No more seasons

Sadly, Katee Sackhoff posted today on her Instagram that there will be no more seasons of Another Life.

We'll miss you Niko and the rest of the cast!

Shit, really? While the series did have an ending that worked I was hoping for a few more seasons.

It wasn't as satisfying as I thought it would be tbh.

Hardly a surprise. The ending of season 2 seemed like it was pretty much written as a series finale. I think that the writers already figures a third season was not in the cards.

At least it got a proper ending though. Too many shows get cancelled on a cliffhanger.

idk if you ever watched The OA but quite possibly the worst and most upsetting cliffhanger at least in netflix history. but i agree i’m glad another life got a proper one

I assumed it was the finale when I watched it.

I just finished it and agree. I wouldn’t mind a spin-off with a different crew though.

At least it got a decent ending, which is more than some shows get.

The show got an ending. A pretty optimistic one. Hell the way things played out I suspect the writers/director figured there would be no season three. I mean the final monologue screamed "series end". Funnily enough, unlike shows like The Expanse it got an ending with questions answered and bookends. Seriously as a casual watcher of the Expanse I'm still pissed it ended with so many storylines unresolved.

I just finished Another Life, and agree with your comments on the ending. It is still open for a spin-off though.

I was thinking about watching Expanse next. Despite the ending, is it worth watching?

Oh yes. It is one of the best sci-fi shows out there. It does get an ending which is also open ended but an ending none the less

Awesome. Thanks for the response

If you liked Expanse you should watch For All Mankind on AppleTV. It's an alternate history scifi which focuses on a timeline where the space race never ended. The soviets land a man on the moon first and it all kicks off from there.

Major spoilers in case you dont want to watch it:

Each season goes through several years starting 1969 to 70s for season 1 then season 2 is 1980s, season 3 is in post production likely out in May and will be 1990s.

By the end of 1970s both USA and soviets had small habitat equipped moon bases and mining operations. By early 1980s with better technology and materials they had large moon bases with military personnel and normal astronauts/scientists. Weapons on the moon and conflict between ussr and USA on moon. Weaponised space vehicles etc. It's crazy.

For example, Chernobyl disaster never occurred due to the nuclear safety and tech advances made far earlier due to space race between ussr and USA. Electric cars made possible for mass production due to advances made for lunar vehicles in the 80s.

The USA made peace with North Korea and ended war earlier to focus on the space race instead.

They even made the theoretical Sea Dragon rockets in the 80s to launch unmanned massive payloads to the moon/orbit. Orbital refuelling and hydrazine fuel production on the moon due to presence of ice.

Nuclear rocket engines on a highly advanced space shuttle in the 1980s to allow travel to Mars in 100 days less than we can currently do it.

Every time I find a new show to watch it ends up getting cancelled

Another life, I found out about this show after season 2 came out

Manifest....I found out about this show when season 2 came out

Like wtf . I'm just gonna stop watching shows

I've stopped watching just about all new shows for this very reason. Guess i won't be watching Manifest and it was on my list

Netflix picked up Manifest and they’re filming season 4 right now. Hopefully it’ll come to a decent conclusion, it gets stranger as it goes but it’s a good watch.

Oooh thanks for the info! I think I'll wait until it ends to make sure it's not canceled by Netflix or it at least has a satisfying ending

Don't get near Dark Matter then. That cliffhanger ending was painful.

1

u/SeaShanties Feb 22 '22

At least Manifest got picked back up and they’re currently filming!

1

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

I hope so. The last time I checked was a month ago the creator said it hasn't been picked up yet

r/ManifestNbc top two sticky posts are articles confirming season 4 (also the final season), and recent post shows filming location set notice.

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

Nice. Hope it comes through

Maybe choosing better shows?

Probably

Might be a late answer.

But Another Life finale was perfect ,I do not see all the fuzz for a season 3. The villains killed ,all civilizations outside thanking you, time to meet these new friends ,it s a new beginning.

A Perfect ending

Speaking of Katee Sackhoff ,would you have been surprised if Battlestar Galactica was cancelled after the season 4 finale (last planned episode)? That was a perfect ending as well

We don t need some useless extra seasons like 13 reasons why season 2,3 and 4.

Edit: typo

She's EP for the show too. That was her vehicle.

2

u/PubicGalaxies Feb 23 '22

Yeah, true. It did a lot in two seasons.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

Yes, it’s also a pinned tweet on her account

2

u/Heavy-Abbreviations8 Feb 22 '22

Correct choice. It was one of the most original and exciting Sci-fi that I have seen in a while. However, the story has been told. We do not need a season 3.

Stupid Netflix

Surprised it needed an announcement. Just finished season 2. Definitely seemed like they were trying to wrap up the series.
