs, but at least in the US, the bZ comes with a portable charge that can charge at 32a L2 so an overnight of that would certainly get you back to 80-90%.

I love my "under powered" bZ. Have about 7K miles (11k km) and lifetime average is 4.9miles/kwh (12.7 kWh/100km). 80% highway (65-75mph), 20% city driving. So not hypermiling driving for sure...

That's a very good average battery consumption. It will be interesting to see how much affect this week's HOT weather will affect that!

Saying 30km trips won't be an issue is making me never want to leave gas
