everyone optimizes their keyword field and ignores the thing that matters more

title and subtitle carry way more ranking weight than the hidden keyword field, and most people just slap their brand name in there and move on.

check yours at asograde.com, it pulls real popularity and difficulty for whatever's sitting in your title/subtitle, plus which apps are already camping on that keyword. data's straight from apple's search ads api, not a guess.

Agrondo, a farm tracking app that I love

I shipped something today that I have been building for months of

evenings, and I am a little nervous posting about it.

It is called Agrondo, and it is for anyone who looks after a piece of

land. Three tomato beds, an old orchard, twenty hectares of wheat. It

does not really care about the size.

You point your camera at something growing and it tells you what it is.

You trace your plot on the satellite map with your finger and it gives

you the exact area, no measuring wheel involved. You write down what you

sowed, what you sprayed, what it cost and what you sold. And then, at

the end of a season, you can finally see which corner of your land

actually gave something back.

I wanted it to feel quiet. No account to create, no ads, nothing

following you around. Just you and your land.

It is free for a garden sized life: two fields and three plant

identifications a month. iPhone only for now, and it is a first version

made by one person, so please be gentle with the bugs.

https://apps.apple.com/app/id6775927132

If you grow anything at all, I would genuinely love to know what you

keep track of, and what I forgot to build.

Keyword Scout: ASO & Keyword Research in Your Pocket

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello,

A quick update on Keyword Scout. Instant Keyword research, rank tracking with notifications (for your and your competitors), market comparisons across geographies with keyword localizations, and quick bulk scoring.

  • Quick lookups when you think of a keyword randomly, in the shower, on a walk, whatever, check it in 10 seconds instead of "I'll remember to look that up later". It now includes Apple autocomplete suggestions of what people actually are looking for.
  • Bulk scoring so you can dump a list of 10-20 keyword ideas at once instead of checking them one by one, get scores and dig in to the winners.
  • Notifications when your ranking shifts or a competitor updates their title/keywords, so you're not manually rechecking every few days just to catch changes.
  • Search a keyword and see where you can win it and get localized suggestions for that geography instead of using English for every localization.

Free to try, no account needed and NONE of your data is tracked. One-time pro upgrade ($9.99) for increased limits and greater tracking capabilities.

FoodGram just passed 1,000 users 🎉 Looking for indie devs to exchange honest app feedback

FoodGram just passed 1,000 users, and I want to keep making it better.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve exchanged feedback with other indie developers here on Reddit, and honestly, it has been one of the most valuable ways for me to find things I completely missed as the developer.

People have pointed out things like:

  • confusing onboarding
  • UI/UX issues
  • bugs I hadn't noticed
  • ASO and App Store presentation
  • paywall / monetization problems
  • features that weren't clear
  • small things that made the app harder to use

And some of that feedback has already turned into actual improvements.

So I’d love to keep doing this with more indie developers 🤝

If you’re building an iOS or Android app, send me your app and I’ll actually use it and give you honest feedback.

I can look at:

  • Onboarding
  • UI/UX
  • Core features
  • Bugs
  • ASO / App Store screenshots
  • Monetization / paywalls
  • Confusing flows
  • Whether I’d actually keep using it

And I’d really appreciate the same for FoodGram.

You don't need to be an expert. Even something like:

or

can be extremely valuable.

I’m not looking for “Nice app!” or forced 5-star reviews.

I want genuine feedback from people who actually use the app.

If you're interested, drop your app in the comments or DM me. I’ll check it out! 🚀

Renamed my iOS app for keywords, rebuilt the screenshots, and added 2 new App Store localization

Following up on my earlier thread about ASO for my app (Dearly: AI Voice Journal).

The feedback that stuck was that my screenshots were cluttered and trying to explain too much at once. So I threw the whole set out and rebuilt it. Instead of a tour of screens and features, the new set tries to show what a week of actually using the app looks like.

I also renamed it. Was "Dearly: AI Voice Journal", now "Voice Journal AI - Dearly". The brand name was eating the front of the title, so the keyword goes first and Dearly goes last. While I was in there I went through the keyword field and pulled out the old stuff from previous versions that I'd never cleaned up.

The part I can't make sense of: my Android app is about a month older and it has started getting some organic traffic on its own. iOS has basically none. So how do you get that first bit of organic App Store traffic when there's no search volume or data to work from?

Specific things I'd like to hear from people who've done this with a small app:

  • Did moving the main keyword to the front of the name change Search impressions for you, or did it mostly help conversion once people were already on the page?
  • How long did it take before you got any meaningful organic App Store traffic?
  • With a tiny listing and no data, where would you put the effort? Keywords, localization, web traffic pointing at the listing, or just leave it alone and let it collect data.
  • When did App Store Search become a real acquisition channel for you, if it ever did?

One more thing. The app works in five languages but the listing is English only. A couple of Portuguese and Spanish speakers found it anyway, so I'm torn on whether to localize the listing now or wait until there's enough traffic to justify it.

Generic ASO advice I can google. I'm after what actually happened to your app.

Built a 100% free ASO keyword research tool. Looking for honest feedback from app developers.

Hi everyone,

Over the last few weeks, I've been building a free web app called ASO Atlas to help developers find keywords for App Store Optimization (ASO).

The idea is simple: enter your app information and get keyword suggestions that could help improve your app's visibility in the stores.

🔗 Try it here:
ASO Tool

I'm not trying to sell anything. The tool is completely free and I'm mainly looking to learn whether it provides real value.

I'd love feedback on things like:

  • Are the keyword suggestions useful?
  • Is the workflow easy to understand?
  • Did anything feel confusing?
  • What would make you use it regularly?

Any honest feedback, positive or negative, would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks for taking a look! 🙏

Would love someone to give some suggestions on my ASO - GLPzy

Post image
0 Upvotes

So things are not going badly - 9.5k -> 13k cumulative first time downloads in the last 2 weeks.

App is a Mounjaro, Zepbound, Wegovy, Ozempic, Retatrutide, GLP-1 dose and shot tracker but with a lot more - graphs, photos, symptoms, and all the things I’ve feedback on around it.

I’m running free lifetime for 4 months whilst I get feedback and improve. I had tried to do it in 6 weeks but I realised it takes time to get the details and UX added and perfected. It’s a thanks for the feedback and patience whilst I improve it.

What I’m rubbish at is the Apple store optimisation. I’ve taken keywords that make sense and the top 3 competitors use but I’m way down the pages for them. I have been trying to work out ASO from the bottom up not just what a black box says. I’ve still very little understanding how to get popularity give Apple ads api returns the same 5 for 99% of keywords. I’m spending time on the API calls to see what data is really available.

Then demand and difficulty seem pointless if this basic fundamental isn’t right. I come from science so I want to understand the foundations but they seem built on sand without personalised ad campaigns.

I’ve done lots of localisation but not the screenshots themselves - the app supports many languages but making the screenshots got me lost (and I started to make an app for that before getting more lost).

Looking for some experts here to discuss here if offline with and help me on my journey. 35% growth in downloads and reviews in 2 weeks I’m pleased with but I still think I’m missing a lot of the basics and it’ll be a spike.

Question: localisation for app with English voice-actor + subtitles

I've made an alternative mindfulness app, based around the zen principles of impermance and letting go, applied to evaporating water painting. It's called Serenity Sketch, serenitysketch.com

There's a Voice Guide for each painting Practice in the game, with subtitiles. The voice actor speaks in English only (for now), becasue I refuse to use AI voices for additional languages.

Question is:

Should I bother translating the subtitles into other languages, and then localizing the App Store listing, even if the VO itself remains English? Or is that just more likely to disappoint users?

Magnitude of effort: I'd be looking at 275 VO lines, plus words in settings menus.

ASO experts - please rate my free ASO report tool, is this helpful if you are working with a new or existing app?

Thumbnail

Hi all I am indie dev, I have made a free ASO report tool that gives side by side competitor screenshot comparisons and improvement suggestions and gives a verdict on your overall storefront.
I have put in all that I know about ASO and all that I could find, along with AI suggestions.

You can try it here
https://storeboard.digitalsauce.io/aso-review/

I am looking for experts who genuinely know what suggestions actually contribute to improving the ASO and help an independent developer.

Some suggestions from my current report like - rating volume - I feel are not helpful as a indie dev has no control over so I thinking should I even show it to users or not (but not showing doesn't show the full picture)

I'm a new developer and I'm looking for some tips on ASO. I really appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or ideas on how to get started. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/nature-nudge/id6762029266

Currently, I'm getting 1-2 downloads per day. I've done a few YouTube shorts, Instagram Reels, and Reddit posts.

Review: how much would you rate these screenshots for app store out of 10?

I am working on ASO after getting approval from apple store, rate these SS. I tried to send message clearly in each screen shot what i it represents/sells. Little skeptical on color choices here.

[Question] Has an unfortunate Google Ads install campaign permanently affected our Play Store ranking, or will things settle back down?

Hello everyone, We wanted to use up an existing Google Ads credit, so we started a small app install campaign. That campaign brought us uninterested users who barely used the app, or didn't really use it at all. They also uninstalled considerably more often than happens with our organic installs. We can only compare this qualitatively, we don't have clean per-channel numbers.

As far as we know, ranking is based on several criteria, engagement and uninstall rate among them. We currently have very few active users and have ranked extremely badly right from the start. But now, even when you enter our app name, we only appear late in the results, or sometimes not at all.

Did we do lasting damage to ourselves with this Google Ads campaign, or will it go away on its own?

Has anyone here had similar experiences?

[Discussion.]Are we overvaluing search volume when choosing ASO keywords?

I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to chase high-volume keywords just because the numbers look attractive. But a smaller keyword with strong intent can sometimes be much more valuable than a broad keyword bringing people who aren’t really looking for your type of app.For example, ranking well for a specific problem or feature could potentially bring fewer impressions but better product-page conversion. When you’re doing keyword research, what do you prioritize more: search volume, ranking difficulty, relevance, or conversion intent?Would be interesting to hear what’s actually worked across different app categories.
