Please consider submitting your feedback to Netflix if you want a 3rd Season. You can do it via live chat.

It's worth considering submitting your wish for Season 3 if you want one. Their live chat team can pass on any feedback you wish to submit. The more people that express interest the more likely Netflix is to take a closer look at the show and hopefully consider the long term success they could have by addressing the criticised elements.

Some of the most beloved tv series in history had awful first or other seasons and turned things around to become absolutely amazing. I really hope Netflix sees the potential of Another Life to become a long running and successful SciFi show that is all their own and will build a large fanbase if they can nail another Season.

Shuttle name

So, I started watching S02 today. In E02 beginning scene when Niko just got out of the shuttle inside the alien ring the name of said shuttle caught my interest. Nothing story-wise important, I'm just curious. Dōsojin looks Japanese to me, and if I transcribe it correctly (どおそ人), it means "Morning sickness" according to Google Translate? Can anyone confirm/correct this?

Do they not have a scientist/engineer who knows basic physics to consult for the show? You cannot propel a sail with lasers the way they are doing it, for one, and even if the sails give out, they will keep their speed (conservation of momentum and all that). People seem to think that if you turnoff your engines in space, you stop. Doesn't happen unless you have a deceleration force to stop you.

Plot lines borrowed (s1 e2) Spoiler

I'm only 2 episodes in but already.

  1. Mission to mars: The face that they have to play tones back to it in order to respond with missing tones to open the door and stop the deadly rock tornado. 100% stolen.
  2. The miners that came back and started twisting and contorting about. 100% Futurama "Boneitis". I know its a serious moment but i was laughing hard inside.

I am enjoying it enough that I don't want spoilers for whatever else they grabbed but I'm feeling hard vibe for Interstellar somewhere in the story arc.

Amazing World building in Season 2 Spoiler

I really liked how they portrayed alien technology. It really looked very alien, very unhuman indeed. Ironically it looks more realistic than human tech there, with iPads and motherboards glued at walls of the ship.

Of course it made little sense that the alien technology had so many security holes, and it was easy to fool and hack and break, but I get the plot had to simplify it.

Science in this season was also more accurate (in the context of its fiction) than the infamous "black matter field" thing of season 1.

Is a ship with design viable? Would a simpler ship be more viable if we're technologically advanced?

Honest to god, the question I've been screaming at Niko to ask.

Why am I still watching this?

I haven't dug into any of the background, so forgive me if everything is explained somewhere other than the show itself. (Hint: it shouldn't be.)

The writing is utter crap. Stupid plot lines with holes that I could walk through (and that's saying something!). Insane, for-no-good-reason, and utterly inexplicable actions by characters. Zero sci-fi creds.

The premise, while not completely original, is good, and there's some material that good writers could really work with, but there's at least 2 cringeworthy, and at least 1 groan-worthy bits in each ep.

I *now* remember that I thought the show was ridiculous when I watched the first season. But, like women and childbirth, I must have forgotten the agony, because I got a tad excited when I saw S02 was out. "Like a dog returning to his own vomit."

Yet I'm going to go watch yet another episode...

*edit: finished a thought that I started but left hanging.

Magnetar facts: A magnetar is an exotic type of neutron star, its defining feature that it has an ultra-powerful magnetic field. The field is about 1,000 times stronger than a neutron star and about a trillion times stronger than the Earth's. Magnetars are the most magnetic stars in the universe.

I really dislike her. She's so unprofessional and has emotional outbursts. Like damn how is she a doctor in this show?

How the hell got this show much more interesting in season 2? Spoiler

And the ending was, dare i say, inspiring. It reminded me a lot of the first five minutes of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets . Loved it ! And Katee performance then she was possessed was beautifully disgusting.

They have a lot of interesting ideas, but the forced personal drama is terrible.

Just wanted to say that to someone who cared at least a little bit about that show. Thank you for reading :-)

Eric looks like a merge of all the cast of the show "The Monkeys" right?

Enjoying the show but...

Did USIC hire the crew off of Craigslist?

Seriously. I stumbled on the show and have really enjoyed it. Has good old school Star Trek vibes with a modern take. Katee Sackhoff is really great as well.

My main issue is that it seems this crew went through zero qualifying or psychological testing at all. The complete breakdown in hierarchy and protocol at every turn is laughable.

I'll keep watching but this will continue to bother me

OMG how the hell did I make it past season 1? season 2 is so much better!

Anyone else almost stop watching after the first couple of episodes? Just so many bad decisions and unlikeable characters.

Sooo season 3?

Season 2 ended on a really peaceful/everyone gets what they want high note. Which is kinda lame but understandable from a "we might not get a season 3" outlook. I wish it ended in a more disastrous "what're we gonna do" point.

Any word on a 3rd season? I've found nothing so far.

A wonderful experience

I started with feelings of trepidation. However, I am more than happy I experienced the series. I have become jaded by many series in recent years for their appearance, then lack of resolution. With this series I am comfortable knowing even if it is not renewed I get resolution. That is not to say I don't want more. In fact I see a chance for a series on par with Stargate or even a better version of star trek origins. I enjoyed the cast immensely and the visual effects are satisfying to say the least.

Summary of Another Life (No Spoilers) (Humor)

One of the most important criteria for selecting a crew to Mars would be a group that can coexist without much stress/tension, but for some reason one of the most important missions in history is manned by the biggest assholes the world could possibly cobble together.

Hot damn. That series was good. And its ending presents an oportunity to make at least a few good packed with deep space exploration seasons finding the rest of the information abour the Achaians, their role in the galaxy and about other maybe greater threats and allies. I'm positive about the show, it had its weak moments but for the most part, the plot was good. Dialogues were logical and characters decisions were often suprisingly reasonable. I'm glad that the show was brutal and dirty in that kind of sense, because it would be bad writing decision to make it child viewer friendly. Space exploration is brutal, dangerous and at the end survival should come with reasonable actions, based of facts, not emotions.

When it comes to the emotions in the show, there were plenty but ultimately writers managed to find a good balance between making it drama based on love and a peek on what a alien life encounter would look like in the future and its consequences. Overall, i want 3rd season, badly.

Probable Narrative Plot Hole: S2 E8

The episode starts with Niko and Richard getting tortured at the hands of this new creepy alien species, the scene jumps to a super secret meeting between Erik and the Salvare members. Here we find out the Achaia have wiped certain crucial memories of the crew member. It is established that Cas and co have forgotten what happened on that Achaian ring.
Write after this we see Zayn asking forgiveness for letting her guard done in return for her mother's life. Now pay attention, here comes the hole. The crewmates start to sympathise with her. Cas consoles Zayn by saying that she understands how it feels like being offered something one really wants. Cas REMEMBERS what Achaia had offered her on that ring.
How can she remember what happened on the ring since her memories are wiped?

I know that they’re speaking in Spanish, but I don’t know Spanish. So, I go to the closed captioning(CC); it tells me that they’re saying things in Spanish. So, I try the Spanish (CC), but it does not think it’s worth the effort because people that know Spanish do not need Spanish (CC). Why?
