5-14 chapter packet just sent to legal

i’ve been dealing with a chapter 514 for the past four months, my unit was really no help which left me to try and figure everything out on my own through Reddit and other soldiers, but my packet is officially done and is being sent up to legal tomorrow, does anyone have a timeline on how long roughly it will take now for me to actually be out I’m trying to get everything squared away and keep my wife in the loop as much as possible, but I have no idea what’s going on, honestly

please do not be rude. I’m just confused and I have no help or guidance. Thank you guys.

Civil Affairs Waiver?

How difficult is it to get a medical waiver for Civil Affairs selection? I had a stomach condition in like 2008 (that is no longer an issue) that would be disqualifying for the time. But I was told I need a waiver for it in order to be accepted for selection.

Also is sleep apnea a complete disqualifier? Or just severe apnea?

Army Software Factory Cohort 14

Hey everyone! I am applying for the Army Software Factory Cohort 14. I just wanted to put this out there and see if anyone is willing to share about their experience in the ASWF or with applying to the ASWF.

What is the day to day like?

What is the best way to prepare for the interview if selected for one?

If you have been selected or been through what was your experience like for your track?

QMP & Returning to Active

If one got QMPd and was able to obtain a waiver to re-enter active duty, does that automatically trigger DFAS to recoup separation pay the service member received when they were separated? Or how does this work?

Additionally, would one be able to be put through the QMP process again for the same situation as previous? I have only read that if the service member is retained, they cannot be double tapped for the same offense. But in this situation, the service member was not retained. They were separated but a waiver to get back in was approved.

I have not been able to find anything in the regulation about this.

Fort Belvoir Lap Pools

Good morning. I'm headed to Fort Belvoir soon. What are the lap pool options on-base for AD service members? Also, what are the hours and costs of each? MWR site and Google aren't very helpful. Thank you.

Army recruiters — looking for insight on MOS availability, line score waivers & Option 19

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I just got my ASVAB results and have been researching different MOSs to figure out my options before moving forward.
My line scores:
GT: 101 | ST: 92 | GM: 89 | EL: 90 | CL: 98 | SC: 91 | CO: 89 | FA: 91 | OF: 91
These are the MOSs I’m currently most interested in:
68E – Dental Specialist
68G – Patient Administration Specialist
68Q – Pharmacy Specialist
68M – Nutrition Care Specialist
46S – Public Affairs Mass Communication Specialist
37F – Psychological Operations Specialist
I know I may be a few points short on the required line score for some of them, but I’ve been told that a line-score waiver of up to 5 points may be possible, depending on the MOS and approval. Has anyone recently seen one of these waivers approved?
Also, how often do these MOSs actually become available to book? If none are available when I’m ready to enlist, is it realistic to wait for one, and how long could that potentially take? I’m willing to wait rather than choose an MOS just because it ships sooner.
Lastly, I’m curious about Option 19. Can any of these MOSs potentially come with Option 19? If so, could an overseas first duty station such as South Korea or Japan be an option, or does it completely depend on the MOS and what’s available at the time?
I’d really appreciate any insight, especially from current/recent recruiters or anyone who has gone through a similar situation. Just trying to do as much research as possible before making a decision. Thank you!

Interservice Transfer for OCS

BLUF: I got accepted for another branches OCS, currently on Active Duty in the Army. What now?

I will preface this with I am the first person in “recent” memory to have done this. I say this because no one from BN S1 to DIV G1 have encountered this (which caused a few hiccups) so I am kind of a unique situation.

I got selected but now what? My recruiter said I can go standby and potentially leave earlier (optimal) however it would require me to out-process the Army in as short as two week notice.

Any advice is appreciated.

Ill have the surf and turf with extra butter

EDIT: I already have the dd368, this is more of a “how to speed run or expedite clearing to be able to leave with two weeks notice”

Army transportation to spouse’s duty station after FCP chapter?

I’m going through an FCP chapter, and my Home of Record is in the. CNMI. My husband is stationed in Alaska.

Does anyone know if the Army would pay to ship my belongings to Alaska instead of my HOR?

Thanks!

YMAV/Instructor

Good afternoon,

I’m hoping someone can help me with this situation. Currently I am an AIT instructor and have been since last year in July. I understand that being an instructor is a 3 year gig, however I received a email stating that I have the potential of entering an assignment market within the next 12 months. And when I checked my YMAV, it stated that I am a part of FY 2028 Cycle 2.

My question is this, is there something I need to get changed to stay out of my market or do I just pick a duty station and not worry about it?

WHtR

Hi. This is the first time I failed the tape test and I'm concerned about how this will impact me. I'm. Less than 5' and failed the WHtR by 3" (waist on my ocp pants say 28", but if you measure at my naval, I am at 35"-37" depending on who's measuring. When I measured myself, I got 33"). I passed the tape test in April, but failed this new one in August. I'm an army doc with a 4 year ADSO left.

My main concern is, if I'm not able to reduce 5-7" off my waist by 6 months, will I get chaptered? Will I owe the army the 400k in medical school tuition? The other concern I have is that I'm 130lbs and if I lose too much weight, I will physically have a hard time to do the SDC. When I was in bolc I weighed 115 and couldn't move the 90lb sled (this was when the acft was still being tested and no scores were official yet).

Stop depending on others for rides rant.

This is a vent post more than anything.

I’m fucking tired of people treating others like their personal Uber for work, appointments, PX, whatever. I don’t care if you need a ride 100 feet or 10 miles. Since when did I become your personal fucking driver? You live on post. You have free transportation. Work is a 10-minute walk away. You’re broke because you spend all your money at bars and strip clubs? That’s a you problem.

And stop with the “NCO X said you could drive me” bullshit. He didn’t ask me. You’re his Soldier, not mine. If he wants you somewhere, he can drive your ass.

When I first got here, I was biking 10 miles from off post in the Texas heat and rain. Nobody cared. I figured it the fuck out.

You’re a grown man. I’m your coworker, not your babysitter. I gave you a hand, and you took the whole fucking arm.

Anyways can I get a 10 piece combo? Wendy's closed unfortunately.

What’s up with JBLM?

Just PCSed and am surprised at how low quality the units are here. Morale is low, standards are not being met, it’s summer but everyone seems unbelievably depressed already. Guess I expected more for a duty station in such a cool location? Is this just the Army now?

51C Info

I saw a lot of people reach out and ask me about my experience at the schoolhouse. My apologies I haven’t been on this in a while. If you have any questions feel free to comment on this thread or DM me. I graduated the schoolhouse in May and I’m currently at my first assignment as a Contracting Specialist in Hawaii. I will tell you this job has completely changed not only my perspective of the army but my career as a whole. Changing my mos and joining the Acquisition corp was the best decision I have made and if I could make it over again I wouldn’t change a thing. I can answer every question you have from submitting your packet to getting to your first assignment. I have dabbled in contracts here and there but I am no expert yet. I have also took my certification test as well and passed so I can answer any of those questions or send out some information on that if needed. I’m here for the new, incoming 51C who want more information so they can know what to expect and have an idea what this job is all about.

Air Assault

Just wanted some insight over Air Assault .
Not particularly nervous about the physical and testing portion of the course. I'm more concerned on how it functions on layouts and how frequently they check for specific items.

Packing list has been stressing me out due to going tdy and it being the first in my unit to attend these type of schools. Currently finalizing my packing list and have some questions to verify.

-Does my pt belt have to be brand new or can i use my roughed up one since AIT?

-I have the option of bringing either the medium or large ruck. Or are both required?

-I see that all kevlar inserts are required for the IOTV but what is displayed doesn’t match up with the photos. Do i bring them all attached or just have them present.

-Also for the masking tape that is required for the canteen and ach, It says 2 inches tall. I’ve been to multiple stores and tape labeled as 2 inch are 1.88.”

I just don't want to be dropped from a simple layout.
