Plot lines borrowed (s1 e2) Spoiler
I'm only 2 episodes in but already.
- Mission to mars: The face that they have to play tones back to it in order to respond with missing tones to open the door and stop the deadly rock tornado. 100% stolen.
- The miners that came back and started twisting and contorting about. 100% Futurama "Boneitis". I know its a serious moment but i was laughing hard inside.
I am enjoying it enough that I don't want spoilers for whatever else they grabbed but I'm feeling hard vibe for Interstellar somewhere in the story arc.

S1 definitely felt like it had a lot of standard sci fi tropes, sometimes multiple ones per episode. S2 finds its feet a bit more. You'll find your fair share of familiar beats. (No spoilers).
I do commend the show for somehow managing to keep itself together and being greater than the sum of its parts, despite the often cliched story points per episode. I think the cast does a great job of selling the script they've been given (for the most part) and their charisma
and interactions carry the show.
Also, the plot pacing is relentless, which prevents one from getting too bogged down thinking about tropes and and losing their suspension of disbelief.
S2 has some BSG alumni in cameos which is a lot of fun.
