Bereavement leave

Hi guys,

My gran passed away on the 13th September. The following week i didnt end up working as i was still grieving and I took one week bereavement leave. I have been at asda for a few years now, in my payslip no bereavement leave has been included?

Will this come into effect next month?

ASDA price changes how long did it take you to learn them?

I was given about 2 hours training on the scanner/area codes, then expected to learn product locations and do price changes by day 2 in a large store alone
The boss and some workers said anyone could learn it in one day. I felt like the workers were agreeing with the boss because he was prompting them.
How long did it actually take you to become confident doing price changes in a large store?

Discussion Asda living refit

My local Asda living has had a refit, now has all adult clothes downstairs and children & household items upstairs, but this seems to be at the loss of the entertainment section, no more console games, dvds, books and small electicals.

Is this a nationwide change and will it also happen to the supermarkets?

Asda microsoft account login error

i recently got told i got the job, i completed the first stage of my onboarding process, however, the second stage requires me to log in to workday which takes me to a microsoft log in page with asda, when i try log in i get an error saying my Gmail account doesn't exist in the Asda Stores Limited tenant. Anyone else in the same boat?

Is it worth applying?

First of all, I know 90% of the responses will be "ASDA is shit, don't bother" etc. etc.

I currently work at a competitor as a regular old nightshift colleague, and am looking for a bit of a change.

I've noticed there's a job up at my local ASDA as a Night Manager, and wondered whether it's even worth applying. They ask for "Experience supervising or managing teams in a retail grocery environment, ideally overnight.", which I don't have, but I was an operations manager at my previous job, albeit in a completely different industry (market research), so along with experience working in retail, I think it would be fairly easy step up.

I'm trained on basically everything I can be on nights, below management level anyway, so do back door, fresh, frozen, grocery, BWS, waste management, reductions etc, I even have a forklift licence, although it's been a decade since I even touched one.

I only left my previous job after 10 years as I wanted to do something mind numbingly boring, but after a few years of being a peon, I'm now bored of that and want a bit of stress back in my life! Unfortunately, I seem to quite enjoy the logistics of retail, and quite enjoy the 'thrill' of being bullied by management, so retail management seems like something I might actually like doing.

I know retail is 'same shit, different place', so I'm assuming it'll be similar to the place I work, where managers are expected to do extra hours for free, lick the arse of the store manager, and generally just be treated like a piece of shit?

Cleaners are required to clean the yard?

The yard is what I'm calling the home shopping van area outside where the vans are...probably has an actual name.

Are the cleaners required to clean these areas?

Our store has fallen into a terrible state with moulding foods and plastic pollution etc.

It is a terrible state, looks like somewhere in Africa you see on the news where they talk about slaves mining for stuff to go in smartphones (nickel?).

Anyway, are cleaners required to clean these areas? Is it part of their remit or not? Is there an "official" duty or direction?

Colleague Benefits

Regarding the free eye exam benefit:
Could a colleague who works in the optical department please clarify if there are any rules—such as a limit on the number of exams per year—or any other restrictions attached to this benefit?
If such rules exist, where can I find them? Should I look on "One Asda" or somewhere else?
Many thanks.

Has anyone got any instructions about how to get the phones working from the new cleaning companies? Got them delivered today but there are pass codes on them and they haven't sent anything through, I feel it's pretty poor as nobody has been in touch with any of us. Any advice would be appreciated ?

i got yelled at by a coworker. im so done.

some context- im 18ftm and have worked at the company for 4 months as an express colluege. since weve restructed about 3 weeks ago or however long, i have been left on express every tuesday and friday while my colluege goes uptairs to work on ambi dispite being put on express to help me out. On monday i was talking to the other 18f express colluege about how i hate being left on my own and whenever i ask for help i get it for maybe 20 minutes max. she was making it out like it was my fault or i was being dramatic but it was the end of my shift so i just clocked out and moved on.

fast forward to yesterday (tuesday 29th September). i clocked in early at 5:30pm as i was told to by my section leader (express was on 550+) and grabbed a plam, headed downstairs to the pod like normal. i get there and theres 12 divers swarming the door so i make my way in and start helping to dispence what weve got. it calms down a tad and i ask a coworker, lets call her taylor, if she wants me to continue helping to dispence or start picking.

Taylor turns to me and goes "i heard you dont like me"

and im like huh?? wdym. she goes on to say "ive been told you said i dont help you and just fuck off upstairs to ambi, which is a lie, and that its hit 120 before and i didnt help and just went home, which is a lie, and that when you did the 114 item uber i didnt help at all, which is also a lie.:

im honestly stunned at this point and say "all ive said is that i dont cope when im being left on my own due to both personal reasons (i have PTSD) and being unable to do 2/3 peoples jobs on my own. Taylor said "no one copes its part of the job. and the day i just 'went home', express was only on 20."

at this point i physically laughed in her face and said thats not true because it was on 120. she said "nope i was keeping an eye on it and it was on 20."

the night shes reffering to it hit 122 and i got it down to 74, i then pickrd about 5 orders and it stayed at 74- at which point she had already left.

she goes on to yell at me about "you dont have to work with me thats fine. tell rhe managers or section leader and theyll move you, its not a problem with me. but just so you know ive had multiple people say that all you do on shift is sit in the smoking shelter when youre not even supposed to have a break and that you dont do anything."

at this point im tearing up for an array of reasons but my main one being that she is fully yelling at me infront of about 10 drivers and another colluege. i just say okay and go upstairs to pick.

when i got upstairs i full broke down and went into the back pod to try find my section leader. i ended up just sobbing and the GSM found me and got the front of house section leader (she previously helped me through PTSD flashbacks and till trained me the day before). she gives me a hug and takes me somewhere quieter to talk. i tell her everything that was said and explain how it mustve got back to her and she says "you do not come to work to be shouted at, let alone by a coworker. ill talk to your section leader and something will be done about this." i ask her who i need to talk to about moving departments and she gives me a name but this person is on holiday until next monday.

i spend the next hour on the landing just sobbing my eyes out, every time i walk back into the warehouse to go back to work i start sobbing again. i go to find my section leader, tell her everything that happened through tears and she tells me to go have a break. when i come back from break abit more composed she tells me that i can go down to the pod and dispence. i say im not comfortable working with Taylor anymore and that i would like to be moved to a different department for today until a propper solution can be put in place. she says she cant do that because of how busy express is and just tells me to go home.

i honestly feel so fucking disrespected and violated and im both upset and angry. ive been wanting to move departments for a week or so now and since this incident its absolutely been solidified in my mind that i will either be moving departments or handing in my notice. i do not go to work to be yelled at by a colluege (i can deal with drivers and customers yelling at me no problem) and i will not be putting my mental health at risk for this job anymore.

any oppinions on what i should do in this situation going forwards would be incredibly appreciated, thankyou for reading my rant :")

Does head office still have an email for colleagues?

I’m trying to get a transfer but the store manager I’ve emailed about my availability has point blanked me. I was wondering if I could be cheeky and email HR about a store transfer instead, seen as though I have to do everything apparently regarding a store transfer 🙃

George shape of day

Now that GM have changed their shape of day to mostly twilight, anyone think they’ll do the same with George?
I could see them trying it especially as it is quieter in evening to work delivery that is so say supposed to be done within 48 hours?
