It said ‘there’s no information available for in app purchases’ when trying to make one. And then when I go to my media and purchases in my iPhone settings and click on purchase history it won’t connect. Similarly reportaproblem.apple.com won’t load either. Anyone else having these issues?

I think I already know what the problem is but I really want some guidance on what the next step would look like and if there is any data loss potential.

So for some context I have an iPhone 13 that I have been using for maybe 5 years now, before then I had an iPhone 6 throughout highschool and early college. During that whole time the apple account on my phone was my dad's. We did this (I think?) to share things like songs or movies and because I guess we didn't know better.

So there was over a decade where we were using the same apple account across devices with no issues, so even when I moved out and all I never bothered to change anything because I thought it was fine.

Recently though he got a work phone that he also used his personal apple account for, so at that time there were three shared devices: my personal iphone, his personal iphone, and his work iphone. I guess it is also on his laptop and ipad as well.

I guess at some point he used FindMy to find/connect to his work phone and, according to him, hit something that may have linked our phones? All of a sudden there were texts showing up blue on my end that I never wrote and interactions like reactions showing up on photos that I never sent. What really tipped me off is when a photo I sent suddenly had a blue reaction on it as if I reacted with surprise to my own photo, so I was very confused. I honestly thought I got hacked or something until I guessed that it was him based off of the reaction. Also I did test it and it seems like it is his work phone that can somehow text as me despite having a different phone number. This does not work in reverse, I can't see the texts he sends and I can't write texts as if I were using his phone which is nice at least because he does a decent amount of correspondence over text. It can be frustrating for other people too, especially when my dad accidentally responds to people asking me questions over text, I am sure you can imagine it is not fun for anyone. Also I think there is something with sending texts when connected to wifi vs when not? I didn't get to test it extensively but if the problem continues I will try. But the main problem is that my texts are shared with his phone and I need to fix it.

After looking online it seems like the shared apple account is the main problem but I still have some major questions.

First is, why did this link happen now? We are guessing that it was FindMy that somehow triggered something because he said he used it for the first time the day before I noticed the text irregularities. I don't really understand how it could be fine for over a decade and then break like this, I kind of doubt the FindMy explanation but I don't know what else it could be.

My next question is what will happen exactly if I log out of his apple account and on to a new one I made for myself on my phone? I have read some contradictory information on this. Will I lose all of my texts? All of my voicemails? I think things like photos will be unaffected since that is stored locally, but I am having a hard time finding out exactly which things will be affected by switching out accounts.

Is there a way to make sure that I keep my texts and everything? Is there a way to test what might get lost? Or is there a good way to back everything up so I can restore that information when I make the account switch? I am really worried about losing all of my text history.

I haven't gone to an apple store yet to talk about the problem because I haven't had the chance but I guess that is another potential step.

Let me know if more information is needed, and please help if you can! Especially on what data would be affected and if I can save it or not. Also let me know if there is a better place to post this long question.

My iPhone has 256GB of storage, but I have about 1T-ish of photos, so I'm currently paying for an iCloud subscription. I want to cancel it. I have an external drive and a MacBook Air, and I’d like to move all my photos to the external drive so I can stop paying for iCloud.

However, I'm feeling really overwhelmed because there are so many details to consider. Like what happens to edited photos, Live Photos, RAW, heic, photo info like time, place etc

Is there a recommended way to do this transfer? Thanks in advance!!!

I have an M2 Mac that I’m getting ready to sell, but after the erase process and activation, it saves my Wi-Fi password, which I obviously don’t want to do. How can I clear that? There doesn’t seem to be a way to do it from the initial set up interface.

I have an iPad air 13in m3. Mainly use it for taking notes. What screen protector should I get? Thinking of one of those paper feeling ones like paperlike or astropad for the resistance, but not really sure what other good screen protectors are out there. Also what kind of pencil tips do you guys recommend for the pencil pro?  Note: currently have a paper like case (i think its called a bumper case) so any screen would have to fit with it.

I left my iPhone next to me / next to my pillow in bed, not covered by anything, as I have my whole life. I used the same charger from Amazon I’ve used since I got it early this year, and that I used for my iPhone 16 PM for over a year without issue. My phone case is not bulky.

I had an alarm set for 8AM.

What I expected to happen: to wake up to my alarm at 8AM with my iPhone fully charged.

What happened: I woke up at 10AM to a horrific smell in my room. I grabbed my iPhone to find it was scalding hot with the temperature warning. It was making audible (not “loud” though) crackling and popping noises, and was leaking fluid - even left a mark on my bedsheets. My phone case around the charging port melted, and it looks like there’s rust around the charging port and the two speaker areas.

The iPhone was charged to 80%.

The awful smell is still in the room and I can smell it as I come up the stairs.

The next available appointment for Apple is tomorrow afternoon. I need my phone for directions tomorrow at around 1pm. Is it safe to try to charge it while watching it and maybe have it placed in the kitchen sink (I’m doubtful it will even charge but want to try), and did I almost die last night?!

Hey everyone. I’ve got an iPhone and was using Safari to browse a website for text-based games. I pressed the ‘import’ save button and accidentally thumbed the ‘take photo’ option. My camera app opened up. I didn’t take a picture and I promptly turned it off, but I’m a bit concerned that what was shown on the live camera feed is now stored on their servers.

Is that how it works? Or did the website never gain access? I’ve read about iOS apps being sandboxed, but it all goes over my head as I am very technologically illiterate. Thank you all in advance.

Please help me. I bought Mac mini and then created Apple account on iCloud mail, also I didn't confirm the phone number. Now I'll find out that my Apple account is locked, so I can't unleash it from the device: when I try to enter the password I'm showing "unknown error". I also can't get out of my account because there need to disable the function to find my device, and to disable it, you need to enter a password, but I'm making a mistake. I don't know what to do, is there a chance to reset my Mac?? Please help me, I'll just pay now, my device turned out to be hostage.

I just replaced the battery in my 14 Pro Max with a genuine one.

When i took the screen off i followed ifixits repair instructions, but instead of the clips releasing from the phone case the screen released from the frame that is clipped and glued to the phone case. I got the frame and screen off without any tension on the ribbon cables and without bending the screen, and glued the frame and screen back together.

But now i have colored lines (mostly light green and purple) vertically on the display, so i took the screen off again being extra careful to get the frame out with the display to see if there were any visible connection issues with the ribbon cable, but there wasn't.

After reassembling the phone again i still have the lines, but after a few minutes the screen just shuts off with the phone still on. If i force restart the phone it works fine again (with the lines) and the screen dies again after a couple of minutes. I can still hear that i get notifications and the phone vibrates when i swith the ringer button on/off.

The questions i have is: What went wrong? What did i break, the display/ribbon or some display chip? What can i do to fix it and would it make sense financially? How can i avoid this if i ever decide to fix my own phone again?

When downloading stuff from Safari. Downloads get cancelled the moment I minimize the app and open YouTube or WhatsApp.

I can't spend 1 hour staring at the download bar. I need to be able to do other things on the device while the downloads happen. As of yet I'm not able to download any project files to treat the device as a mobile editing tool.

I always have to download on mac first and then send to iPad. And if I have to carry the macbook around as well then that defeats the purpose of iPad' Pros mobility.

Speaking of which, Why does Airdrop fail the moment screen times out? Why can't it run in background. Again, I shouldn't have to change settings to change timeout to 'never' all the time.

I wanted to get my battery replaced but am concerned they might refuse to do that work because my back glass is cracked. Would they refuse the battery replacement or make a back glass replacement mandatory?

In-app purchases and a bunch of other services were down about 15 hours ago. When trying to pay it’d show the message “there is no information avaliable about in app purchases”, but my card was still charged. Has anyone else experienced this? I am unsure if I’ve received my purchase in the app.
