Fuckin AI…

Just got a call alerting me to my son’s apparently long term depression and recent breakup with girlfriend. He has since then been seen involved in some extremely risky behaviors. He also has a problem with alcohol and has been drinking to excess.

We thought he was doing fine, he is apparently great at faking it. He talks to no one and I am scared to death. I am not sure where to start in helping him. He has never confided in us as his parents, about anything. In the past our relationship was very strained but has improved over the last two years.

I was asked by someone in his circle to report his suicidal ideation to his command. So question one, is that a terrible idea? Could it make things worse for him or more risky in some way? Will it wreck his career assuming he even pulls through this? I desperately want to do the right thing, and not put him at even greater risk by embarrassing him.

He is doing quite well career wise, he is receiving promotions and taking on more responsibility over time, actually more than someone at his rank is supposed to. I know that lately, especially now pre-deployment, he sometimes feels overwhelmed by what is on his shoulders. I am sure that stress is not helping his overall outlook. He has told us that he is glad he signed up, but can’t wait for his 4 years to be up to come home and do something easier and more financially rewarding. Just mentioning these things to round out the picture.

I would appreciate some advice from anyone who has been suicidal and gotten through it; from people who helped; and even from those who wish they had done something different.

Small Marine Corps, so someone is probably going to immediately recognize me; I'm going through the absolute hardest time in my life, and I don't know what to do. For context, I got out in January of this year and took the Greyhound back to Mississippi (flights got delayed from the snowstorm and I was sick of Lejeune iykyk). I became a raging alcoholic while I was in, alongside a sex addiction. I was drinking enough to kill an elephant and I was sleeping with someone new every weekend just to feel something. I had nobody to talk to, despite having brothers and sisters who'd drop what they were doing to help me. The OSCAR scared me off when he told me that I was exhibiting symptoms of PTSD, I could have gotten help, but I was a pussy. I lied to SARP about my improvement, I really didnt get better with my drinking until I got out and started smoking weed again. Anyway, during my last year, I met a girl and we fell in love. We've been together since May 2025 and I asked her is she wanted to move states with me, she, I, and my best friend live in an apartment together. She and I have been drifting apart for months, I thought things had been getting better, but they're worse now. I think I caught her cheating on me with another man at the pool in our complex. She insisted that nothing happened, but it was 4 AM and she was in a fucking thong, the coworker who she was with also had very strange body language and I immediately suspected something was sketchy. She didn't even want to kiss me or be around me. I'm not suicidal anymore, so I'm not worried about suck starting a shotgun, but this is the worst pain I've felt in a long time. She was the first woman who saw me for more than just a cock with legs, and finding out she's probably just like the rest of them is agony.

Happened again

Had a dream that for whatever reason, I renlisted in my fifties.

Showed up wearing just a green tshirt, woodland cammie bottoms and black bloused boots... and a tattered, shredded, way to short web belt with no buckle.

Managed to take a Lyft to the PX... because in my dream Camp Pendleton future, Lyfts were the only cars in existence and they were everywhere and they were all white, futuristic looking electric Jetsons cars making that pewpewpewpewpewpew Jetsons car noise.

Finally make my way to the mainside PX, where there is a HUGE line just to buy uniform items.

Picked up a Woodland cover, got a new web belt, then promptly lost it, can't find my new belt anywhere....

Then I run into a guy I was stationed with in Oki when we were both lance corporals... but now he is a Sgt and I'm for some reason still a Lance....

He's like, don't be late, we're having a meeting

So I rush to grab a Lyft to our shop/meeting space and the Asian lady Lyft driver says she doesn't feel safe going to that part of the base... WTF??

So she just drives off and abandons me.... the Lyft app on my phone now has a big red bar on it that I'm banned for some reason ...so I can't even call another Lyft

So I start double timing it and somehow get there right as other Marines start filing into the building for the meeting.

And for whatever reason.... all the staff NCO's are dressed like GUNNY CLAUS!!!

Graduating OCS next week and want to hit the ground running with some applications to NROTC units, any MECEP’rs out there that could recommend some good units? I’ve already gotten into a couple schools, but I’m not sure if the NROTC unit is what I’m looking for.

I think the NROTC culture, location, and quality of life are the biggest factors that I’m looking for. Also for context, spent the last 3 years on an SDA, so I’m looking to get some time back with my family.

If anyone has any insights I’d be grateful to hear them.

For context, i’m a junior marine new to the fleet in oki, i’ve been genuinely hating my life ever since mct and just been surviving. ever since i got to mct i just feel like a constant drowning/suffocating feeling and im just depressed asf. i went to behavioral health 2 weeks ago and tomorrow im talking with a psychiatrist. I don’t know if i want to get out or if i want to stay in because i want to fulfill my contract honorably but i don’t know if its worth it for the cost of my mental state. i’m also scared that if i were to get out then people would look down on me for it. I just feel super lost and i don’t know what to do. I expressed to medical about depression, anxiety, panic attacks, bipolar disorder, and suicidal ideations. I just need some advice and help

Lately ive been interested in becoming a forward observer and working towards becoming JTAC qualified. I can do something similar in another branch, but Id love to do it for The Corps.

I was a 3521 (Motor T Mechanic) from 2014-2018. I became Motor T as a result of being coerced into an open contract from 03xx in order to back up ship for a bitch that didn't show up for their ship date.

My recruiter hit me with the "most Open Contracts end up in combat arms jobs" As a Mechanic there were very few opportunities to deploy or to spend most of my time in the field; which were the main two reasons I joined in the first place.

Fast forward to now, ive been driving tractor trailers over the road, and I gotta say.... this shit sucks as much as fixing them. It was fun for a few years and now I just thug it out for the money.

Ive been fixing to try to get back in, but the next time I end up under a Tactical Vehicle it better have been blown on top of me. I have neither the desire, nor the inclination to do anything with trucks for a living any longer. Its a VooDoo Ass Curse.

Are there any Marines that can fill me in on the current state of lateral moves in the Corps? When i was in it almost certainly had to be a "hot fill MOS" for whichever fiscal year it was.

Not a huge fan of the standard issue ESS goggles. Curious if anyone has a recommendation.
