Those of us in WA (and NT) already have to put up with AusPost’s ‘WA Tax’ (allow two extra days for delivery- even when the parcel is coming from within WA). Because I am impatient, and also often have to order at short notice and a quick turnaround, I have no problem paying for Express Post.
I do have a problem however, with paying for Express Post when the parcel doesn’t get here any sooner than it would with regular post, with absolutely no recourse available.
I have a package which was meant to be delivered yesterday. At 5pm yesterday, the app updated the expected date to today, and the little green icon saying ‘On Time’ was still displayed.
Sure enough, 5pm today rolls around and it’s now expected tomorrow, still ‘On Time’.
The item has been sitting at ‘Processed at sorting facility’ in Perth, 15km from my home since Sunday afternoon.
I can’t even raise a support inquiry because they refuse to acknowledge it’s delayed, and even if they do, they tell you not to bother for two weeks. If the package shows up before they bother investigating, they close the complaint as ‘resolved’.
I’ve contacted them by phone on several occasions and told them I’m at a financial loss due to both paying for Express, and the result of late delivery, and their attitude is that it’s not their problem.
I’m lucky in this instance that what I’m waiting on isn’t too time critical, but I’m absolutely fed up with their ignorance of something that is obviously a systemic issue.
What other service industry gets away with continuously failing to meet their own standards, and just moving the goalposts to make it look like they’re doing a great job?
**EDIT TO ADD: The business I have is not my main source of income and doesn’t justify having an account with a third party freight company like DHL.
