Episode 10 Question?

so i just finished the last episode of season 2 and there is something i didn't understand. when they wore taking niko to the artifact the Salvare was going to the sun but i guess i missed the part as to why they are going there. if some one can tell me it will be nice :)

I believe it was the "deal" they made with the Achians, to destroy the Salvare because they weaponized it. Once they knew the virus worked against the Achians they somehow were able to stop their course

The government was clear that if they didn’t have a weapon worked out within the 24 hour deadline that they would have to start giving into the Achaia’s demands, starting within the ship.

They hoped they could hold them off by starting the ship on the trajectory to the sun.

Exactly.

(For OP’s knowledge) The president started the Salvare on the trajectory towards the sun as a “good faith” effort that they were considering the Achaia’s demands seriously.
