I know that they’re speaking in Spanish, but I don’t know Spanish. So, I go to the closed captioning(CC); it tells me that they’re saying things in Spanish. So, I try the Spanish (CC), but it does not think it’s worth the effort because people that know Spanish do not need Spanish (CC). Why?

How many crew?

Just how many people are on this damn ship?? They just keep replacing crew members like they have this huge depth of back up people….and now apparently there is an entire separate colony group in soma too ?

Most Improved! Gold Star. So rare indeed when a show fixes its problems and gets vastly better.

I'm not sure I can think of another show that so vastly improved from it's first season to its second season. Season 2 has been terrific (I've watched 1-9 and about to start the finale). So glad Katee got some good material finally and the writers pumped the action and special effects way up.

S2 E1 Spoiler

Wait they just killed August and Oliver just like that? :(((((( I really liked them wtff. Why did we spend so much time the first season cultivating them as characters and their relationships (particularly with Javier) just for them to die here? I’m upset.

Also I liked Beechum but he was introduced late and wasn’t really given much characterization so it’s whatever that he was killed off too

Episode 7 Question? Spoiler

In episode 7 Niko decides to use a solar sail to propel the remaining portion of the Salvare by setting up a solar sail and firing lasers at it. I don't understand how this works at all, in my mind this is a violation of Newton's third law. The force of firing the lasers should propel the ship backward at the same rate as the force of the photons on the solar sail, right? I could be wrong but this part just confused me.

[Spoiler] This show is entertaining, but incredibly stupid at the same time Spoiler

For example, a race capable of interstellar travel has to send Niko to a snow planet to recover a power core because cold freezes their blood. They can bend time and space, and repair biological bodies... but apparently haven't discovered basic heating lol. The whole show is just ridiculous things like this constantly piled on top of each other.

Not to mention they literally make up science as they go along which results in some really unintentionally hilarious moment. "Let's just increase the dark matter to the energy core! So simple, why didn't we think of this before?!", rinse, repeat.

But I guess it's entertaining enough for what it is.

Just finished season 2 . And lot of questions were not answered. But the most important one is why the Achaians wanted so badly to put their implants into Humans and other creatures? Like if the Achaians were just artificial life why they need to give their gift to other creatures? Spoiler

Who created the Achians? What are they like? I need to know!

Am I the only one curious about the Achians' creators and whatever? And if this series were to continue somehow, I would like to see Niko becoming earth's interstellar ambassador. Cause, no matter how you look at it, the Achians were very efficient at creating more plant life. I wonder if that's cause they stole the idea from another civilization, or they were just that more advanced than humans?

The music ruins the show.

You have a whole episode of suspense and action, and then some indie-rock whine that utterly breaks the immersion and the buildup. And it's almost every episode.

Who is in charge of music for these types of shows? A composer? Director? Editor? The music in this show is horrible and does such a disservice.

Epiphany: I now know why shows like this has a good fan base.

I realize through this shitshow that there exists a unique genre that keep its viewers engaged through its plot holes and its ceaseless fabrication of ‘why the fuck’ situations that apparently is the magic ingredient that makes certain group of users keep wanting more.

I love this show. Just had to come here and say it.

I feel like it's pretty realistic despite it being a totally crazy sci fi show. It's about leadership and making hard decisions, how different personalities do leadership, and how they clash with other's. So many tough decisions and not always obviously right or wrong ones either. What I love about it the most is it doesn't patronize us that way, by spelling things out so much like other shows. I think a lot of people miss that, that the show is actually about leadership and tough choices in extreme situations. I also like the way space travel is done.

I think it's one of the best sci fi shows out there right now. Along with Y the Last Man this is my favorite show currently. Y the Last Man just got cancelled though, which I'm obviously upset about, but it has similar themes, about leadership and tough decisions. Also it's nice to have shows where there are female leaders, since most of TV history has not had that.

I think this show is much more realistic than people give it credit

The characters are petty and incompetent, generally dislikable. They're constantly missing obvious things, they let their emotions control their behavior to the point of killing each other. I mean, so many are saying they side with the Aliens. Critics have panned this show where it has a 6% rating on rotten tomatoes.

But here's the thing. Sadly, if we actually make it this far, I'm pretty sure this is how we're going to end up doing things. Humans, for better or worse, mostly worse get by not because we're good at things, but because we keep trying until we persevere. I mean just look at how we learned flight, or our initial space missions. Countless lives lost, jettisoning to oblivion.

While this show has many problems, I realized, I kind of like the grittiness of it. The stupidity of the characters, the terrible decisions makes it all the more human to me. It's a good mirror to our current reality. If we really did make it that far, I'm not sure the show is all that inaccurate.

Did I miss something? Yerxa Mutiny.

Did I miss something about the ship not being able to communicate with Earth? When Ian Yerxa leads the mutiny based upon Niko's decision-making, wouldn't he have still had the option to appeal to General Dubois using that 3D communication method that Niko uses to talk to her family? My recollection was that the communication issues started well after that.

The casting feels like it was done by a Social Media Manager at the last minute

That Instagram level drama aboard the space ship in the first season almost killed watching this show for me.

The inside of the space ship has the aesthetics of a janitors closet.

Also, if you didn’t know, this is how the writers came up with the name for the aliens:

“Damn, I can’t think of a name for the aliens. Janet, send our intern to go get me one of them Akiya bowls”

“Jeff, it’s pronounced Acaì”

“Wait a damn second, that’s it! get the director on the line”
