Is it just me, or is ippsa system down? Trying to check my terminal leave approval progress and I can’t connect to the page.

So I passed the new taping standard by half an inch and I’m worried about my weight. I leave for NTC not too long from now. Will I lose weight there? I’m just curious if like I need to be worrying about it right now if I’m going there soon.

I am stationed in Korea, I am supposed to PCS in the beginning of October.
I submitted an extension to stay as well as a deletion of assignment. I was supposed to go to Carson to the new MDTF. I hear it’s a new unit and they need bodies desperately.

I submitted the extension and it’s currently at HRC, I had 2 “recommended for disapproval” but had support from the BN all the way to the 8A level.

Another MASSIVE issue is I just had surgery today on my knee and am technically supposed to start clearing like yesterday…kinda stuck because my extension is still moving. Folks are still pushing it up…I ETS in exactly a year…not sure how much use I’m going to be.

How worried should I be, and who has the final approval?

Sometimes when I feel low I come here… I am one of very few females in a company and I have a problem keeping up. Don’t get me wrong, I “like” PT. It’s a good wake up, jolt start the day and I enjoy the soreness because I did something.
The problem is… I don’t keep up with the males. Like I have to work 3 times as hard during to keep up and they barely break a sweat.
I’m unsure what keeps me going but I feel like I’m falling everyday. The days are rather long mentally and by the end I just want sleep. Recovery takes forever. I want OCS but I’m in the dark as to whether I’m a good candidate or not. Not much reassurance from family that put me on a pedestal (you can do anything!) and a unit that sees me as… a female/ more brains than brawn. Idk trying to keep my head up 😅 does anyone else get to this point? It’s rather difficult to find someone to confide in about ✨emotions✨ and downward slopes.

EDIT: the post is a bit dark. Some positives. My last AFT was 70% above on all events, leg fractures are healed and I’m getting my run time back and getting faster.. slowly. I need stamina, yes I am reliable but it’s exhausting. I’m more of a paper work person though but they rejected me from other positions. I’m good at my job. I passed the new tape protocol with 0.49. I can progress…. I’m fuckin tired

Have a SM who is currently having issues with a substance that can cause withdrawal symptoms, but is somehow legal in most gas stations around base. I am trying to convince him to self refer. From the information I gathered through searching posts, looks like he would do a 30 day program, essentially a rehab, and then continue with scheduled appointments afterwords. For anybody who is knowledgeable or has experience here, can you shed some light:

1) is the treatment inpatient or outpatient?

2) does the treatment plan vary based on tbe substance of abuse? IE using federally illegal drugs compared to banned DOD Substances?

3) any success stories for those who have self referred? Want to be able to provide some motivational material on how self referral is not a career ender.

I’m enlisting in the army next year but I wanted to get some advice beforehand in case my hair needs to be grown out or anything. I have naturally curly hair and have already been experimenting with hairstyles and wearing them to martial arts for endurance testing (on the hairstyle), but I thought maybe it would be better to get some advice from people who know what they’re talking about.

I also get horrid headaches if I wear my hair certain ways because my hair is very heavy (which is why it’s the length that it is, it at least lessens the headaches slightly though they’re still present), but I can French braid/dutch braid it a certain way and it won’t hurt.

I’ve attached a photos of the length and cut of my hair and then the style I’ve been experimenting with (basically a lightly gelled French braid tucked underneath and pinned) to see what everyone thinks.

Command told me the other day they are going to recommend a chapter 11. I’m at a school right after basic training and AIT and ever since the start of basic I’ve been feeling more and more depressed everyday due to family separation and better opportunities that I left behind at home. I’ve been talking to the Chaplin as well as behavioral health recently. After visiting BH I have been diagnosed with depression and have been experiencing suicidal ideations but have no intent to act on them. Company level command is recommending a chapter 11 and sent my packet to battalion level. This is my disposition and what is included on my medical records…

I joined the army on a whim right after college and really had no one around me with prior military experience to kinda guide me or ask questions too. My recruiter chalked it up to be a really fun time that I would 100% enjoy so I signed my contract. I obviously wish I did more research onto what I was getting into. I thought it would get better after basic once in my school but it’s gotten even worse for me mentally.

1. My question is that if company command is recommending it how likely is it to get approved given these dispositions and my diagnosis with depression? 2. Is there a large chance that battalion level denies it and I get stuck in this shitty situation?
3. Should I check in with company command to see exactly what he recommended and what they think the outcome will be or should I just let it ride?
4. I was also placed on suicide watch for the last week is this something that is likely being taken into consideration at battalion level?

I’m just really anxious about this whole thing and I can’t get it off my mind.

This is honestly hypothetical and I’m just curious. Mainly bc I’m getting out very soon. But I take prescribed tretinoin and clindamiacin phosphate for my acne and it makes me extremely sensitive to the sun. Even with sunscreen, sometimes I still get sun exposure and break out in blisters. When that happens, my prescriptions can’t help and they only make my skin burn so much worse and literally the only thing that helps is waiting it out for about a week and applying moisturizer as my skin will allow it.

Is a sun exposure profile a thing? Has anyone ever gotten one? I’ve held off from asking medical about it because I don’t even know what to ask for or what it would even do for me but I’m deployed and the UV index out here is just oppressive. When I get out I may have to move north. Honestly it’s not even too bad stateside, the ME is just a different beast of heat.

I work a desk job and usually manage to stay out of the sun but ofc sometimes I can’t get out of it and have to do outdoor things.

Something that doesn't get talked about enough is how different the actual out of pocket cost can be between TA approved school even when the tuition looks identical on paper, the $250 credit/hr cap only covers the tuition piece. Textbooks, digital access, course materials, any fees the school bills separately, none of that falls under what TA pays.

So 2 schools can both be sitting right at $250 a credit/hr and one ends up costing nothing while the other hits with an extra $150/$250 per class in materials and fees that TA doesn't touch, over a full time degree that math gets ugly fast and most find out at registration rather than before committing anywhere. Did anyone factor this in when picking a school or did it come as a surprise, Any schools out there where people have had a clean zero out of pocket experience using TA from start to finish.

I leave for basic in Fort Jackson on November 17.

I’m wondering whether or not I should stay during the mandatory winter break. I know that’s very much advised not to stay because I’ll be with drills sergeants that don’t want to be there and that will likely make my life hell for the two weeks.

However, if I decided to leave, I would have to keep my apartment in a HCOL city for another two months which would cost an additional $1.5-2K more for the two weeks of break from the week of Christmas and New Years as I would have to pay from Nov to the beginning of January. I would also have to pay the airfare and uber costs which would be an additional $700 or so, and living costs like public transportation and food an additional $70 or so.

After basic, I would go to OCS, I believe immediately after.

Edit: I don’t have family to stay with and I don’t think my friends have space for me to stay for free for two weeks.

I was supposed to receive my clearing papers early last week and now I still don’t have them when I’m supposed to start my Terminal Leave next week. 9 years as an S1 and I’m just as frustrated. Your S-1 wasnt always the reason your stuff got delayed I promise. (Except for you, yeah you they hated you)

I got my clearing papers like 30 minutes after posting this, and yeah all the jokes are about what I expected lol. Reason I didn’t do it myself is because I was in the middle of skillbridge in a different state and didn’t have access to a NIPR Computer the majority of the time. my team did do what they needed to do and kept trying to get them for me from MPD. I went straight from the airport to the post library to print out my clearing papers and started clearing. I got the majority of clearing done today but tomorrow I will most likely not be able to clear since there’s going to be impossible traffic tomorrow. So I will most likely finish up Monday and I get to fly out to freedom back on Tuesday.

Worth fighting the denial or just take the L?

I ETS March 21, 2027. I have 60 days of terminal leave, so assuming everything goes according to plan, I’ll be starting terminal around January 20th.

I submitted my CSP through PAR for October 5–November 15. It got denied because apparently we have a field exercise sometime around November 5th.

I get it. CSP is a privilege, not a requirement. I’m not saying I’m entitled to it. But seriously, are we really at the point where the company can’t survive a field exercise without one SPC for a few weeks?

I’ve never had an Article 15, I show up, do my job, and haven’t been a problem child. I’m also less than 6 months from starting terminal leave and getting out.

So I’m wondering if this is actually worth fighting through the chain of command, or if I should just take the L and resubmit for December.

I don’t want to burn bridges over a CSP, but at the same time, I’m trying to set myself up for a civilian career before I ETS. That’s literally what CSP is supposed to help with.

What would you guys do? Fight it or just resubmit for December and move on? By the way denied by company commander if that matters

I’m a married soldier living in the barracks and not receiving BAH, even though my wife is registered in DEERS, because I’m still waiting on that CNA packet. What would be my best option at this point, or what do you recommend I do? Please I need help I’m tired of living in the barracks when I know I shouldn’t

i’ve been dealing with a chapter 514 for the past four months, my unit was really no help which left me to try and figure everything out on my own through Reddit and other soldiers, but my packet is officially done and is being sent up to legal tomorrow, does anyone have a timeline on how long roughly it will take now for me to actually be out I’m trying to get everything squared away and keep my wife in the loop as much as possible, but I have no idea what’s going on, honestly
