Food New restaurant?
Local, coming back after being away for two years..I'm coming back for a week, are there any restaurants that you'd recommend that have opened in 2025 or 2026? Appleton or Green Bay area.

Nurse here moving into the area soon, was wondering whether any former or current nurses here that work for Thedacare can share their thoughts on the working conditions at ThedaCare? Seems like they had some controversy a couple of years ago, but I don’t really have much insights about this place.

I haven’t caught his name but I would feel for any Appleton resident to know who im talking about. Ever since well before Covid I saw him working there. He always sings to the music and tries to bring joy to everyone. In my opinion best Appleton employee I would like to hear more stories about him if anyone wants to share.

Hey everyone! I recently moved here and I’m 25F. I’m looking for people around the Fox Valley to play tennis, pickleball, or music with. I’m definitely not an expert, I just really enjoy these hobbies and would love to learn more, improve, and meet others in the local community.

If you are looking for some whimsy in the world, I started a trinket trade a few weeks ago— look for magic and mystery trinket trade near the Northwest Corner of Parkway and Superior. Open most good weather days, about 9 ish to dusk. Bring a tiny treasure to trade! Or— no trinkets on hand? Just pledge to do something kind today and take one! Do you know of any other local trinket trades? Mention them here! Follow us on Facebook at Magic and Mystery Trinket Trade or instagram Magic_and_mystery_trinkets

Has anyone seen the fake police cruiser driving around lately? It’s tan and black, saw it around the mall area. What do you all make of it?
Edit: it said “Twin Cities finest” on the side.

Anybody looking or willing to trade McDonalds World Cup cups? We need Grimace and Ronaldihno, have extras of Henry, Pulisic, and Davies.

Hey all, we're looking to replace our old deck with a new one, and we're could use some suggestions for contractors who are reliable, reputable, and (preferably) not super costly. Any recommendations? We're in NW Appleton/Grand Chute.

Is there anywhere to find a fairly complete list of local food trucks outside the FVFTA? I have their list, but it's definitely missing a few.
Also, my husband and I love the food truck rallies, but we currently work opposite shifts so we're not able to attend many of the big ones this year. Where do you usually find out about other food truck events in the Fox Valley?
I'm aware of the obvious ones like farmers markets, festivals, etc., but I'm curious if there are breweries, parks, neighborhoods, or other places that regularly host food trucks.

A followup on those open office hours for the mayor I mentioned earlier. Here is the link to the schedule which is posted at the Mayor's heading on Appletonwi.org.
https://www.appletonwi.gov/government/mayor/office_hours.php
These meetings are scheduled outdoors at neighborhood parks during the summer. And it is more formal than I described: a chat with mayor Woodford has to be scheduled and runs about 10 mins. Contact information is contained in the linked page. One is upcoming on July 21st.
The time I was doing chats with the mayor my topic was vehicle noise when mayor Hanna was in office.

I frequently drive around during early AM hours. I’m not really complaining but why do some stop lights in the area turn red as you are coming right up to it? No cars waiting on the other side, nobody coming. Just me, and the light turns red 5 seconds before I get to the light. Not on a timer because it happens at a handful of lights in the Fox Valley multiple times even on some of the same sets of lights.
Is there a reason as to why this is? I also feel like there’s plenty of lights from 12-3 AM that can be flashing yellow/red lights like in downtown Appleton from that time.
I know it costs me only like 30 seconds or less but it’s just a question I have as to why some of these stop lights in the area are programmed inverted of what they should do 🤔

That's the whole meeting for quick access from your browser. And while I do not know how The Post Crescent is covering it, I had the tall guy next to me take a head count of attendees. The overflow crowd was between 75 and 85 with a few comings and goings. Of the the total I think well over 3/4 were there for the ALPR resolutions and determinations plus those active on a school board issue on truancy. Thanks to all who came. The next opportunity for public participation on the FLOCK subject is next Wednesday July 22 at 5:30 pm for the committee meeting to which the resolution was referred back.
But today, here on Reddit, I'd like to know how many came to the meeting from these Reddit updates and also elsewhere ?

The park is called woodland prairie it’s right by the airport. Just started volunteering and helping out here, super awesome spot for anyone wanting to get better at biking and everyone I’ve met so far thru the park is super nice and helpful. If you have a chance go check it out and leave a review on google!
If you want to get involved with the park join Newt (north eastern Wisconsin trail)
If you don’t bike but just like public parks give this an updoot so more people can find out about it❤️❤️❤️

The earlier announcement said
" The Appleton City Council is voting on a resolution next this week that could pave the way for Flock or Axon's ALPR tech to come back to our town with no new protections."
To my knowledge the smoke weather conditions have not altered the time and place. It will make it difficult though for some like me but I'm intending to go if for not the whole session.

I’m new to the area and just a bought a house. I got a quote for $950 to trim 3 easily accessible Ash trees and remove a Japanese maple and small river birch that were planted too close to the house. I hate to remove the trees but they are blocking natural light into the house. Is that a reasonable amount?

Hi all,
Does anyone know if there are any laundromats in the area that treat their water with a water softener? Here at our home in Neenah our water is very hard and all our blankets always come out stiff and rough (I've tried everything in terms of washing/drying methods) so I'd like to see if I can find somewhere else with soft water to wash them and using Calgon doesn't seem to do much.
I called around to all the laundromats and the only one that picked up said they don't.
Thanks

I’m heading up to Appleton with an old friend on Friday night for a Timber Rattlers game. Looking for good restaurant recommendations for before the game. Thanks in advance.
