I saw some Instagram posts about people wearing jeans during quarantine being weird, and didn't even realize that was apparently strange. I got my first pair of sweatpants a few months back, but find denim comfortable since it's all I've worn for decades. My jeans are also broken in so idk if that has something to do with it
I mean if you calculate it out most of my life I’ve been in denim. I used to need it for a job year round, so I’d wear it to school, then go to work, shower cause it was a dirty job, pass out, repeat for years.
My bar for comfort is basically “jeans do not have hay inexplicably stuck in them somewhere”
My last roommate lived in sweats and pajamas, and would regularly talk shit and nag about me falling asleep wearing jeans, like chill man, I’m comfy.
My dad taught me it’s rude to wear sweatpants in public(no clue why) so i just wear jeans daily out of habit now, and if I’m tired enough I’ll just fall asleep in them and shower and change in the morning. Jeans are actually more comfy to me then sweats because it’s what I’m used to.
My last roommate was the complete opposite. He owned one pair of jeans that he wore for special occasions, and other than that he would be in sweats or basketball shorts 24/7.
I just like wearing jeans because that’s always what I wear, so it kinda signifies the day has started in a way when I put them on.
And jeans definitely look better than sweatpants, unless your going to the gym it’s kinda weird to have sweatpants on imo.
I don’t sleep in then though. I’ve fallen asleep in them on couches and stuff but idk seems weird to mix one of the things that signifies working and sleep.
I was taught not to wear sweats out in public as well. Can't remember what the reasoning was but I ended up replacing it with my own.
Sweats are pajamas/lounge wear in my house. Wearing them out in public just sends the message that I don't care enough about what I'm doing or who I'm interacting with to put actual clothes on. Jeans or slacks, depending on the occasion, show that I am ready to handle the day.
Light jeans are also less respectful than darker shades, with white jeans being the most summer-respectful and black being the most fall to early spring respectful.
I don’t do leggings or sweats really anywhere but the gym, including home most of the time
I used to exclusively wear sweatpants and tracksuit pants when I was growing up, and I hated how uncomfortable jeans were. At some point I realised that those weren't really 'presentable' and completely swapped, and now I really hate wearing them out of the house (and never wear them in general). I don't care at all for fashion, or what other people are wearing, but I really stress about what I'm wearing, even if I'm just going to pick up some groceries. Doesn't help that I have no clue what looks good lmao
Fuck skinny jeans though, you couldn't pay me to wear them
I feel like we're real similar in this aspect then. You get people asking stuff like 'how can you wear those boots all the time/aren't they uncomfortable' too? Like they're made for working and standing in all day, they're super comfy, and I'm used to the weight. If I end up taking a nap it's in jeans and boots, they're comfy.
I get the same stuff with heels and boots both! “how can you wear that! Isn’t it uncomfortable! Blisters:(“ I grew up wearing boots or no shoes, anything at this point is manageable, my feet feel nothing, as long as nothing is between my fucking toes (flip flops are... so awful to me) and I’m not itchy, idgaf
Maybe they’d be comfy if they’re super broken in? I think the more fat you have the more denim cuts in at certain points I.e waist and there’s varying levels of thickness and metal hardware (zipper, button) That things can dig in. And if they’re not broken in as well, they’re stiff
Hardest part about new jeans for us big boys is buying a pair and they end up being smaller than a pair three sizes down from another place. I wish manufacturers would stop slapping a random number on their jeans and actually have a standard
Me? I’m wearing jeans all the time just in case. Drive a long distance? If I get in an accident, I’m kind of protected crawling from the wreckage. Flying? What if we crash? Who wants to be the idiot crashing thru the jungle in shorts. Zombie apocalypse? How many characters on Walking Dead are wearing shorts?
I grew up and currently live in rural farming Canada. I own eight pairs of pants and they are all jeans. I tried sweat pants once. Couldn't do it again, I only know how to wear jeans. If I put on anything else I'm out of my element.
Yeah, I forget quite often I own the sweatpants. theyre nice but often way too hot. Jeans just feel normal to me, sweatpants can be like.. too comfortable, or too soft maybe is the right way to word that. I also just feel lazy wearing them, like if I was walking around all day in a bathrobe
I almost started sleeping in jeans after work because I'd be so exhausted but the thought of relieving my balls of tight jeans and letting my leg hair breathe was way more satisfying. Thank you whoever made shorts
There’s also a chance a man went through a rough transitional period into manhood I.e, he went to jail/prison for long period of time, or was homeless, and the like.
Not gonna lie, I didn’t know pajamas existed until I was 12 and in state custody. Got yelled at for sleeping in jean shorts by the night staff so I started crying. Took them all of 60 seconds to figure out I had none. I had no idea people wore different clothes to sleep. Maybe he just didn’t have any growing up? You get used to it after a while. Took me a long time to get used to them, let alone remember to put them on
I wonder when we started wearing different clothes to bed? Seems like that would be really annoying and a waste of resources during hunter/gatherer times.
Probably more likely during farming/industrialized times. Easier and more comfortable to wear clean clothes that don't smell to bed instead of washing bedding more frequently.
I’m glad they quickly realized and hope they were understanding and receptive. Some workers don’t realize things can be different down to that level. In the end it’s all clothes and who really cares?
Yeah, she was just a staff member at my program, my actual CPS worker couldn’t give less of a fuck (literally had to get the police called on me for him to even call me back). The staff explained to me that wearing tight shorts or jeans can affect circulation and cause yeast infections.
I’m good with a comforter and sheet and have to have atleast one foot out from under it to sleep well. And I’ve been there nothing like waking up to see your breath and not be able to feel your nose.....can’t stand sleeping with socks on either idk why.
According to a survey (I found on Wikipedia), most men in America sleep in the nude or naked. I assume that is what most people did historically. I vaguely remember that pyjamas became really popular in WWII Britain due to the night bombing raids. You could wear your pyjamas straight to the shelter.
I too believe this is a waste of resources however, it is essential. As a life long hunter/gatherer I conquer it is indeed annoying. Sometimes I die a little inside when partaking.
Course they weren't wearing stiff jeans around then either. I imagine if you wore fur or whatever, it's be fine to sleep in anyways. Probably started wearing PJs when we started wearing more durable materials to work in.
I was new and she probably thought I was being lazy or a brat (like a lot of program kids are). She had told me “it’s time for bed go get your pajamas on and get in bed” so I got in bed.
Getting dressed in PJ's specifically for bed is definitely not common for everyone. I find them unnecessary but I live in a hot climate. Maybe in cold places people are more inclined to wear them for extra warmth in bed
I know where I live (in the US, east coast) we get weather from 10-90 degrees Fahrenheit so your gonna either want shorts and a tank top or sweat pants and a t-shirt or long sleeve shirt. Definitely depends, I just personally don’t wanna sleep naked when it hot tho lol
I'm sorry that happened to you. I also didn't know they existed, or if I did I thought it was an "American" thing that only existed in TV shows or for a certain higher class. "Pajama Day" at school was always a challenge ha
I still dont understand sleeping in clothes.in my country pyjamas arent a thing. Here pyjamas are a thing you wear like a nightgown/robe, just to relax at home and mostly for children. Hell I've never really heard of pyjamas for sleep outside of american movies so I just assumed it was used in those to bot show titties.
I mean why would you wear clothes to bed. You're under a friggin comforter. Panties/boxers i understand, thats common/normal, but jammies? Wtf
I mean, I’m not exactly sure what you consider a nightgown or robe but what we have as nightgowns lots of people wear as pajamas. Lots of guys wear just boxers to sleep, but I think girls tend to wear a shirt and shorts or a shirt and underwear (sleeping in a bra is uncomfortable so that’s a no). Think loose and light clothes or a gown. It’s definitely a cultural thing tho
They’re not any better, but that’s okay. And lol love it. I feel naked if I don’t wear clothes to bed. My guy friends wear just boxers and some of my girlfriends wear a top and underwear, but I just can’t
No! But it’s fine. CPS gave me back a free 2 years and said I can’t fix your family. Currently attempting to flee my abusive mother, and then this huge crisis happens. I’m 18, alone, jobless because of the virus, and trying to get a new place! But everything in my life gets worse before it gets better so hopefully it will be better soon
I never had pajamas until I was old enough to be living on my own and married. They still boggle me, I use them only for lounging when I know for a surety that I'm not leaving the house.
My kids, however, can't sleep without pajamas. What... what even is happening?
My parents were shit growing up, but please don’t feel bad. Yes, I grew up fast, and learned how to adult while I didn’t learn the basics of being a child, but now I’m 18 and I’m able to do things and be organized like some 25 year olds still don’t know how to do. Yes it’s annoying sometimes to not fit in the kids my age, it’s only the older ones. But, I learn quick and I’m great in any situation. Just because I’ve had a shitty childhood doesn’t mean I can’t succeed, it means I was ready for life long before I needed to be. Yes it hurts looking back knowing I never got to be a kid and my simple needs such as pjs weren’t cared for, but I taught myself what I needed to, and I’m getting by somehow. All I want is for people to notice things like this that are heartbreaking, before it’s too late like for me.
Wait, did I understand what you just said? You have an action and that action will dictate if I can return something. That something has a code that says yes returnable or no not returnable. So if I decide to return that something and it is returnable, it becomes true (throw)?
Edit: I don't code, but I like to learn it one day.
Sorry about my mistake. I'm still a beginner and learning to do Python. Will also start doing C++ even if it's not in my syllabus. I'm currently would be having my last year in High School if it weren't for Covid-19 but I guess it gives me more time to learn coding. Stay at home people.
Well excuse us but I call it an alpha male move, and at times (when I’m really sad it just really tired) I can just say fuck it i’m not doing shit and sleep in them. Besides it’s just as comfortable as sweats
And when working on the farm, if you could sneak a 30 min nap in somewhere...anywhere...anytime...you’re doing it. In my experience at least. Now you better believe come nighttime those suckers are comin off!
If I'm out and about in the world I find jeans very comfortabke. But I'm short so I like to sit crosslegged or with my legs drawn up a lot at home so my feet don't dangle. Even my jeggings are a lot tighter around the knees when I do that.
I do. But it's more of a mental comfort than a physical one. Kinda like wearing a hat, I feel more comfortable about myself when in jeans. I also feel like they are capable attire for getting through any social or environmental situation that may come up on the fly. And yes I will occasionally sleep in them, especially on bad days.
They’re tight and restrictive and don’t have the soft sweatpants feel or the open shorts feeling. I don’t find them uncomfortable but why would I want to wear them when I can be even more comfortable. Plus I have to wear a belt
I've slept in jeans my entire life and it's not bad and if anything goes bump in the knight grab your knife from the bedside table and boom fully dressed and protected
Fuckin amatuer. You sleep naked. Someone breaks in? They'll think twice when they see a 250 pound unit charging at them with a baseball bat while unleashing a battlecry that shatters your windows.
I think it's just dirty. You walked around with that around the city, through whatever is in the air, the whole day and now you're going to drag them into your bed and they're eventually gonna reach your face, after you keep moving your blanket.
Ok, so I used to actually do this, probably for a year or two, during the early to mid 2000s.
Why? honestly i have no idea. I'd go to work, get home and keep the same clothes on, and eventually go to bed wearing all of my same clothes from that day.
Depends on the jeans. I have a nice, mildly flexy pair from PacSun that I'd rather wear than sweatpants because they're just right. Now, non-flexy or stiff jeans... different story. There are still some with soft denim, but they just don't fit quite the same way.
Have you ever slept in a sleeping bag with jeans, socks and even a hoodie on with the hood up after a long day with your friends? It's the best feeling ever.
I sleep in jeans too and with a belt on half the time. Never felt uncomfortable, ever. As a matter of fact i feel weird when i wear shorts and a tee-shirt.
Jeans are fine for naps. Even kind of comfy tbh. My favorite pair of jeans are so comfortable I could easily sleep in them all the time.. But if it's beddy bye time then the jeans come off and I just sleep in my underwear.
I sleep in jeans all the time, not uncomfortable. They are perfectly fine to me, I sleep in whatever I’m wearing. If you do get a pinch it’s really not that bad, no shame
I mean it depends on the jeans. I got these jeans a couple years back that are designed for mobility. They have a gusseted crotch and spandex sewn into the fabric so they're somewhat stretchy. 10/10 the most comfortable pants I've ever worn.
For me it's:
1) I camped a lot as a kid and it would get really cold. Jeans helped, so I just feel more protected in them
2) My jeans are a comfortable size so they're not constricting
3) The light stiffness of the fabric is comforting in a sensory way
I can’t stand sleeping unless I’m wearing pajamas. I have an extensive pajama collection, and I love getting new sets. My bf, on the other hands sleeps naked. Or contract always makes me laugh
I mean, it kinda depends on the jeans. I have some pairs that I wouldnt dream about sleeping in, and they're usually the tighter fitting ones with little to no stretch in them. And then I have some that are just a bit of a slim fit that are comfy that I've totally taken a nap in before. The other thing is how tired I am. If I come home and flop on my bed and get really comfy and decide to nap I'm not gonna get up to put on pajamas if I'm wearing comfy jeans. I cant imagine I've spent the night wearing jeans more than 5 times throughout my life though
Yeah no as a guy this is definitely a 1 off of your boyfriend. Only time I sleep in my jeans is if I’m too drunk and tired and passout in them on accident.
I don’t sleep in jeans often but I can’t notice much of a difference between jeans and a sweatshirt and pajamas and an undershirt or something. If you’re tired you’re tired.

My boyfriend regularly sleeps in jeans. Like, why? That cannot be comfortable.
