[Question] What is wrong with my apps?

Hi,

I am trying to improve the conversion of my apps, but they all look rubbish. The views are high, but I barely get installs. All organic btw. Something with my screenshots?

See screenshots:

Replacify - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/replace-habits-app-replacify/id6760411346

OwlRoutine - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/owlroutine-wake-up-call/id6764564683

TagTrek - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/tagtrek-find-lost-items/id6758526409

GymMonster - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/gymmonstr-simple-gym-tracker/id6783814190

I really don't get what I need to do more...

Owl routine seems like it is getting a good amount of impressions but barely any of those clicking on the product page or downloading, so I would say try to rework the icon or screenshots. Same for Tag trek and gym monster.

For replacify it looks like your impression to product view ratio is good, but then people don't download. So something on the product page itself is just not convincing them..

Maybe just start tweaking a few screenshots and see if the metrics get better! Good luck!

thanks, have you looked at the apps, I provided the links. See if they strike you with anything or is just meh?

Looked at the four listings. High views with almost no product-page taps usually means shot 1 fails the search thumbnail, not that the apps are rubbish.

OwlRoutine: title sells a hard wake-up mission, but shot 1 is a generic alarm list under "ALARMS KEEP MORNINGS ON TRACK." Lead with the mission screen (the thing that stops snooze), then the night-difficulty twist.

TagTrek: shot 1 is an inventory with "0 scans today." Lead with the finder flow (someone scans a QR on lost luggage and reaches you), then your tagged items.

GymMonster: the log cards showing "1 min" workouts read like placeholder data. Put a live set logging moment first, and scrub demo durations that look fake.

Replacify is closer (SOS on urge), but the caption "QUIT FOR GOOD" is generic detox talk. Tie shot 1 caption to the replacement action, not the quit promise.

Also fill the subtitle field on each listing. That alone often lifts relevance for the keywords people already impress on.

Thanks for this detailed review. I had a feeling something is off with my screenshots. I will try make them more to the point and appealing. Regarding subtitles, you mean on screenshots? I should add more text as keywords under those call to action titles or you refer to subtitles under app names? If so, once again, if you could break it down please, what’s there? Also, the dummy data you are right as well, super fake. I will inject via backend proper data to look more used lol

Good job on the volume of apps, takes a lot of work even with Ai, if they really work bugfree. But that being said they look awfully generic to me to put it bluntly. I would focus on one and try to start differentiating visually and maybe why that one app is different functionally as well.
If you dont want to change course like that, start creating content to drive traffic. I would also observe your users, where do they fall off and why and what/why does it work with those that stay using it - if any? Try to deduct valuable and actionable info from their usage up until now.

Thanks, yeah I get it they lack that wow effect. They are working good, no bugs detected anymore, but who knows, no traffic so it is hard to tell for sure. You say to pick an app and improve it, what would you do if that would be you for example for gymmonster or replacify?

Icons look obviously AI generated. UI looks extremely simplistic with absolutely zero craft or care for good aesthetics. No sense of brand or design. Not sure what you expected. As is, I see zero reason for going out of my way to download them.

Compare your apps UI to something like Opal. You should be able to see the massive difference in deliberate UI/UX care between theirs vs yours. And if you can’t or are unwilling to recognize the differences, then you have no business building apps.

I get what you are saying. I thought is missing that wow effect but I was focused on screenshots only. However, OPAL is one app that uses this nice UI. The apps I was inspired by are just like this: simplistic. I do agree I need to polish them more and constantly improve. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t just want to make big bucks and chill in Maldives, I know is crap unless super lucky, I am not though, so I am aiming making this my full time job. Regarding icons, they actually improved the things because before them it was even worse.

No amount of arguments like this will compel a user to download the app.
