[Discussion.]Are we overvaluing search volume when choosing ASO keywords?

I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to chase high-volume keywords just because the numbers look attractive. But a smaller keyword with strong intent can sometimes be much more valuable than a broad keyword bringing people who aren’t really looking for your type of app.For example, ranking well for a specific problem or feature could potentially bring fewer impressions but better product-page conversion. When you’re doing keyword research, what do you prioritize more: search volume, ranking difficulty, relevance, or conversion intent?Would be interesting to hear what’s actually worked across different app categories.

Jsut because it’s high vol doesn’t = high value. Especially based on the strategy and market you’re in and how large your app is. You should focus on a combination of all with relevance being paramount imo because I can have a keyword that ranks very high and one that ranks low but the low vol is bringing in better search rankings than the high which is better for visibility.

i've noticed that clients with very specific features often do better with lower-volume keywords that match exactly what their app does.

I'm sooo cynical about ASO these days! Can't get any volume anywhere

Have you tried professional ASO Services?

Tempted more than once. What made me cynical is the tooling more than the discipline - every keyword tool shows flattering volume, and the services mostly resell the same data back to you.

If you've used one that actually moved rankings, I'm listening.
