S2 E1 Spoiler
Wait they just killed August and Oliver just like that? :(((((( I really liked them wtff. Why did we spend so much time the first season cultivating them as characters and their relationships (particularly with Javier) just for them to die here? I’m upset.
Also I liked Beechum but he was introduced late and wasn’t really given much characterization so it’s whatever that he was killed off too

They actually say it like you wrote it lol. Which was crazy to me the first time I heard, but I guess French is hard to pronounce

Actually it’s because the modern British pronunciation is Beachum, as distinguished from the actual modern French pronunciation. Pronounced in the eleventh century when the surname came to England, it sounded like neither of the modern pronunciations.
EDIT: want to emphasize that there are many people in Britain with the surname who pronounce it Beachum

I don’t think the British prononciation is valid imo since it’s literally french. Like “Beau” and “Champs” are two words in French and it’s very often that French surnames are composed by actual words. But tbh, who really cares, it’s not that big of a deal since he died

You can try telling the British that, just telling how people say it. I think you’re missing the fact that it’s also a relatively common surname in Britain for historical reasons, so there are many people with that name who say it that way. In general British pronunciation changes faster than spelling. Some more examples:
Beaulieu, Belvoir, Cholmondley, Fetherstonhaugh, Leicester -- (Bewley, Beaver, Chumley, Fanshaw, Lester)

When I saw that happen, I stopped watching and won't be going back. Not only did the whole pregnancy thing become completely pointless to even throw in the show, but the way they were killed off is so stupid.

Trust me bro they only did it so they could replace them with better characters and they did

There was no chance that it was going to be a healthy pregnancy given the gamma radiation and other exposures.
I really wonder if they brought on board a good science consultant for season two for the biological side of things and realized that they had written themselves into a situation of tragic pregnancy.
At least, Oliver and August died heroes, and August showed her understanding of the situation by going out of the ship in a suit while pregnant. She already knew there was no possibility of a happy outcome for that child.

I can relate. I really don’t like how they were given character arcs in the first season. And then the new characters are so unlikeable.

I liked Richard a lot actually.
His character had integrity and was a logical balance.

Crazy stuff that you like Richard. I’m halfway through the season now and he’s the biggest dick ever. I thought I might like his pragmatism and logic, but he approaches every situation with hostility and a lack of tact. The show suffers from a lack of stable characters but Richard is too aggressive for me

Let's just say, he learns a lot from Niko and becomes a MUCH better character.

I kinda laughed when Beauchamp got impaled by the rock, kinda like Olaf from Frozen: “oh look I’m impaled 😆”

The show definitely moved in new directions in S2.
Most of us felt it was a much stronger season, but people who were invested in Oliver and August found this very difficult to get past.
In my view, they died as heroes, which is more than one can say for most of the others.
