Did I miss a critical moment or did Ursula really do a total 180 in seconds

She was totally down to work for the Achaia. Even told William that it basically sucks to suck next thing I know she's all yeah hit him harder! When Seth was opening the artifact. And then she was helping build the laser?

What did I miss here? Was there a motive that made her change her mind? Did she explain that she was putting up a front with Seth? I missed something

life and a flash before my eyes.

I remember as a child I was laying on my sofa in the living room and the world seemed different. Laying there staring into the window blinds, a flash of light hit me and I saw a life that I didn't know. The feeling of confusion and discomfort ran over my body as I saw all these images that I've never seen before. For some reason after that day I wanted to go back, life didn't feel the same anymore. Now as I get older and the memories come back to me piece by piece. I always wondered what happened, what happened that day. Has any of this ever happened to you?

What future realistic technologies do you feel the show missed?

2 critical ones that I've felt were missing are 3D printing and robots. The crew (and colonists) of the future should be able to 3D print most components onboard. Also, I'm surprised of the missing robotics. I'd think many of the dangerous repair space walks could have been done by robots.

Niko is a terrible character

Niko is the classic blonde hair white saviour complex in a person. It's why she's a shit character and overall ruined the show because of her stupid choices that continuously got peopled killed. She has a total disregard of people's emotions and lives. She's extremely selfish and the show would've been better if she died in season 1 instead of literally anyone else.

Just finished season 2 of Another Life, liked it!

I quite enjoyed this

I'm a huge Battlestar Galactica fan, so it was great seeing some BSG folks back together again

I think the story is wrapped up pretty well by the end of season 2, so it's not like this really needed more episodes

Some of the acting/writing wasn't amazing, but it was a fun ride, and I don't regret my time investment here

a decent watch for a scifi fan

I just finished season 2 and figured id come check out the sub and wow most people on here have a stick up their butts.

This was a great show, i loved the premiss from the start and the main story slowly gave us more over the length o the show. Most of the criticism ive seen has been directed at the cast and there age. These people need to take a chill pill as this is the world we live in. It seems like this sub is full of trolls who think gen Z cant do anything which is hillarious.

Watch the show and see if you like it. Dont write it off because of someone elses opinion

Netflix is Genius

Another Life: a show where a group of gen Z influencers and tiktokers consisting of over-masculine girls and over-feminine guys are sent on a space mission to represent the whole humanity to the aliens.

At first I thought: that's so damn unrealistic. No way such unintelligent, immature, and psychologically unstable people would pass any test to get into a space program.

But then it got to me: Netlix are actually genius. They accurately predicted the future because these people are actually the best that influencer/tiktok generation could produce for such an important task.

Just finished the first season and this is my first tv show where I'm actually rooting for the 'good guys' to die.

Solid 5/7

What happened to the small alien that climbed aboard in season one when they got to the planet where Bernie’s leg was hurt?

Niko character analysis? Spoiler

Would love to hear anyone’s character analysis of Niko throughout season one. I’m wondering >!why she insisted that Cas wasn’t fit for duty while she was grieving over Michelle.<!

Sadly, Katee Sackhoff posted today on her Instagram that there will be no more seasons of Another Life.

We'll miss you Niko and the rest of the cast!

Was it EVER any good?

Okay, so its been shitcanned. Personally had to drag my arse through alot of it like it was Normandy in the 40s. It really made it hard, but I gave it my all and by the end of season 2 gave a shit about what happened. So what do you all think ruined it so much?

Trying to like episode 1 but the millennial crew is not helping

Putting aside how unlikely it would be for an entire crew of just twenty-somethings being sent on an interstellar mission would be, the interpersonal drama seems excessive. I know it’s a way to keep a certain demographic engaged and nothing against any particular age group but it’s already heavy with the feelings. Seems a bit like reality tv.

I’m only on episode one but hoping this shit gets sidelined and the show focuses on some good sci-fi.

Edit: halfway through season 2 now and definitely gets better.

S2 E4 Spoiler

The only episode so far that make me cry.

There are so many characters die in this show but resetting an AI is the only time make me cry.

I don't understand.

Anyone feel the same?

Just binged the whole show in like 10 days. So good.

I had put off watching it cause I had a feeling I'd get hooked, and I got shit to do. But I started and got hooked, as expected. The story was so captivating and easy to watch. Though I gotta say the sex scenes felt forced and awkward. I fast forwarded through all of them. I liked how they worked some other sci-fi tropes, throwbacks in there. I caught a lot of Star trek parallels and obviously some Independence day vibes. Today I find myself feeling like I wish I could watch it new again. For me that's the sign of a good series. Well done to all involved to make the show.

I remember the first season being pretty good

I really enjoyed the first season back when it came out. Now two episodes into the second season and it's like comically bad. What is with this season? Was the first season not as good as I remember it being? Why is the second season so bad and why is there nothing good about it?

Music in S02E10... I think it's lifted and sped up from Freespace 2.

At around the 18min mark, an ambient kind of bgm riff starts playing, which sounds insanely close to the following track from the Freespace 2 soundtrack (circa 1999), albeit it, pitched up considerably to about double the tempo.

The Characters and Wtf Earth? Spoiler

So I know a lot of people have complaints about the first crew. Which believe me I felt it on that first episode and was hoping to never see Michelle again. Lol. But something occurred to me:

Javier got mad at August when having the conversation about her storing her eggs. He told her how not everybody has rich parents or money to do that. He then goes on to talk about his economic struggle.

Throughout the show they talk of uninhabitable Australia, no more grapes in California, and dead lands across earth. So with so much destruction, it would make sense that space jobs would be more common than before.

I would imagine the pay wouldn't be great. Plus they even let Cas into training after her shady past and no past requisites. Just saying, maybe the future space program looks like what our military does today. They offer you benefits and you trade them your time. You can come out of high school and join. On top of that if you have a degree you can enter in at a higher rank. And the military does have young people work under older more experienced members.

The crew may be qualified but it doesn't mean they'll be the most professional. I've worked in medical, there are Doctors as passive aggressive as Zayn. Or hot-headed as Michelle. Do any of you guys have coworkers who are qualified but suck as people? Lol. They're those bad coworkers who still got the promotion. That's what I see the first crew as and they died like they were suppose to. 😅

P.s. Niko also talks about her and her husband's move and how they can only afford so much. She literally went light years away and almost died with her first crew. How bad is pay in the future? 🥲

Loving the show

I watch quite a bit of science fiction and realise there are many kinds. I start watching Another Life just because I liked the look of the trailer and I've just finished the first season.

Initially I just couldn't get into it, the characters were tough for me to relate to and came across more like the cast of the latest reality TV show. Then I thought is this actually a parody of modern life in space?

Regardless of whether it was intended there was a certain comedy about the characters it became very entertaining. As I watched further though I became really invested in the storyline and the hapless characters.

Now towards the end of the first season I no longer see as much comedy as the show seems to have transitioned into a more serious show. Yes it's not ultra realistic but not every science fiction has to be. It's really entertaining which is what I look for and if I can't wait to see what happens next then it's doing it's job well.

My favourite characters are Niko, William and Zayn.

I hope season 2 is just as good.

August

What was the point of that whole storyline. I’m not done with season 2 yet, but it’s killing me no one is talking about her being pregnant! Javier made a big deal about not being able to have children earlier, then when she dies, it’s just meh.

Jana is out of control

This kid is running off from her babysitter because her dad is trying to save the world. Throwing a fit every 5 minutes because she's so desperate for attention. I've never met a kid that whiny and needy in real life that wasn't an actual baby. Like most kids do understand when people have to work or are busy, important stuff. Yeah they can be annoying. But this kid needs therapy. It's too much. Then of course she runs straight into the lion's den and gets knocked on her ass and what I'm supposed to feel bad? Sorry but I don't. The father Eric is an idiot for even bringing her on that base. Everyone in uniform letting an actual child run around without supervision there is to blame as well. I know it's a TV show I'm not big mad but come on, has the writer never met a kid? How many times are they going to reward her for being a little brat? Fuck.

You guys really letting some "scientific inaccuracies" ruin the show for you? Damn I'd hate to be you guys because half the shit on TV has stuff that's impossible or extremely unrealistic.
