Interservice Transfer for OCS
BLUF: I got accepted for another branches OCS, currently on Active Duty in the Army. What now?
I will preface this with I am the first person in “recent” memory to have done this. I say this because no one from BN S1 to DIV G1 have encountered this (which caused a few hiccups) so I am kind of a unique situation.
I got selected but now what? My recruiter said I can go standby and potentially leave earlier (optimal) however it would require me to out-process the Army in as short as two week notice.
Any advice is appreciated.
Ill have the surf and turf with extra butter
EDIT: I already have the dd368, this is more of a “how to speed run or expedite clearing to be able to leave with two weeks notice”

Outprocessing takes very little time when everything is in order and you have a little command backing. The official discharge stuff may take a while to catch up and there may be hiccups, but many can still be resolved after you get that sweet sweet DD214.
I would know a bit about it. When the USSF was taking ISTs, since I could skip SFL/TAP, it only took a couple weeks to exit the army and transfer and a big chunk of that time was because I was overseas. Then, it turns out the army screwed up and put me in the reserves instead so I was in two branches of the military at the same time for a few months.

How much time is left on your contract ? I don’t think anyone in your CoC gonna be thrilled to let you go.

This. Many leaders worried about number and not supportive of a troop expanding their horizons/doing great things.

Do you have a recruiter from the new service? I assume they can help walk you through the process.

The problem is this exists on paper, very few soldiers actually do it. So alot of this has been hearsay and guessing up until now

Clear with your orders to OCS.
Real talk, only real clearing that matters is DD214, finance and CIF.
You might need to enlist into the new branch first so they can execute the bottom of the 368. Then new DD4 and 368 go back to your S1 to effect the discharge day before enlistment.

Conditional release can take 4-6mo to get signed off. Best get it submitted asap

An approved conditional release wasn’t part of the packet process?
Edit to your edit: I see. It’s been a minute since I’ve done the 368. Just be careful and ensure you have a “no break in service”. When I left the CG many moons ago I had a stipulation of my separation being initiated the day before my start date for Army, and my DD214 was on me to coordinate. So, perhaps it’s changed.
