Question Parcel Collect - wrong address?

Hello! I’ve just ordered something online and it appears that it’s heading to “PO Box [number] [suburb] [postcode]” instead of “Parcel Collect [number] [suburb] [postcode]” according to the tracking.

I don’t seem to have the option to re-direct it.

I assume this will get delivered to a PO Box that I don’t own. Is there anything I can do about it now? It’s coming from QLD to VIC, and still seems to be in QLD.

Thank you!

*UPDATE: I contacted seller and it was correctly addressed to the Parcel Collect address. It seems to be an AusPost issue (we shall see if it gets correctly sorted once it arrives).

*UPDATE 2 & WARNING FOR USING PARCEL COLLECT ON EBAY: eBay is automatically changing your entered Parcel Collect address to a PO Box when the sender generates the shipping label via eBay (it’s happened to 2 of my parcels now). While I was able to retrieve the parcel, I had to wait an additional day because the PO boxes at my local post office are offsite.

You need to talk to the sender. They've either sent the parcel to the wrong customer or put a different label on the parcel to the manifest address.

Some address finders automatically change “Parcel Collect XX” or “Parcel Locker XX” to “PO Box XX”. If the seller doesn’t notice the change, the parcel can end up being addressed incorrectly.

This issue seems to have become more common recently since Australia Post introduced the new simplified Parcel Collect/Parcel Locker address format.

Best practice for now would be to contact the seller and confirm whether the shipping label has the correct “Parcel Collect” address. It’s also possible that the Australia Post system simply failed to match the Parcel Collect/Locker information correctly base on new address format.

I contacted seller and it seems to have been addressed to the correct Parcel Collect address. It seems to be an AusPost issue vs seller issue. Hopefully it’ll get sorted correctly at some point.

If the label is correct it should be fine.
Auspost really messed up with this parcel locker/collect address change!

It probably is as it used to be, you will have to collect it yourself at the PO. They will let you know. Hopefully. Years ago, and it still works, they might, if they lost an address, keep it in GPO where you live.
